Dinosaurs Alive! is coming to Kings Island in 2011
74Gibson replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
This thing is HUGE. I can't believe it's coming to KI and $5 is a fair price. My daughter will LOVE this. I can't wait. EDIT: because I can't type -
Last 7-2006 Son Of Beast Accident Case Settled

I love how you can honestly admit a mistake. That's very respectable! -
Ha. Wouldn't that be collaboration...think of a happy place, optimism?
I work in an Elem. school, being cool is half my effectiveness. Kids love amusement parks. Works for me.
Castas? I know the term but don't get the pun.

Me and my crew (and many others I know) are crazy excited about WindSeeker. I can't wait... although there is one with a view I'm looking more forward to:ph34r: -
Voyage to use 7-car PTC trains in 2011
74Gibson replied to CoastersNSich's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I'm excited for some reason. I think I'm just glad they have something prepared for this year. They gave us free tickets because the Timberliners weren't ready for HoliWood Nights so I can;t have a shred of bad feelings towards the park. Indyguy, that got me thinking about how badly the wheels squealed. It was way more intense than what we heard on Vortex and Firhawk last year. They also added antibollbacks to the final hill before the break run. Giga told me that... Will or maybe Mike told her that the Timberliners were barely clearing it. Gordon, last I heard they had ordered individual cars to return to a 6 car train. I know Raven's train is going back and they sold the other Voyage trains so I think they have to buy a whole second train right? EDIT: 7 car. Don't ask me what anniversary I'm on either:wacko: -
GYK is right. It's a synergy of advertising. They can plug both at once and it's an awesome draw to the park. My wife's reaction sums it up. "What I thought they were getting a thrill ride." Me: "they are, they're just doing this too." Wife "Wow. That's neat." Conclusion: Our first trip of the year is now KI, instead of Holiday World. Those who know me know how much I love Holiday World, especially with my family.

I just feel like if you mentioned "the new thing at Kings Island" to any locals, they'd say "Oh the swing ride?" if they knew anything at all... Recall that it is us, the enthusiast community, who is so feverishly following these developments. Granted, after the actual announcement (and depending on what the attraction ends up being) it may be a battle for attention. But right now, I don't know that too many of the "general public" know or care what's coming... Maybe I'm wrong. That's just what I imagine. I think that the marketing standpoint on this sees WindSeeker as a "thrill" ride marketing to teens, and (again, pending announcement) this dinosaur thing as a family attraction that everyone can do together. I'm not sure if that's really the way things will be in practice, though. Both seem family-friendly to me. And that's a good thing. True.... But I'm pretty sure locals seeing a giant dinosaur in the front of the park will take a lot of attention off the "swing ride" lol.

Brian, those are extension cords for power their power tools. You can see a circular saw on top of the plywood/chipboard they are cutting. They're just working on the both. Patience young Grasshopper:D -
I see what your saying... Kinda like Kinzel talking about next years attraction targeting thrill seekers before Shoot the Rapids opened. But, how is it bad if they are doing so much cool stuff there's overlap. Dude 1: "Hey man, wanna go to KI? They have a new ride, a new dino thingy and they made CM beautiful." Dude: "No, sorry. I was hyped when they announced WindSeeker but now they're talking about Dinos."
-
Awesome Just as awesome Out of the park! That's what I was thinking?!? Kinda like takes one to know one I'm thinkin Biggie-Small (is that different enough from B.I.G.'s) Some other ideas: Teeth; Precious; Full Pint (think Little House...); Officer Karma, Lost (he's a Dinosaur in a parking lot); Snoopie EDIT: to add: Quijibo-bonus point to anyone who can define it

Last 7-2006 Son Of Beast Accident Case Settled

^ But she turned down a settlement and went through the hell that is trial because ...“All I ever wanted was the truth to come out and no one to ever be hurt again,”... As Terpy quoted above. If I was responsible for something that caused undeniable harm to someone... I doubt a shoulder injury requiring surgery was faked, I would feel guilty. The state has cleared SOB to run. Management has stated that they are not happy with the ride experience and will not open SOB until they are. If I were in charge, I would never run SOB if I genuinely believed it could hurt others. Being sore from a rough ride is one thing... getting injured is entirely different. Oh, did I mention lawsuits are expensive. I wonder what the true cost of SOB is (including all the settlements and legal fees). -
T-Rex is going to walk back and forth between the two. On another note, I agree that the T-Rex qualifies as big.

^ LOL My mind's eye saw you in the green wig saying that I love Racer for all that it is. If WindSeeker makes one side better than the other I might frequent it but, I have no idea looking ahead. I think it'll be cool that they're so close though!
-
Once I saw him walking around the park. We need a thread on Helibg in a hand basket. Wow, when did you stop being him and were you him for all those Racer laps too? EDIT: Did he change that or was I momentarily dyslexic? I don't know how no one responded to this, but from the looks of it, I'd have to completely agree. That appears to be the exact same T-rex. Dinosaurs Unearthed exhibit confirmed? We'll see. Also, welcome to KIC! They could just be using a replica of it. It just doesn't seem right for an amusement park to have an "exhibit" or walkthrough. Parks are for the rides. It's not a museum...... I disagree. Parks are supposed to be a get away, time out of time. The more immersive the feel the better. There's a little patio next to Paddle Boat Excursions at CP. I look forward to sitting there and chatting with my friends every trip. Actually, sometimes I daydream about that spot and not rides. I am sure my family will have some awesome times in this walk through and I think it's a great idea for KI. I have as much fun watching my daughter ride as I do riding myself. How well it works out, I have no idea but... I think it's a great idea to try. Terpy always has really good responses to this.

*headdesk* How has any clue led anyone to believe that this is a coaster? Please tell me what coaster can be built in six weeks, besides a Dragon Wagon... Wait... Oh my Helbig, I just figured it out. We're getting the world's tallest and fastest Dragon Wagon! Ride Warriors, are you ready for 11 feet and 9 MPH of pure, unadulterated thrill?! RIDE ON! Is that anything like Helbig in a basket? Discalimer: joke requires familiarity with outdated saying: Hell in a handbasket

Windseeker & Coney Mall Construction Continues
74Gibson replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I'm guessing vertical construction. My friend and his g/f stopped by and got some pics of the tower in the lot. She sat inside (I know, I felt like lecturing her too) and you can really tell how huge this thing is. -
^ There's a support group for that (wanting more from CF theming), it's called KICentral. They meet online Give some credit though... They are getting much better. KI and CP look better every year (capital improvements like Rivertown and CM) and they are fixing some theming and lighting. I think they did a great job with Planet Snoopy at KI too! My daughter will absolutely love this. Attractions like this and Shoot the Rapids (if it actually would have turned out as planned) may not be what coaster fanboys want but, without the family dollars that are attracted by rides like this, we wouldn't have big coasters. CP may be an exception. They kinda floated on always building a bigger, badder (sp of a non-word?) coaster for years. We know how that ended (i still love TTD though). Good move KI! So, all those black dots, on the side of the red line, on the map are dinos, this thing will be pretty impressive. Railrider's right, that thing's huge!
-
^ I agree Weird place to put a logical idea though:D
-
Hey! Stop complaining folks! This is quality entertainment.
-
^ "Turn back the clock on thrill" certainly fits that idea.

Just trying to get my post count up cuz that means I'm cooler (sarcasm, sorry for the double post).

I have only seen Don look angry once. No time to search for the pic but it was the promo for DB when he was mock beating a co-worker with a bolt for DB. I think he could be bad ass if needed. Ornery was the word. Spelling was the problem. Defamation of character was the misinterpretation. Trevor's got my back:)

I've talked with Don enough to know he's arnry (so?). I bet he loves teasing us like this.

Dinosaur animatronic exhibits have been popular in zoos for a few years, I don't believe KI would bring in the same atmosphere. Especially since KI already had the exhibit 11 years ago. Back then, robot dinosaurs were a good draw. I don't see the same draw today. I won't say it's not gonna happen, but, given that the park already had this at one time, and the energy being created by the park's marketing department, it does not add up. Now I did think of another possible idea: could this be the press release for 4th of July activities? KI has had a history of big 4th events. Hmmm. Good points. It seems a little to elaborate and has too many specifics to seem like a hoax to me. Maybe they're covering something but, I don't think so. Dinosaurs Live is a traveling exhibit and a huge hit in Fort Wayne. IDK how popular the show is in other demographics but it was a hit here. the press release linked a couple pages ago says that they were discovered May 20 and extinction occurs June 18 (my school's last day, arghhh), that's not very long so I'd guess it's a temporary exhibit.
