  1. I do, Knotts and Canada's Wonderland are both 301 ft., more than likely CP is going in at 301 or higher. That would make 3 of 3 over 300 ft. Wow, OK. You got me I don't see any reason to believe it will be taller than 301'. You guys are more literal than the Autistic kids I work with
  2. Coney Mall needs some love. I can't think of any better place to put a new attraction like this. I love the old-time amusement park feel they have in Coney Mall, then you pass the diner and the whole area past Vortex is so deserted. Gator, you win post of the month in my book! EDIT to add: I also don't see any reason to really believe it's going over 300 feet.
  3. ^ That's some nice animation... mostly refering to the views of the park. I could sure see one of those rising between Wicked Twister's spikes.
  4. I like the arch idea. It reminds me of the walkway that KI had that was covered in some climbing vine forming a tunnel.
  5. S&S swing gets my vote. I was at CP yesterday and couldn't get enough of Skyhawk. I should mention too,at the end of the night, the que was empty but the ride nearly full and they let us re-ride multiple times. I only stopped because it was time to sprint for a night cap on Maverick.
  6. This really hurts. I first visited Holiday World this year for Holiwood nights. I have gained so much respect for the Koch family and can't stop speaking their praises and the amazingly good place the Holiday World is. This is truly a loss. My thoughts are with his family and I wish them the best.
  7. I heard a guy named Phillip say Morr is better!
  8. I was referring to a thread about that Silly Old Boy, what a sob story! DB, on the other hand...and other end of the park, is an entirely different story and how fortunate we are to have it!
  9. We've seen this comment before... In another thread... commenting about something which I'm pretty sure a certain fan of Khaki has no certainty as to the fate of. Edit: forgot to comment on the topic at hand. I had been following the construction on a certain other fan site which was certainly not to my liking (mainly because of the attitude of a few individuals) and then found this here glorious KIC. I followed the construction daily from then on.
  10. But that hill is glorious when the brake is off!
  11. ^ an unfortunate given in tour times. Now that I've seen what led up to the incident, I'm much more supportive of their drastic measures. Things can go very wrong very quickly in rowdy situation like that. I've been at shows where the group mentality was very strong and everything got pretty out of control.
  12. Beatle, that is entirely too bad to hear you say that. I had such high hopes for both. 06jds377, I agree that they were concerned with speed. They were just more concerned about height. That's why they say tallest first when they promote it, just like everything else that has been the tallest and fastest this or that.
  13. I'm guessing on the age but about 7 on The Beast. I've been hooked ever since!
  14. I imagine CF was much more concerned with height than speed and I also assume that it was the park/CF that dertermoined how big of a footprint the ride would have. That makes me agree that Intamin was put in a position where they were asked to build a ride that did not fit the plot. IF this was a 200' or 250' coaster it probably would be fine without trims. As it is, I have no problems with them adding trims except that they did it before I got a chance to ride it
  15. This doesn't make me feel so good about somewhat defending SFOT for incident involving the lady with the gun tattoes.
  16. Thanks for the report and (as always) the great photos. I'm heading to HoliWood nights and this was a great anticipation builder.
  17. First off, welcome to KIC. So, because we are already exposed to unhealthy ammounts of pollution from other sources we shouldn't mind being exposed to someone's pollution for pleasure. You just don't have a good arguement. Cedar Pointer makes a good point about already having messy situations enforcing the smoking policy in the park and I agree with you Buckeye. The more I think about it the more I believe banning smoking would not have a negative impact on attendance or per cap spending. Like I said in my last post, we had the same agruments over Fort Wayne's smoking ban and it has not turned out to be harmfull to businesses. Some closed and said it was because of the ban but they were obviously already on the way out. Now I can play gigs and breath easy
  18. Buckeye, I get it now. I agree and think that harming others is the true underlying issue in the smoking debate. However, it doesn't change the fact that CF would face many very unhappy people if they banned smoking. It would be a difficult move and would have a considerable economic impact... actually I think it would be positive in the long run based on the smoking ban in my hometown, but that doesn't mean I'd want to go through the transition if it was my park. Donnie and Tomcatt I'm with you. I don't like second smoke but am happy to enjoy the day with smokers as long as I don't have to breath it. Almost every time I go to a park I'm with smokers. I get sad when I see people smoking around their kids and sometimes when I see my friends smoke but I'll never dislike someone over it.
  19. ^ why did you think that was my point?
  20. because the park could very easily not allow smoking at all. Theoretically they can. Realistically, if they ban smoking people will sneak it and they'll have tons of nasy PR situations, arguments with security and disgruntled former patrons. Look at how much grief SFOT is getting for trying to deny a women with gun tattoos admission.
  21. Rumor Smasher, I don't think you understood my post nor do I think it matters if this was management or not. For me, the debate lies in the appropriateness of the tattoos at the park. My point was to say that these are tough decisions that should be approached with maturity, compassion and a genuine desire to do what's best. I would like the two pot leaves (medicinal use in California is irrevalent here, but I do see your point) but not the bloody knives. Would everyone answer the same. No. That's where I was going with it. Just because you don't find it offensive doesn't mean others will not. Would she wear that outfit to a church? I'm not getting preachy at all just trying to put the image in context.
  22. Why are they beggars?
  23. Let us not forget that this is private property. If you walk on my lawn and I find you offensive I can ask you to leave. I used to dress offensively but didn't get in a huff when someone said something about it. What if they were two Pot leaves? What if they were bloody knives? Where do we draw the line and why are so offended when people think their style is offensive... on private property.
  24. I had a spectactular first trip of the year on Sun. Millie went down when I was in line and TTD was down most of the day and I didn't care at all. We had tons of trimless rides on Maggie and Raptor, the park looked fantastic and the ride ops were in great spirits. I saw great enforcement of rules. My friend and I (after about 4 laps) were cutting through the tables on our way back to Maggies line and decided to jump a rail. I know, never done it before but no one was in the cue and we would have waited for anyone that was. Honestly just trying to save a long walk. We got to the platform and the ride op (a small bodied female) politely told us that we would have to go to the entrance. We did and thanked her graciously when we left and when we returned. Then proceeded to another fantastic trimless ride in the middle seat of the 3rd car. Unfortunately I saw a very rude smoker who waited for the guard to leave and then lit up and walked down the main midway. The expression on his face was FU, I'll do what I want.
  25. Hmmm... I don't like the tattoo because I don't like violence and guns pointed at a chest make me think of violence. Especially the way they cradel her upper chest. It's almost like seeing a baby hold a gun or something. Just kinda unselttling. However, I don't think portraying violence was her intention and certainly understand why she is upset. FYI, I have a Black Belt in Hapkido so I can defend myself, family and community.
