  1. You are right! Some rides didn't have seat belts in the 90s....oh yeah standards change....often. Because your nephew could have gotten hurt, I'm sure the park will add extra padding everywhere for him. I'm sorry, but if you didn't feel comfortable with your nephew riding with the risk of him getting hurt...then why'd you let him ride? As for the closing time again, your fault. We're not going to cater to your complaints. Not all of us believe your statement as multiple people have stated, you should have just payed attention to the signs at the entrance of the park, checked online, etc. And 6 o'clock is not pathetic, ride ops are being courteous, they could just leave you hanging at 8 o'clock and then when you want to ride again they just say, sorry we're closed?!? Doesn't work that way. As for the comment most of the day will be gone by then, who's fault is that? Not the parks. Poor planning on your part doesn't constitute as an emergency on the parks part.
  2. Glad your nephew got to ride the things he hasn't been able to before. My question is did you check www.visitkingsisland.com or call the park to check for park hours? These will always have update hours for the park. Also as you walk to the front gates, there are LED signs that scroll to say what time the park closes and any event information for that day. Most ride operators will give a spiel as it gets closer to the time of closing about when the park is closing. For example when I worked on Diamondback, if we'd close at 8, around 6 if I was on the mic I'd give a spiel about the park closing at 8. I do not think that the park is ripping people off with ticket sales. Guests need to look at the website or call to find out hours before they come to the park. They don't need to cut hours to save money, they cut hours because of the changing of seasons, school is back starting back up attendance will be lower so they close the park earlier.
  3. Hey Angie, just wanted to say I miss you!

  4. I'm getting excited for this, may do this with my boyfriend and a group of my friends.
  5. When did the red side start operating backwards? For me, there was always a backwards and forwards side....so Racer does not feel nostalgic for me. Thanks to Captain Nemo for doing the video!
  6. such an awesome video!! Very bittersweet. Perfect song if I ever leave Ohio, my heart will be here. It was really weird to see video of SOB operating, I don't think I ever saw it operating! Thanks for sharing Terpy!
  7. Okay, I may be blind, what's the difference in the pictures?
  8. Keep going for it! If you're struggling take your time. It took me a season and a quarter of this season to get to 300. You can do it
  9. happy birthday Daulton!

  10. Hahaha...some days we were all told if we were separating to grant seat wishes the next day it'd be the opposite. If it was me I apologize. Thankfully I no longer work at the park so I no longer have to separate!
  11. Thanks, don't work there anymore but thanks! I can stand little arguments about different things but when it gets to people I know I get tired of it real quick. Gary was with me on my 300th ride of DB and he bought me my on ride photo! Wish I could have been there for his 3000th ride!
  12. I'm with you...there is no problem, it's a hobby. I'm tired of reading comments from snarky people about this. It's time to grow up and stop being so dang on critical of something someone does, it's not your life so get over it. As several people have said Gary is one of the most humble people I know. Get to know the guy before you even say anything about how he's going around parading. I'm sorry but Gary is a guy I look up to because of his life and things he has taught me it really irritates me when people are so critical of him.
  13. I agree with you Zach. No matter what the coaster is, if it's good you enjoy it wherever you sit. Yes I have seats I'd prefer to be in, 8-3 for DB but if I don't get it...no big deal I can get a great ride wherever I sit! I do think it helps the flow of guests. I hate getting into a station and people are all in one little area waiting for their "row" to open up.
  14. Diamondback96.... I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing --says the guy who sings in the shower! Terpy, Daffy > Goofy, I agree!
  15. I was told tonight by someone that Delirium is closed again....any facts in this statement?
  16. Barvarian I think he meant on any train, not just KI&MMV RR
  17. When I worked on Diamondback, there was a train that came back into the station singing "Party In The USA"......I just shook my head!
  18. I actually cut this out of the paper and put it on my wall, because my room is Amusement Park Themed, heavily themed by KI
  19. I'm waiting for the day I walk through HH and I hear "Touch Me" from Spring Awakening over the loud speaker. Epic Win!!!
  20. DB went down because you got stuck on the mid-course break? It has never been down because I went through the mid-course breaks! Just teasin!
  21. I really like this idea terpy!
  22. I don't think there is any purposed for them leaving there just the fact that they don't want to order a new face plate. I believe that in the drive box it still has the IJ stuff.
  23. I was in Phoenix, Arizona on vacation visiting a friend. On my last day 7/24/2010 my friend Ronda and I headed to Castles 'N Coasters. We got a $15 ticket at Food City. This ticket let us do unlimited rides and one round of putt putt. We got there about 6:30 pm, because we had a few errands to run. First thing we did was get our wristbands. Ronda got a stamp and I didn't. We went directly to Desert Storm. The ride op there mentioned that if you don't have a stamp you must go to guest services to get one if you want to ride. So I ran all the way back to the front of the park, got a hand stamp and got back in line for the ride. Desert Storm- This was an interesting coaster. They had two ride ops working the first time I rode. The train came into the station and we were instructed to not board the train until told to do so. We waited in the queue with no gates but a little sign on the floor that says do not enter, for about 5 minutes until we were allowed to board....the train just sat in the station why we sat waiting. Finally as we were told to board, they did a quick check of restraints and loose articles. I sat in 4-4. The lift hill was kinda cool, had chasing globe lights all the way up. The drop was awkward. It went immediately to the left. It was a little rough. The two loops were awesome!! Breaking system was kinda jumpy. This time I gave it a 6/10. Splash Down- We decided to do this next because it was hot, well Arizona is hot so of course we were going to do this! We ended up riding twice! This didn't get you completely soaked, but a good amount of water hit ya. The first turn was really rough...seems like it needed some kind of tracking. The hills were great! I give this a 9/10 for both times we rode it. Patriot- Cute little coaster! Again there were no gates. The lift hill was amazingly themed with paintings of the train filled with recognizable characters all the way up the hill. Although it was a simple coaster it was very easy and not rough at all! It sends you through 2 cycles which I thought was pretty amazing. There was only one scary part....when the 2nd cycle was complete the train didn't always make it completely back into the station so the ride op had to push it in. I give this one a 7/10. Magic Carpet- I've missed these rides (Himalayas). The music rocked and the fun was had! Apparently during our ride a couple of girls pulled their restraint bar out of the locked position so we stopped mid cycle. That was kinda scary! But after that was taken care of we had a blast going backwards!!! I give this a 8/10. Sky Diver- An incredible small scale Drop Tower. This ride is the newest at Castles 'N Coasters. It is 120 ft tall. The lift is smooth...but literally as you reach the top you are dropped! Uber fun! I'm sure I had a look of terror on my face! You drop so fast! I give this a 9/10. We then hit up the putt putt. We did course 3. It was quite interesting. Nothing too exciting. There were a few holes that you had to hit the ball up a steep ramp...not fun! Small park over all rating: 9/10. I'd go back! Hope you enjoyed reading...if ya have any questions just ask!
  24. pcc to answer your question about the I love the way we talk thing, I believe it was a cell phone company promotion in the park one day....I'm not sure who...but I believe that people take these things, don't want them and then stick them places.
