Windseeker & Coney Mall Construction Continues
Diamondback FOF replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Are you sure that is new concrete and not old stuff they're tearing up so they can put down the new pavers? -
WindSeeker Construction is underway
Diamondback FOF replied to Colonel_SoB_fan's topic in Kings Island
I think....that might be old concrete and its being torn up so the pavers can be laid down. -
If they slow down the train sooner, doesn't the train have more time to accelerate on the first drop, so it could actually get to the bottom of the first drop going faster than it originally did? And I did know about them losing effectiveness when wet...."slippery when wet" applies
-
Even though they are more abrupt, they don't slow it to a slower speed than with the original skids, correct? They just get it to that slower speed sooner?

During this past summer, I started getting ice water when going out to eat instead of a soda. I never drank much soda anyways, but I cut it out almost completely and went a long time without any! Today, I still usually get ice water but have gotten a couple sodas recently During the day I drink a couple Powerade Zeros and water and milk

^^Wait, did you type that sentence with the ****'s or were those filtered in? Edit: Wait, nevermind...I tried it -
Cedar Point at least fixes their broken rides before spending money to add a new one. Dragster has thrown how many metal shards sky high? Millennium Force's lift cable snapped in two and they had it fixed within a matter of days. Mean Streak caught on fire. Two of Magnum's trains collided and it opened the next day. All four coasters will be operational for the 2011 season. then SOB has two accidents in a three year time frame and it's closed for how many months/years? What is wrong with that picture? Yes, I'm aware that CP and KI are both adding WindSeeker, and that KI is getting a dino walk. Yes, I would have been happier because CP takes every park I've ever been to and stomps it like a bug. Yes, and I do not see how this is relevant to my post. That's the same question twice. Yes, really. Excedrin is amazing for headaches. I've also noticed that the generic works just as well as the name brand. Hope you feel better. Separately: I do not appreciate these posts from others labeling all thrillseekers and enthusiasts as penny pinching cooler carriers who refuse to spend money in the park. That's complete bull and it's generalizing. I didn't think that kind of narrow minded attitude was tolerated here. If some of you are trying to get me to stop posting here, you're doing a terrific job. There ARE ways to post your opinion without being completely judgmental about it. I'm a thrillseeker and I'm proud to be one. I probably have far more guts than some of you ever will. Get over it. Last I checked, when a ride breaks down at KI, it is usually fixed that day or soon after. Of course things happen with a ride like Delirium when it might be longer because they have to order in parts from overseas. The Crypt works. No, it might not have some fantastic ride cycle, but it runs. It might break down often, but it DOES get fixed. With SOB, as has been stated, there is ongoing litigation involving that ride. Maybe KI is waiting for that to end. Maybe KI is thinking about possible ways to fix it. If they have decided they will do nothing to try to fix it and never want it to run again, would you rather them spend the money to demolish it (and that possibly prevent a ride like WindSeeker or a future coaster from being built) or leave is SBNO? Why would you have been happier if they didn't add Dinosaurs Alive? When people made posts labeling thrill seekers/enthusiasts, they DID say they were generalizing and it didn't apply to everyone in that group… a. I bet you are wrong about your first part. b. As to WindSeeker, you know this HOW exactly? Many people said the same thing about Flying Eagles. And most of the ones who said that hadn't ridden them, either. There's no cables to snap on WindSeeker. The Flying Eagles was always a different experience, because you never knew where you were going to get a snap or how much of a snap, but when you did, it was AMAZING! I'd ride that ride a million times a day over WindSeeker, as you well KNOW Terpy! Take a trip to Carowinds

And THAT is the reason I left the park several occasions to eat my dinner at Steak N Shake or skyline right off the exit if you go one exit south on 71! haha When I consider paying the $5 to do the walk through, I don't think it is too high. $5 seems like a reasonable amount to pay. Hopefully this will allow the animatronics and other features to stay in good working condition HOWEVER, when I think about a family with one or more kids, it does sound like it is a little high. $20 extra for a family of four is a good amount to have to pay after that family has had to purchase four admissions or passes. Nonetheless, I will spend one day in Dinosaurs Alive (but not the entire day haha) You, sir, need to stop your d*** complaining!! Honestly, do you ever read whatelse people say on here? Do you ever read what people say to our posts? Try actually thinking about what is being said! To quote Ron Simmons: darn! You want thrill rides, correct? Good cuz you're getting WindSeeker! I just don't understand why people are complaining about Dinosaurs Alive being added instead of a thrill ride! WindSeeker is being added. That is a thrill ride. As had been said many times, up until a couple weeks ago, it was thought only WindSeeker was being added and people were content with that. Then when something IN ADDITION to WindSeeker is announced you are suddenly unhappy because it isn't ANOTHER thrill ride?!? Also, you may say they need to cater to the thrill seekers....but if they can charge $5 per person in a family of four, they are more than making up for driving away a thrill seeker like you The park will, more than likely, make more money off of his attraction. It will being more people to the park, and those people that come for this attraction will then pay more to enter it. With a coaster like Diamondback, they are bringing in extra admissions, but those people may or may not actually spend money in the park.
-
It would be smartest to make the gift shop accessible without actually having to enter the attraction.... Maybe there will be a discount (like a dollar or two off) that just hasn't been announced yet or will be added later in the season I like it!!

Windseeker & Coney Mall Construction Continues

I agree with you! Just looking at it, it reminds me of Zephyr. But if you look at ppl beside it it is MASSIVE! -
http://www.wlwt.com/news/27237107/detail.html Sorry about the double post.

Honestly, how do you know they haven't started building this thing (whatever iot may be)? This thing could be completely built already! Maybe they didn't start yet and have a kick@$$ team that can get stuff ready VERY quickly

Windseeker & Coney Mall Construction Continues
Diamondback FOF replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Wait, are you telling me they don't start at the top and build down? haha Thanks for that bit. I wonder if they only built the part of the crane that will be needed first for some reason (idk what it could be...maybe Robbie can help?), and once it comes time to put on the top couple sections they will add more to extend it. Or maybe a second crane will be brought in? -

I wonder if that crane is at the full height it'll need to be at to put the top couple pieces on? I realize perspectives can be weird but that doesn't appear to be over 300 feet tall haha -
^Doubtful. I was watching Today on WLWT. During a commercial, WLWT had one of their advertisement and it said "Largest of its kind. Kings Island announces a new ride". I wonder if the news outlets have been told it is a new ride to be announced, or WLWT just assumed that

^^^^Here ya go! They do look similar

Thanks for the pix, Gator! Also, there are three-ish new pix on the KI site, along with a new banner, which states, "Millions of years in the making, something BIG is coming to Kings Island". The background of the banner seems pretty...bleh
-
...who I forgot to tell that I REALLY like that!! And I really like the way SO looks in that....so surreal
-
That's kinda what I was thinking. Did anyone go to Dinosaurs unearthed when it was at the museum center, or somewhere else? If so, how was it? I believe you. And I just hadn't watched the video yet...did after I posted
