This is might officially be the funniest thing I've read on here in years.

Um, I would just like to go on the record as saying that I once daydreamed on here about Kings Island getting a custom score for the nightly fireworks*. I've also daydreamed well before now about the park getting another parade. If next year brings both, I might actually die of happiness. This is some pipe dream business coming true for me right now, people. Hey KI, for the record: I also really admire Dollywood's event schedule and BGW's Food and Wine Festival. Why not think about introducing something similar? And have a companion event each evening on International Street and Tower Gardens called Nuits d'Amour in which vendors sell flowers and French pastries, International Street gradually transitions to songs like "La Vie en Rose" by Louis Armstrong or "Non, je ne regrette rien" by Edith Piaf, and a section of International Street or all of Tower Gardens gets new tables and becomes a place to have a candle-lit sit-down dinner, complete with reservations? No? Too much? Okay. I'm just really feeling like we're on a roll here. * I'd love to hear something orchestral that starts well in advance of the show and gradually builds in energy and complexity and climaxes with the fireworks. I'm not a music composer, but what I imagine in my head is very much inspired by "Fireworks" by Nicholas Hooper from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (which they used during the fireworks in previous years.) Something that's the right mix of playful and grandiose.

^ Yeah, but those modern things are colloquially known as Edison bulbs. Typing out "those things that hipsters falsely attribute to being the same design as Thomas Edison's, those mindless lemmings" felt maybe a little pretentious.

I missed this, somehow. I LOVE the idea of this. I've daydreamed about the park having some sort of international celebration with a parade on International Street several times. They kind of read my mind, so to me, this kind of the coolest. Sign me up. Even better if it takes place at night with special lighting, either Edison bulb-y or like the Main Street Electrical Parade at Disney. But even if they stick with existing lighting, I'm still all in. Hopefully they give it a shot!

I was thinking today about how it's been 10 years since the park was de-Paramounted... Let's pretend you're in charge, and something happened that legally required you to change the names of all the coasters in the park. None of them can stay what they currently are. What would you rename them? You can just change the names, you can retheme the entire park, you can repaint the rides, you can use other properties/movies/books/whatever. There are no restrictions.

I totally get the lack of appeal, but those things are surprisingly fun. I rode one a couple IAAPAs ago.

I vote for King Ding Dong. You could do a segment on his predictions for what the inside of the Rivertown Coke Freestyle stand actually looks like.

^ Listen, you already keep the Coke Refresh stand in Rivertown closed. You're really gonna make them shut down an entire area of the park when you visit, now?

Not sure--I've heard something similar, but I've never explicitly heard the rules for that situation explained. It was definitely colder than that for Banshee's media day.

Can't speak for Banshee or Invertigo, but all the Arrow coasters (Bat, Adventure Express, and Vortex) don't operate when it's under 45° out. So that's part of what was going on last night.

A deduction: they want to sell it, but they don't have a buyer. Given what the CEO has said about cutting cost, I wouldn't expect to see it moved within the chain. I wonder who they expect to sell to. Firehawk probably costs too much to operate for a smaller park. Surely anyone who's Cedar Fair-sized or bigger either has a Flying Dutchman and knows what they're up against with them or else has been paying attention to what Cedar Fair is doing? Maybe they're looking to sell it to some up-and-coming buyer in Dubai or China.

The marketing campaign for this new season of Doctor Who is extremely edgy. Glad you had a good time!

I don't think it had anything to do with quality. I think it had everything to do with operating costs, which is what the CEO said they'd be looking at when determining how to cut costs after the rough spring they had financially. Unless Flight Deck or Time Warp is pounding its way through umpteen wheels each season because of roughness, I wouldn't look for either to go anywhere. See also: HUSS Top Spins, all but one of which have disappeared from the Cedar Fair chain in the last handful of summers. I'm interested in seeing what happens to the other rides in the chain that would appear to have expensive upkeep costs, like Volcano at Kings Dominion, Sledgehammer at Wonderland, Xcelerator at Knott's, and so on.

Yep! I do. It's a nice little book. Makes me nostalgic for that era.

I'm sure that would go down like any other coaster announcement: with cries of "but that's not what you promised" and "I'm never buying another pass again" and "why would they do that, there's obviously a [other model] hole in the ride lineup!"

Yeah, that's shenanigans. The only people who think "an all-new train design" is a thing that has relevance to the average park guest is enthusiasts.

It's not going to happen, but wouldn't it be funny if it did go to Michigan's Adventure? Then he's not technically wrong.
