Zimmerman and company run a good ol boy network

It is starting to look that way for sure. As much as I want to see Six flags flourish and be successful, I think they are in way over their heads right now. You can't get rid of the most experienced and dedicated people and expect it to keep running good or better than it was before.

  2. Today, Saturday, May 31st Kings Island announced it is Mike Koontz Day.

Mike was always supportive of KIC and answered any questions when asked. I am personally very sad to see him go. KIC admin wish Mike all the best in his next adventure in his life.

Let's use this thread to post your congratulations , appreciation, and wish Mike all the best!

Here you see KIC interviewing Mike at the opening of Adventure Port.

Lanyards? They cut lanyards this year.

Are they just doing a wristband for the event? I appreciated the lanyard with the schedule on it, but I always put in a zipper pocket when not is use. They flop in your face when riding then if you tuck in into your shirt it stuck to your skin.

  4. I was walking to Grain and Grill from the Trading Company at the front of the park. This mother was taking a photo of her child. This child was about 4 or 5 and was standing on the bricks that are in front of the fountains. She asks him to dance for the camera. He turned around and started twerking. I looked at my wife and we cracked up.

I do hope the park puts one of their little stages under the tent and has some small live entertainment there.

I was thinking the open space closest to the tower would be a small stage for the live entertainment. That would keep the covered area for the tables.

Haven't ridden it yet but I would like to applaud the idea after thinking about it.  They could have put in a ride twice as long with 2 uphill pieces but that would have cut the ride wait time 75%.  On water slides you have to wait until the people ahead are out of the pool.  By having a shorter ride with two tubes at once they can put more people through per hour.   In my opinion KI doesn't need what other parks do to get people through the gates.  As has been said several times the waterpark is usually very crowded and that was without a water coaster.  By putting in a smaller ride and redoing a kids area and expanded shade/seating (and the upgrade of the boathouse drink stand) I think after seeing it this was a very well-thought out addition.

They could have also done it like Holiday World and put in a continuous loading and lift belt.

He got some great footage. I love his enthusiasm and excitement for the park rides, but please take the commentary with a grain of salt. I love the park too, but every addition or change at Kings Island is not the best in the whole industry.

  7. That is a good question. Our shows page has better info than the park app right now.  https://kicentral.com/current-shows/

    Country Crossroads is at 1:30, 2:30, 4:00, 5:30 PM

Hot Rhythm Nights is not even on the app to see show times even thought it started last weekend.

Gazillion Bubble Show starts this weekend May 31st. No times listed.

Trailblazers X-treme! starts June 21. No times listed.

I think the new tent looks great and makes sense for that location. Ate there on Saturday and enjoyed the shade and turf. Looks far better than the eyesore the Skyline structure is.

I understand people's concerns about its placement blocking the Carousel. I also see where this will be helpful when it comes to Food and Wine, Carivale & general seating.

    Prior planning prevents poor performance.

I think your may be judging Grace before we get to know her more. She made a judgement call that her being here to promote the current addition to Soak City was as or even more effective than letting the now former communications director stay to promote it. That move speaks volumes to me.

I am hoping when the dust settles, that KIC and the season pass page can have a working relationship with the communications department again. Chris and I would love nothing more than to order a new card and present it to the next Communications director at a future Coasterstock.

Also, look at the issues we had with Monster earlier this year. There was no official communication from Kings Island about it so anyone who saw the initial post could be led to believe that Guest Relations confirmed the ride was being retired.

The reason the website was even updated with proper information about Monster was because of KIC.

Honestly, I'd bet it's a new haunt. Cedar Flags probably won't spend the money to do anything major to that building.

I would agree unless we see definitive evidence otherwise. With all the staff cuts across the chain, I would agree with the second statement as well.
