  1. Our local county fair had one last year, and I rode it...it was the most intense thing I'd ever ridden.
  2. I totally think that's what it's all about. Every year, I enjoy just walking around KI more and more... And I still wish the park opened earlier (in the day)!
  3. I know there were several young kids there, but there is some blood, as well as gunfire, cannon explosions, etc. I think that everyone has been to Tecumseh but me...lol. Not only have I always lived close, I have literally driven to within a 1/4 mile of it for 8 years going to work...
  4. Last Monday, I finally got to witness Tecumseh! By "finally" I mean that, I'm now ashamed to say, that I have lived within just a few miles of this awesome outdoor drama my entire life, but never visited it. To learn more about it, visit http://www.tecumsehdrama.com/. I wanted to post a trip report about it on here because I know many people on here are into shows, as well as "immersive experiences". Watching this show truly makes you feel like you are a part of it. I highly recommend visiting Tecemseh. I have always heard things about it being "world class", etc., but now I can honestly say it is. When I was there, I really couldn't believe that something so great goes on almost every night of the week in the summer so close to home! Since it was my first trip, I went ahead and took a backstage tour, as well as partook of the all you can eat buffet (something a true amusement park enthusiast has to do!). If you do decide to visit, the food is great, and there's a snack bar with just about anything to eat you can imagine. The prices are on par with other large venues, however. Tecumseh is also located within a mile or two of our strip that has many restaurants. The backstage tour was great, and it's also the only time you can use a camera. Cameras are strictly forbidden during the performance. I will let the photos do most of the talking. Tecumseh utilizes a nearly all-natural setting and live horses. Enjoy! path to the amphitheater: snack bar area: Looking back up into the amphitheater: pond behind stage: actors showing some techniques: actor showing some stunt work!: another look at the pond (very cool!): view from seats in amphitheater: dining/snack bar area: Thanks for reading!
  5. Is that kind of like I would be a millionaire if I had a million dollars?
  6. I always think it's funny that some people think that the park has become more "corporate" now, or when Paramount had it. Take a look at the 1972 brochure (click here); many things were either "presented" by another company, or sponsored by another company. Don't get me wrong-I would love to be able to visit the park circa 1972, but I don't think Kings Island has ever been as corporate as it was back then.
  7. I've got two reasons (among others) that have made being a member of this site fantastic: 1) The KIC event two years ago at the park 2) The "Winter Blues" event If you were at any of those events, I don't have to tell you anything, and if you weren't you definitely missed out!
  8. I'm not foolish enough - well, at least I think I'm not - to try to speculate any reasons for that. My only perspective is as a person that frequents many restaurants, malls, stores, movie theaters, etc. There are many things I would list as overpriced over Kings Island.
  9. I'm sure I'll be able to hear a collective gasp of horror from this, but I just don't think the prices at Kings Island are out of line at all. Even when compared to the cheapest fast food restaurants, I don't think their food prices are out of line-and yes, I find the quality to be normally as good as if I had ordered it in just about any other restaurant. I find their souvenirs (shirts, hats, mugs) to be in line with anywhere else you find that stuff. Prices are higher everywhere you go (and will continue to do so). Amusement parks definitely aren't going to be any different. On a typical trip, I normally buy pizza. I think it's what, $6 for two slices? But, my goodness, look at where I'm at when I'm buying it...a beautiful park filled with millions and millions of dollars worth of rides - and I may be watching a wonderfully put together stage show while I'm eating it. Sure, I can run over to Taco Bell and get my lunch for $3 or $4...and sit and stare at other cars in a hot parking lot, or sit inside a, well, Taco Bell. I think people are spending less everywhere; just take a look at almost any industry. I think that pointing the finger at Kings Island without looking at the big picture is a just little narrow in scope.

    Winterfest

Was supposed to go the last year they had it ('92?)...Plans fell through, figured I'd go the next year...D'oh!
  11. I think SoB might be eating some Humble Pie before too long...
  12. It's too bad that the park hasn't had a porpoise in such a long time.
  13. Didn't Kings Island used to have a porpoise?
  14. How neat would it be for Cedar Fair to find some idea from the original Kings Island "concept" that was never realized (if there are any) and build it?
  15. Wow, first SoB is SBNO, and soon the thread about SoB's SBNO status may be...SNBO, as well!
  16. I've never been to Disney World, but it doesn't seem like a "Disney" thing to do...Surely it isn't visible from anywhere inside Disney World, or anywhere close to it? Why did it close?
  17. What's the deal with the one that says "walt disney world waterslide"?
  18. Do you mean that not everyone is betting the farm on this newly found dirt? Surely you must be kidding!!
  19. I think we need some common sense and reasoning here... If the mods would go ahead and close this thread, someone can begin the appropriate "Large Area of Dirt Next To Son of Beast That We're Assuming Is A New Kings Island Attraction" thread...
  20. I still can't believe City Center is gone. I remember reading in my local newspaper about it opening and my family visiting it when it was brand new. That place was amazing. I did my Christmas shopping there for several years. Admittedly, looking back, it did go downhill pretty quickly. The last time I shopped there was in '99. From what I read online, the mall itself was still in good shape at the time of its demolition. It's still sad to think back to those early visits...no one could have imagined it being torn down just 20 years later.
  21. I am researching now, I really appreciate everyone's input!
  22. Glad to hear you had a good experience. Nice to know that, if the need ever arises.
