The park posted a link to this video via Twitter the other day... <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/_Jn9Lb-BS2Q" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Wonder why they would decide at this time to suggest watching the Partridge Family at Kings Island?

I may try an unusual route I took on a trip last year, and it was so much fun...IS to VF, AE, Racer, and then Eifel Tower...in the morning it's great and uncrowded, and you can look at all of those people standing in line for DB...then to Starbucks and check out the fountains....

If you check the webcam now, it looks like a new roof for something is peeking into view on the extreme right hand side.

It's been mentioned on here countless times that season pass holders aren't the true money makers for the park. So, it must be the family that visits once or twice a year. Will the extra gas cost keep them from making that trip? I'm sure it's a question any park management would love to know the answer to ahead of time.

Yes! The 80s is the only decade that I've not been to KI in (but I did go to the KI Inn the other decades)!

OH! Mr. Mom! Herb, I wasn't even in aisle 7!!

I know it's Adam Sandler...Big Daddy (if that's the name of it?)?

I vote for Viking Fury. If not for the obvious reason(s), you could actually drink coffee while you ride that one! Oh-and while they're at it, maybe an early morning breakfast buffet at the Festhaus!

Unless you made the reservation because you liked the wallpaper so well the last time you were there! -

If 1,000 people all buy the same item, there could be 1,000 different reasons why they all bought it. I think it's unfortunate for anyone to lose their reason for buying something, especially when they can't get a refund. -
Yes, after my first trip to KI in '75, I went right back...in 1992! Have only missed a year or two since then!

The Cauldrens was my first ride at KI ever (1975)!

In all honesty, I would like to see a Starbucks EMPSSCDT (Early Morning Park Sight Seeing Coffee Drinking Time)... -
From what I can tell rides like these aren't built anymore (anywhere). Too bad. It doesn't seem like it would be a huge investment.

I got to ride KCKC just once, I think, about 18 or 19 years ago. It was a neat ride going through the treetops, and, if I remember right, lasted for a good bit, too.

The one coaster looked kind of like DB, thought it might be a Cedar Fair park. Anyway, it was a neat accident! Thanks for the info.

I was actually just watching the video about the trucks, when I noticed some interesting "things" in the background...where is this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2D0ehNPfLc0

Is that water along KCKC?

I have to wonder if the later opening day might have something to do with WindSeeker's construction. Still lots to do with that little project...

It sounds a lot like the difference between a record and a CD (or digital file). And, you know, records are still really popular with some people, and a lot of people still prefer their sound! I'm sure some enthusiasts in both areas feel like something is lost in the digital transformation.

This is a little math nerd post about WindSeeker's foundation. I got to thinking about WindSeeker's (and Drop Tower's for that matter) structure, and how important I would think it would be that the foundation would have to be extremely level. According to my calculations, for every .01" of slope on the foundation, the "tower" part of the ride would lean 3" (assuming the tower is perfectly straight). It seems like for something as tall and skinny as the towers on these rides, any lean would be disastrous. Of course, none of this says anything about when the wind blows on a perfectly straight structure. A 300 foot tower would seem to have a mind boggling amount of leverage. To sum up, that foundation is one piece of awesome engineering!

Nice article!

Who would have thought there would ever be a demand for $6 cups of Coke?

Is Amazon Falls the "exciting family ride" coming in 1988?
