First Time To Holiday World
thekidd33 replied to Jasper's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
My two cents... I would ride Raven first thing if you are getting there at opening as the line tends to get lengthy since it is currently minus a train. IMO, it is best experienced in the very last row. Ride Voyage in the front seat. It is awesome to see everything speeding by and it makes for a much much smoother ride. Don't miss Liberty Launch!!! Gobbler Getaway is a ton of fun if you like shooting dark rides, wayyyy better then Boo Blasters (which I like a lot). If you are into spinning rides both HallowSwings and Scrambler are some of the best of their kinds Hope you have a great trip! -
That's an awesome trip for 2.5 hours! Glad you had such a great time. It is always fun to introduce others to our wonderful park.

Thanks for sharing! I am yet to have my first Great Adventure but I hope to get out there next summer.

Do we know if what type of pass the $69.99 is? I am assuming it will be for the regular season pass? Will there be do we know if we can expect price drops on the Gold and Platinum passes as well?
-
Oops! Left them off! Though with the new 49ers stadium being approved isn't CF's involvement with that property up in the air?
-
^^^Kings Dominion, Carowinds, Michigan's Adventure, Splash Water Kingdom. I can't see anything big be added at any of these though. KD and Carowinds just got huge addtions and I can't see MA or Splashwater getting anything huge.
-
Well it may be nothing or it may still be in the works. CF confirmed that they were planning on spending $80-$90 million in CapEx. So far we have only accounted for about half of that ($21 million on Planet Snoopy additions at VF, WoF, & Dorney + $20 million for the 4 WindSeekers). Granted we haven't heard anything about anymore CF addtions at this point but at the same time $39 million seems like a lot to spend on general park improvements.

^^If I were a betting man I'd say Saturday, April 16th.
-
^^I'm with you Cincy. I am sure that many will find it to be a lot of fun and I agree that it is probably an investment that will get a great return...but its not something I am personally very excited about riding.
-
Well this is certainly a nice surprise! Perhaps to avoid any possible legal troubles CF went ahead and placed orders for Starflyers/WindSeekers with both companies? Though I thought the heart of the issue was the patent on the ride technology, not the contracts to build them.
-
Certainly appears to be a nice B&M hyper in back which is never a bad thing! That woodie certainly has an Intamin-y look to it IMO. Certainly looks to be a pretty awesome park if it ever gets off the ground.

CP is getting a Taco Bell next year? I can only imagine how delish $4 tacos would taste!
-
I haven't seen any rumors of what the addition will be but there have been multiple reports of a number of survey stakes throughout the park. Here is Lance's take on it so far if that interests you. Screamscape Edit: Sorry for the double post
-
Or maybe Season Passes go on sale shortly after in at least those two parks.... I'm sure that they do.
-
I think that the fact that they are the same date points to the rides being the same/similar. The fact that Kinzel and Co. haven't singled out the date for CP alone is the final nail in the coaster coffin in my eyes. I think if the flagship park were adding another coaster the brass in Sandusky would make sure that was the only CF announcement that day. Guess we will see in a week!
-
While I agree the Screamscape and other fansites may not be the go-to source for calculating CF's cap ex for next year, if CP and CW both get the same Stratasoar rides for next year either Knotts is getting one heck of a new ride or there is another significant project out there that we haven't heard of yet.

SIX 2010 Q2 RESULTS

Seems like they are off to a pretty decent start to the post-bankruptcy era. Should be interesting to see the price points for season passes/tickets next year. -
Six Flags Announces New CEO
thekidd33 replied to bkroz's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Six Flag's 2nd Quarter Conference Call transcript can be read here. Attendance is up, per caps are down ever so slightly, and outstanding debt is $830 million, down from $2.7 billion before the bankruptcy. -
I fall into the "Season pass holder who won't wait in a long FH line" category. I LOVED the ride the first couple of times I was on it but since then the novelty has worn off for me. It is a fun ride but not one I am willing to wait 60 or 90 minutes for. Now my brother on the other hand, has ridden FH a ton and still loves it.

Aug 8 Holiday World trip report. (they don't charge for condiments!)
thekidd33 replied to TopThrill's topic in Trip Reports
Personally I love Liberty Launch, it for sure packs a punch! On Voyage make sure you are in the front as I agree the middle has gotten rough enough that it has taken a lot of fun out of the ride. -
I have to disagree with you there KI Man. There are certainly great coasters that have seats that make the ride less then great. Beast is a good example, Voyage is another. In both cases back wheel seats make an incredible ride almost intolerable to me. Now Voyage in the front row or Beast in the second to last row? Amazing rides on what can certainly be considered two great coasters.

FUN 2010 Q2 Results
thekidd33 replied to PhantomTheater's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The food prices at KI (and the other CF parks I've been to) have on more than one occasion helped determine our trip schedules. We plan to be in the park for only one meal (or less sometimes) because the prices are so high. I can echo Dave's observation of MiA's parking lot looking something like a massive group picnic. Thats a lot of $6 pizza slices and $4 drinks they aren't selling. Would they make more selling $4 pizza slices and $2 drinks? Maybe, maybe not. (Though Mr. Kinzel would certainly get more of my nickles.) -
FUN 2010 Q2 Results

I honestly believe current management would/will run the company into the ground before prices in the parks are lowered. For whatever reason, lower costs translating to higher sales does not seem to compute with them. I honestly fear a "No pass outs" rule being instituted before we see prices adjusted.
