  1. I am bumping this to point something out: friend from CP: hey i had a question for you me: what's up? friend: do you know where i can buy Kings Island merchandise online? friend: ive been looking around for a while i cant find any me: hmm. i remember a website someone told me about friend: im in sort of disbelief that they dont sell stuff online... me: there's some stuff on cafepress, i can find the link if you want friend: ugh friend: lol oh well, thank you anyway Maybe this is something else KI should look into, if they aren't already (and if they are, I'm not aware, so please be nice and don't bust my chops ).
  2. Sorry for turning this into the birthday topic! I'm likely going solo on opening day. Anyone who wants to ride with me (anyone with a steel stomach of course), find me and we shall ride!
  3. !!!!!!!!!!!! Darn you Jesse, I about spat out what I was drinking!
  4. Haha, I agree!! After 25, birthdays are all down-hill from there! I thought I was the only one who noticed. After 21, the parties get smaller and smaller.. then eventually people are like "Oh ____, you're a year older! When did that happen?" It's hilarious. Even more hilarious is that I used my bonus check to go out and buy everything I wanted but didn't get, so I could care less who forgot, or decided that a celebration wasn't necessary.
  5. Same here. I'll work my birthday, and all holidays of the year.. just please don't force me to work on a day when there is a coaster event!! No one cares about holidays or birthdays anymore, so who cares if I have to work them? Not I.
  6. I couldn't have said it better myself. Lines schmines, mechanical problems schmechanical problems, I don't care. I will be riding Diamondback on opening day. However, if I witness anyone jumping in line in front of me and you are within a short distance of me, I suggest you plug your ears.
  7. I try to ask for days off as far in advance as possible to increase my chances of getting it. There have only been two times in the last 6 years that I remember not getting the day off that I had requested. Unless she looks at the calendar and starts a sentence with "Well...." , it's a yes.
  8. Yesterday I asked my boss, "Is it possible to request April 18 off?" She gave me a knowing look and said, "My daughters want to go too."
  9. In the years I have been going to the park, I've always been a ride warrior, barely stopping for a bite to eat, or only ducking into a souvenir shop when there was bad weather or buying sunglasses because I broke (another) pair. My friend and I did stop to watch the Flashback! Totally 80s. I enjoyed it and I am happy that the show is returning this year. I regret not stopping to see more of what the park has to offer.. that will definitely change this year.
  10. I saw the headline "I like mine with lettuce and tomato" and I was like what the h? A friend and I took advantage of the Backyard BBQ last year. Except for the swarms of bees around the soda machine, the food was great and nothing went empty. It's something I'll definitely take advantage of again.. all you can eat for that price is nothing to complain about these days.
  11. Platinum is definitely worth the price if you plan to visit CP and KI. I'm going on year 3 with my platinum because I love both parks. It's more than worth the extra money to get the park benefits from both CP and KI. I visited CP 7 times last year and KI 13 times.. my platinum had cost $150.. I added up how much tickets and parking would have been otherwise, and I was shocked at how much money I'd saved.
  12. *note to self cancel trip to Kings Island this summer I've ridden Maverick while there was lightning and black clouds approaching, ridden countless rides and coasters after it was announced that they were having mechanical problems and reopened, ridden Drop Tower as it was getting ready to storm, and ridden Skyscraper only to be told by my friend running the ride after I got off that they had broken the control panel while I was on the ride. If you never take chances, you're never going to experience life.
  13. I usually jump on here early in the morning before work, and after work to read the new posts. The time I spend on here varies anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. One morning, I logged on here and was reading a topic when I realized I had to leave for work. I left without touching my computer. I came back 9 hours later to find it still on the same screen.
  14. I never knew any of this. This is quite interesting to read, I always enjoy learning new things.
  15. Wow, that looks like a real gut wrencher. Sign me up!
  16. LOL my customers are starting to ask me how many days until KI opens.. if I say "um.." for even a second, they get all shocked and are like "YOU DON'T KNOW??!!!"
  17. After I registered to win, it also says: "Thank you for entering to win our First Ride on Diamondback sweepstakes, only offered to our valued newsletter subscribers."
  18. I thought I was the only one who thought it kind of stinks going with someone who doesn't have a pass, because then neither one of you get the benefits.
  19. That speaks volumes to me right there, and tells me it may not be entirely the fault of the recession.
  20. TWO HOURS for Mantis??!!! I'd hate to see what the other lines were like.. I went to CP last year on a sunny Saturday when a coaster event was going on. Maverick's line was wrapped around the queue and backed up to Chick Fil A, TTD's line was out by the grandstand, Millie's line was filling the switchbacks and almost to the lockers, Raptor's queue was completely full. Corkscrew and Blue Streak were at an hour, and there were long lines for food stands, bathrooms, and even ATM machines. It was a headache, but I still managed to get some rides in and have a great time.
  21. You might be a KI addict if you: brave the freezing cold and wind while dripping wet from rain and snow and sloshing through mud puddles just to get photos of Diamondback, wiping water off your new camera the whole time.. then wake up the next morning with a throat so sore you can't swallow, and think to yourself "It was totally worth it."
  22. I gave SOB 2 chances, and it's not getting a third one. It does not matter to me how you ride it, which seat you sit in, with the loop, post loop, old trains or new trains. To me, it hurts. Beast is good enough, it didn't need a sequel. The first drop was indeed amazing, but there are drops similar to that on many more (and more enjoyable) coasters. I'll go far enough to say that Mean Streak at CP didn't beat me up nearly as much as SOB did. In fact, CP's classic Blue Streak didn't even beat me up as much as SOB did.. and Old Blue has been operating since 1964.
  23. 3 hours for Millennium Force on my first trip to CP. I was stoked until we were leaving the station. It hit me how high we were really going (I was still afraid of heights at the time) and I had a panic attack on the lift hill.. funny how I can't stay off it now.
  24. On the 7 trips to CP last year, I only recall seeing one county sheriff on Route 6 and he was going west. I blew past him at 80 mph and he kept on going his own way. That road is pretty much deserted.. I think it's safe to say you can put the pedal to the metal. But I highly suggest stopping in Findlay to use the restroom and get food if you need it, no matter if you need to or not. The next station, save for lonely and somewhat shady truck stops, is about 30 miles west of Sandusky. I made the mistake of not stopping in Findlay to use the restroom.. miles and miles later on Route 6 I was dancing in my seat, highly considering just jumping out and using the ditch.
