I remember there was something like a game show that would go on in the Festhaus. This was early 90's. You would eat while they entertained, pulled people out of the audience to ask them questions, things like that.

A friend of mine that has visited KI since it opened was talking the other day about how people actually went to KI for the food. She said her dad wasn't into the rides that much, but loved the food. Can you imagine anyone saying something like that today?

Wonder why the press release was sent from KI.

I knew the Walmart thing was a joke, but is that really BBSS or Lt. Dan's with the bulldozers around it?

If you can look past all the craziness, it sounds like the place itself, as an amusement park, had a decent 'theme'.

I just look forward to walking up to the front gate, hearing them test "Invertigo", and walking in. Thats the best part. Oh, and nice weather.

Well, between this thread and the Boomerang channel, I didn't realize how big a Hanna-Barbera fan I was. Those were (are) my favorite cartoons/characters. I find it a real shame that the brand was never "carried on" any more than it has been. Sort of in the way Disney has been able to keep the classics around, but also develop into new areas.

No, it probably couldn't, but then again why would I need it to? Friday I'm driving from athens to Cleveland then back down to Cincinnati and will probably only have to refill once, if at all. I'll take the gas mileage over off roading capabilities or illegal street racing. The days of the muscle car are long gone. My first car was a 78 dodge magnum-it was expensive to run even at 80 cents a gallon. I couldn't imagine that now, but I do miss it. I'm not sure how you define muscle, but today's cars have more horsepower and acceleration than anything ever built.

I'm so glad that my aunt and uncle took me there to eat during our trip there in '92. If only we had ridden the monorail...

What is the status of Hanna Barbera today? Do they have anything current? Well, other than new versions of their original stuff (Scooby, etc.).

I'm not directly involved with sports, but if I remember right, I think its $100 per sport. A large chunk of that would have to go to transportation costs. I believe the going rate right now is $.50 cents per mile per bus for fuel/wear and tear on the bus, etc.

I work for a county school. We're already there. However, its not put into those words. Its called "pay to play".

I guess its like the reason you send Thank You notes to people who bring you gifts. Does not sending them mean you get less gifts? Probably not. Its like anything else. A company can run itself any way it wants to. They are free to pay their executives as many millions as they want. Personally I like to think that the companies that survive in the future are ones that go out of their way for their customers, not just see how much they can bleed from them.

With FOF having always been inside, shouldn't that ride last for decades? I would think that would cut down on wear and tear immensely.

Its really hard to pick just one. Overall, it would have to be The Beast. I usually ride it first thing. Firehawk really proved to be fun ride. I love AE, just like the "feel" of it. I feel like I go back in time on The Racer. FOF is just plain fun. I even like BSSC really well. I've come to accept it as the "new" antique cars in my mind...I still like that area of the park. As for flats, it as to go to Viking Fury. Hard to imagine that they used to use that whole queue. At least its kind of novel to walk through. Plus it has real landscaping!

Of course, if you want breakfast, Starbuck's is pretty much your only choice. Gotta have my coffee.

I haven't seen this posted anywhere else, please delete if it is. I received an e-newsletter from KI that says admission to Halloween Haunt is free with a Gold Pass. Isn't this different from what was stated earlier?

Wow, if you hadn't been to the park since '91, I bet that was a real stunner.

Another reason I don't want them to take out Congo. It has a look to it that they just don't seem to do any more. A real wood walk way, they actually took the time to angle all the boards that hold up the handrail, and there's real (gasp!) landscaping around it.

I couldn't have said it better than these 3. I love Oktoberfest. In the midst of the craziness of the park, I like to go in Festhaus, ride VF, and eat at the Biergarten (BBSS). It just has a neat vibe to it. I also didn't realize they changed the name of the railroad. I agree with Gordon Bombay on the train.

I just posted something about this on another thread, but this sounds like a good place for it, too.. Maybe they really have a strategy. Maybe they're trying purposely to make the ride names generic so that people think of the whole park itself, rather than individual ride names. I think I remember posts awhile back about CF wanting to build their "brand".
