  1. I was thinking today about how it's been 10 years since the park was de-Paramounted... Let's pretend you're in charge, and something happened that legally required you to change the names of all the coasters in the park. None of them can stay what they currently are. What would you rename them? You can just change the names, you can retheme the entire park, you can repaint the rides, you can use other properties/movies/books/whatever. There are no restrictions.

  4. I totally get the lack of appeal, but those things are surprisingly fun. I rode one a couple IAAPAs ago.

  6. Completed it. I really appreciate the opportunity to give my opinion. Y'all are great!
  7. I vote for King Ding Dong. You could do a segment on his predictions for what the inside of the Rivertown Coke Freestyle stand actually looks like.
  8. ^ Listen, you already keep the Coke Refresh stand in Rivertown closed. You're really gonna make them shut down an entire area of the park when you visit, now?
  9. Not sure--I've heard something similar, but I've never explicitly heard the rules for that situation explained. It was definitely colder than that for Banshee's media day.
  10. Can't speak for Banshee or Invertigo, but all the Arrow coasters (Bat, Adventure Express, and Vortex) don't operate when it's under 45° out. So that's part of what was going on last night.
  11. A deduction: they want to sell it, but they don't have a buyer. Given what the CEO has said about cutting cost, I wouldn't expect to see it moved within the chain. I wonder who they expect to sell to. Firehawk probably costs too much to operate for a smaller park. Surely anyone who's Cedar Fair-sized or bigger either has a Flying Dutchman and knows what they're up against with them or else has been paying attention to what Cedar Fair is doing? Maybe they're looking to sell it to some up-and-coming buyer in Dubai or China.
  12. The marketing campaign for this new season of Doctor Who is extremely edgy. Glad you had a good time!
  13. Fun fact: a lot of them are very heavily based on the writings of a member here (@bkroz)! Check his stuff out here: https://www.themeparktourist.com/features/20171129/33460/theme-park-tourist-depth-collections
  14. I don't think it had anything to do with quality. I think it had everything to do with operating costs, which is what the CEO said they'd be looking at when determining how to cut costs after the rough spring they had financially. Unless Flight Deck or Time Warp is pounding its way through umpteen wheels each season because of roughness, I wouldn't look for either to go anywhere. See also: HUSS Top Spins, all but one of which have disappeared from the Cedar Fair chain in the last handful of summers. I'm interested in seeing what happens to the other rides in the chain that would appear to have expensive upkeep costs, like Volcano at Kings Dominion, Sledgehammer at Wonderland, Xcelerator at Knott's, and so on.
  15. Yep! I do. It's a nice little book. Makes me nostalgic for that era.
  16. I'm sure that would go down like any other coaster announcement: with cries of "but that's not what you promised" and "I'm never buying another pass again" and "why would they do that, there's obviously a [other model] hole in the ride lineup!"
  17. Yeah, that's shenanigans. The only people who think "an all-new train design" is a thing that has relevance to the average park guest is enthusiasts.
  18. It's not going to happen, but wouldn't it be funny if it did go to Michigan's Adventure? Then he's not technically wrong.
  19. ^ I would die happy. Especially if they did the pineapple juice floats that Disneyland does.
  20. Houston, we have an announcement: It's a Gravity Group wooden coaster. Think Wooden Warrior at Quassy. I haven't ridden any of the smaller Timberliner rides, but I have ridden Mine Blower in Kissimmee. TGG hasn't lost their edge since Voyage, folks. We're in for a treat.
  21. ^ But if you don't cross your legs, you might not make it to either end of Coney in time...
  22. I would just like to say that one of my favorite things here over the years is how, when anyone ever suggests changing or removing Adventure Express, there's always a chorus of people who jump in and say, "Don't violate the Eleventh Commandment!" It's up there with the annual Christmas retelling of the sinking of the S.S. Gator. (For those who don't know, the Eleventh Commandment is: "Thou shalt not mess with Adventure Express, or else now you will pay.") Also... It better not be Adventure Express. Although, it would be cool to have been on the final crew for a ride... Boddah's black hat has always been a fairly reliable source, though.
  23. Very interesting... If the speculated 2020 giga is actually coming, I think I just realized my prediction for where. Firehawk has seemed like a remarkably complex ride for a seasonal park for me for a while, but since it's lasted this long, I figured it'd be around for a while. But if you'd told me the Vekoma Flying Dutchman at Kings Island wouldn't outlast the one at the dumpy Six Flags near DC, I wouldn't believe you. Because I'm too cheap to pay for a locker, the emotion I associate most with this ride is fear that my stuff will fall out of my pockets. It's never been a must-ride for me, but I've got friends who love the thing. A number of them also liked Son of Beast, though, so maybe they're just wrong.
