  1. According to Darren Rovell: "The national chapter of the ALS Association raised $23.5M in 2013. The Bucket Challenge in 22 DAYS has raised $22.9 million." https://twitter.com/darrenrovell/status/501716895733936128
  2. Quarter 2 results for Cedar Fair showed attendance down 2%. I would be willing to bet that this promotion might have something to do with that.
  3. And it is no longer hiding behind a SBNO wall of wood. I would imagine that decreased ridership numbers significantly. Visibility is key.
  4. Gold Striker opened at California's Great America in 2013.
  5. And watching people pull out their phones on the rides and videotape the whole thing without an employee saying a single word... a different place indeed!
  6. Today was my first time in this neat little park. I can see it being fun for families, but I am not the target audience here. However, I had a lot of fun over the span of a few hours, for a great price as well! Some notes: Tornado and Teddy Bear are fun little coasters, with a few pops of air on both. What I really enjoyed was the buzz bars. I can't recall ever riding a ride with these as the restraint system, so that was neat. Are they the same style of buzz bars that used to be on The Beast? Electric Rainbow = never again. Those rides make me sick every time. Like I mentioned, it's hard to beat the prices here. $15 for a full afternoon of stuff to do is very nice, especially in this day in age. I smoked the mini golf course like a cheap cigar. If anybody wants to compare scores (especially Goble, who apparently was the champ last fall), I shot a 22 on the front 9 and a 34 on the back, for a total of 56. The hole with the cone for a cup got me, as I shot a 9 on that hole alone! I hadn't played Skee-Ball in what seemed like forever, so that was fun! Some photos: Thanks for reading! If you have any comments/questions feel free to comment below.
  7. What you want to be built and what should be built are two totally different things. And saying that it is a bit early is quite a stretch at this point. Just enjoy the shiny new B&M we have right now!
  8. My sister scored 3930 against me last time we went. I got 150. I blame the guns on that one!
  9. As long as I don't get Ebola, I am not too concerned.
  10. Is the sunscreen being given out or do guests need their bring their own? I know that the free sunscreen was one of the most popular attractions at the park I visited last week...
  11. Did I just see you use a nickname invented by Mr. YoungStud? Is this the apocalypse?
  12. Even if she is still around, I was thinking more along the lines of not being nearly as visible throughout the park on a daily basis.
  13. On the website we stumbled upon a few days ago, there was a maze listed called Zombie Outlet in Action Zone.
  14. I would bet that Zombie Outlet is going in there for Haunt this year. It sounds like a zombie-infested mall- very cool!
  15. My girlfriend and I went to Holiday World yesterday for part of our anniversary celebration. She had never been, so we were very excited to go! It was a beautiful weather day in southern Indiana. Here are some notes and photos from our trip! The Voyage is still my #1 coaster anywhere. Especially in the back seat. Wow! Wildebeest > Mammoth We ate at the Kringle Kafe and the Plymouth Rock Cafe. Both were fairly priced and had pretty decent food. It was nice to enjoy an actual LAZY river. I missed those. Last time I was at Holiday World, I was met at the gate by Pat Koch. Its a shame she isn't around any longer. The GOCC discount ticket was very nice. And free drinks, suncreen, WIFI, etc... Saving money is always a plus! There was a lot of buzz around the Thunderbird sign, which I will have a picture of below. Many people were calling their friends and telling them all about the sign they were reading, and taking pictures to send to their friends. And the new orange track looks very crisp! I am excited for this ride! Gobbler Getaway blows BBOBH out of the water. I love that ride. I said it yesterday, but the drive on I-64 from Louisville to the park is beautiful. Winding through Indiana's fields and forests is truly a wonderful sight this time of year. Especially with the sun at our back on the way home. Wow! My girlfriend is not a big fan of wooden coasters, so her favorite ride in the park was Wildebeest. What she loved about the park was the attention to detail. The little things like everything being part of a theme, the overall cleanliness, and an obvious attention to keeping the decor looking fresh really blew her away! I really enjoyed this trip, and I can't wait to get back next year for Thunderbird. Holiday World is one of those parks that will always put a smile on your face, no matter what! One of the best! Here are some photos from our trip! Welcome to Santa Claus, Indiana! Potentially the coolest grandma in the world. Here is the Thunderbird sign in the Thanksgiving section of the park. Felt a little artsy with the sun shining on the nativity scene. Overall, it was a fantastic trip to a fantastic park. Despite the 8 hour drive round trip, we had a great day! I am blessed to have spent it with such a wonderful friend Thanks for reading. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post below! Merry Christmas!
  16. I voted for the trampoline portion, but my favorite part was when the clowns did the acrobatics off of the massive teeter-totter. It is not on the list of options, presumably because it is no longer in the show, but that part was by far my favorite.
  17. Can anybody direct me to this post? Does it still exist? I am interested to see it and try to remember what I thought of the discussion at the time
  18. I was at Holiday World today. There was a lot of buzz surrounding the sign describing what Thunderbird will be, including several phone calls from parkgoers to their friends/family in a state of disbelief. Entertaining indeed. And the orange color of the track looks fantastic.
  19. And many use them as eye protection....
  20. I haven't been to many parks, but here is my top 3. Maverick Maverick Maverick
  21. I finally got my first Banshee night ride tonight, in the front row nonetheless! Wow! The lighting package is beautiful, and the ride itself is quite the experience after the sun goes down. Banshee does not disappoint!
  22. I'm way to excited to sleep any time soon. Holiday World looks like they have a winner on their hands! Good for them!
  23. I'm not sure why it would matter what she wears... As long as everything that needs to be covered is covered it shouldn't be an issue, right? Wouldn't the outfit described in the article be more modest than a traditional bathing suit anyway?
