First trip to Cedar Point in 25+ years
74Gibson replied to Flat Freak's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Good format for the TR. Like the quick and easy comparisons. I agree that Maverick is amazing... I love the current incarnation of i305 too! As for no airtime on Millie, I always get it near the front and sometimes near the middle. It seems like the 2nd or 3rd car is best...especially for a DB lover like you and I Magnum is rough on the wheel seats but, the middle row of each car is considerably smoother. As a fellow airtime lover (I know that's cheesy sounding but hey) you've got to try 3rd car 2nd (middle) seat. Any of the first 3 cars are great really. I personally find myself liking it better than DB right now. Forgot to mention that Skyhawk is by far my favorite flat. -
I love Skyhawk and having a Screamin' Swing at KI would be great... of course, the taller the better!

Like their cars right? Perhaps the things from China to which you allude are cheap because that's what USA wants...and therefore they supply it to make a profit.

New at Holiday World for 2012
74Gibson replied to Colonel_SoB_fan's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Or more like Six New Jersey getting a 'copy' of TD, right Beatle. I'm excited for holiday world and am anxious to see what all this developement will bring in the future. I have no clue really but am excited non the less! -
Hershey SkyRush New for 2012
74Gibson replied to DaveStroem's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
THis has a ton of potential. I tired to imagine the forces as we always do and if they pan out, this will be an awesome ride. It should feel a lot like I305 and Maverick but the train and seating is such a cool addition... I hope I was really hoping for a Giga but... I305 really doesn't need to be that tall... Did I really just say that? -
Several points: 1. Nickel and diming 2. fairly expensive upcharge-especially for a family, Hurt my wallet a good bit...especially since my wife wasn't feeling well and we missed the movie we paid for. 3. I see this as making something out of an attraction that was not very profitable...Action theater, which was already half replaced with a haunt right- I never go anymore 4 upcharge "fun" thing that would be a total waste for me but liked by others. Also, it's better than an empty building right?! 5. Fast pass- Very expensive upcharge targeting infrequent visitors that want to make the most of a rare trip, this has nothing to do with their 'regular' patrons who you claim are being nickel and dimed. 6. The only thing besides general maintenance and building/midway improvements that would have been typically added. Oh, I forgot the other thing I love so much about the park this year... Coney Mall improvements. I haven't even been there at night barely walked through it my one trip but it felt great. I can't imagine how good it will look at with WindSeeker lit up at night. Oh, someone else forgot about all that too... and apparently good River Town and Planet Snoopy look. Let's face it folks, things are going well. I hate being Dickel and dimed and have recently had a very blunt conversation with the CEO responsible. If I were Mr. Ouimet or any other CF exec., I would be very focused on short term gains to pay off debt. Then, since CF would be the whop I would focus on guest experience. I hate the idea of pay to cut but see it as a great way to maximize a rare opportunity and I'm willing to wait a little tiny bit longer on some fast passers if CF finds other ways to make up the difference. I would love to use a fast pass at any 6 Flags parks because I never go. If fast pass bogs down the lines for certain seats I will be very upset! Ringmaster, I vote for you for post of the day...or yesterday

We didn't Had a great day though. Even got to go swimming when we got home.

Beatle, I totally disagree with your perspective again, respectfully but still... My 3 yr. old daughter cannot stop talking about Dinosaurs Alive and it's my fondest memory of KI in quite awhile. Maybe it's not your thing, WindSeeker isn't mine either (I didn't even bother to ride it but I so love it as an addition, amazing lighting makes such a difference at parks and WindSeekers just look cool), but it is going to be a grand slam for KI. You simply can;t debate that nor how much it was being enjoyed by adults and kids alike. Everyone from older folks to Canadians to tattooed tough guys were getting their pics in front of the Dinos. Seriously, have you seen the T-Rex? We stayed a bit and people were AMAZED by it. Sorry if you don't like it. Actually, I just don;t want to hear about it anymore. I should also add that my wife and I work very hard and do have good incomes. David, trying to be respectful. Back on topic, I think the Fast Pass could be a good thing for precisely the reasons presented in this thread. If I ever make it to Magic Mountain I will absolutely buy a fast pass, even though I regularly report line jumpers at any park. I hate line jumping and get seriously annoyed when I'm waiting for a specific seat and have to wait an additional train because of a fast passer. So, Here's what I'm asking ya for KI. 1. Don't make waits for chosen seats limited. ex. don't let fast passers (we already have a slang bog down the front or back seats. 2. Train employees well on how to explain the system so guests aren't offended by it. I was mad at DB yesterday because of the way it was presented (see yesterdays post) It really felt like a sales pitch and totally cheapened the breast cancer demonstration. Unfortunately for me, I ended feeling like CF management is merely trying to make money off getting more people in the park. A win-win with a not-for-profit is a fantastic thing if your intentions are good. ARE THEY? 3. Stop making season pass holders feel like pests. There are so many problems with the system. I would gladly pay more for the pass if it had smoother operations. You know I don't need to list examples. It just lumps in with the shady, greedy and sneaking business ethics and model that have been synonymous with CF parks recently. GP might not know why they don't but I bet they return less. Yes I know attendance is up but I'm talking about real people, not numbers. Treating customers well is still the foundation of a good business. BTW, and to be fair, I was very pleased with the staff who handled my pass problem yesterday. Best Guest Relations experience in a very long time. 4. Limit the number and get the operations running smooth so that it doesn't bother others so much. 5. If you don't have a single rider line, please allow us to re-ride if a seat is empty. It can totally make our day!! I had one chance to ride Diamondback yesterday and it will probably be my last trip to KI this year. When I was exiting, I saw three empty seats (1/2 hr wait) and jumped in one (far from my other seat so the ride op didn;t catch it. How could I not???? It was my first ride and put me in a great mood on a day when my wife was feeling bad. It really, really helped our trip. Sorry and thanks (I guess).

They certainly chose this day because of expected low crowds so who knows Waits are good now
-
Was just told by DB entrance ride host that they did away with single rider and tOpd me about fast pass. Also said they are trying to break a world record and have the most people in the park so even tho it's Sun I should buy one
-
Pine is very weak fOr the same reason it is very cheap (which is obviously why it was chosen) it grows quick and is seen as easily replaceable
-
I always want to know what wait times are but never think the signs are right. That always used to annoy me but I just got over it. Why trust something that can be simply turned by a quest... the tool used isn't that hard to model. Try apps. I've barely been to parks this year but Ride Hopper was pretty accurate on the day I was at CP (their app wasn't so great) and it was dead so I imagine they're pretty good with a decent crowd.

Thank you for another great thread! I love how the first pic advertises pretty girls everywhere. I wondered how much management paid rose pretty girls lol! Perhaps this has bearing on the bikini top issue
-
I sure would rather see a beautiful sunset. Lol
-
This is getting bad lol I'm old school on many things but am certainly very comfortable around women in bikini tops. Being 34, I find scantily dressed teens pretty nasty but... I think our society sends some pretty confusing messages about intimacy. Look at some documentaries or... actual primary research (pm me) on teen pregnancies and birth rates, in the us, compared to other countries. It'll get ya thinking Edit: to fix auto correct

So, we agree that prefabs are wooden coasters? Prefab material is wood, just like ice and steam are water and coal and diamonds are carbon! Sorry to chime in late but I would love to see you drink steam or burn diamonds. Steam was previously in a liquid state and referred to as water. Coal became diamonds over time and with many forces involved. You can't just go backwards and say it's still coal. My house is made up of boards cut from trees but I sure don't call it a tree Sorry, I had to chime in cuz you totally provided proof that prefab coasters are different from standard wooden coasters. Should they be called the same thing is the true question... I REALLY COULD NOT CARE LESS (meaning that I don't care now and therefore it is impossible to care less than I do but if someone asked, I would probably distinguish between a traditional and pre-fab woodie.

I've been guessing the first of the new 4D B&M for awhile now. Gardaland's Raptor has always been rumored to be a step in that direction and I assume Furious Basco was Intamin's attempt. Win B&M. Intamin should stick with their ground hugging and launched awesomeness, and more gigas! Please Hershy please!

I Blacked out on Millennium Force
74Gibson replied to HWBeast1039's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I never grey out on Millie except when other factors are involved, heat and alcohol are what usually does it. I've ridden i305 20plus times and get tunnel vision or blackout everytime. I welcome it and enjoy it as part of the ride, always coming to during euphoric airtime on that 2nd hill. Titan's helix after the mcbr greyed me out and so did my 1st launch on TTD but I'm convinced the latter was sensory overload not G forces. Sometimes Raptor's final helix gets me if I'm back row. -
Antic cars sound fun Simply enjoying a good laugh in good humor my friend.

Seems exciting. I'm anxious to hear more about him, his vision for the parks and just kinda how he ran things in the past. I'm thrilled with the possibilities, just cautious because I don't know anything about the man (calling all Terpies((and another pluralization debate)). The quote below (from the op's quoted article) made me have regret for some of the things I've said. I would like to thank Dick Kinzel for his unparalleled vision, passion and selfless dedication to Cedar Fair over the years," said Harvie. "Without Dick, Cedar Fair would not have the opportunities or the growth potential it has today. He has been the heart and soul of this organization for many, many years and, while he can be succeeded, he can never be replaced. Dick Kinzel is directly responsible for many things that have given me lots of joy. For that, I am indebted to him. Unfortunately, I've been offended in my recent conversations with him because I don't like how he had been running things... I would be more specific but this is a fansite and... NEW CEO! With the improvement we've seen in the parks recently, a record setting year in 2010, and fresh blood at the helm I'm very excited about possibilities. TombraiderFTW: The article reads as though he will currently be President and will become the CEO (and I would assume his previous role as president replaced) when Kinzel retires.

As an enthusiast, I'm sure I know exactly what's going to happen... Not trying to be rude but CF n Co. are very good at making money and I don't doubt that it was cleared by the state nor that they have multiple backup plans for the SOB Sorry, I really want them to make me like it. I'm perfectly happy enjoying the rest of the park while they fix it... Whatever that means. It's simple a huge decision and I wish them luck!

This makes me giggle. Partly because I've been through it recently (the iphone bit) and partly because I knew you would quickly be posting with it. I never cease to be amazed at how useful they are. I do love technology... especially as a musician. My issue with DT is that the car is so long that it limits the side to side motion and that's what's fun about bobsleds. I've read that it was originally supposed to be smaller but Kinzel wanted it bigger to increase capacity. I say tear it down and make use of the gorgeous beach. It has got to be CP's greatest missed opportunity and probably the biggest bang for the buck they've got available. Just imagine what that midway could look like with WindSeeker, the ferris wheel, WT and a good woodie where big ugly box.. I mean DT is.
