While I personally (as an avowed B&M fanboy) think that BGW probably has the best overall coaster lineup of the four parks, I think that the Hershey/SFGAd combo offers the most variety ride-wise. El Toro, Skyrush, Nitro, Kingda Ka, Fahrenheit, and Storm Runner make a pretty awesome set of coasters to look forward too. While i305 has gotten rave reviews from most of the enthusiast community, I think the supporting rides at Hershey and NJFTP (hi Terp!) are much better than those at KD.

Cedar Point 2016 Talk
thekidd33 replied to Bansheeback's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It is only about an hour, hour and 15 min, from the park to Put-In-Bay (including the ferry ride) so staying on site at CP may be option for you. The early entry alone makes staying on property worth it. I'm not sure there is too much lodging wise between the park and Put-In-Bay besides the hotels that are near one or the other. I'm sure if there is someone here will know though. -
This. Those countdown threads were amazing.

I absolutely love Maverick as is but these new restraints will make it that much better. I am so glad they are making this change. -

Word on the street is that it was announced Maverick will be getting the soft OSTR straps (like I305 has). Can anyone that was there confirm that? -

Theme park in Alabama

Given yesterday's presentation about the sister park in Texas, I'd say there is no way either of these projects gets built. The promo video used looked like it was made in the 1970s. This coming from a company that reportedly spent a good portion of the presentation touting their upcoming films. -
We used to get the generic Six Flags commercials up in Indy when SFKK was still around. I was actually really surprised to see a billboard for Nickelodeon Universe up here this year.

^Given recent additions in the chain I think a dark ride might be a safe bet. If only there was some sort of building already constructed to house such a ride...
-
That is a nice touch! It really is the little things that take these projects up a notch.

The park may have "classic woodies covered" but we still lack a GCI type wooden roller coaster. I'm not complaining though, I do LOVE all 3 of the woodies at Kings Island, I just wish we had a nice GCI at the park to REALLY draw me. I would love to see a twisty GCI at KI. (Or CP, or MA.)

I think is one issue that bothers more than just enthusiasts. My wife and mother (both of whom are far from enthusiastic about anything related to the industry) have both commented about how annoying all the bouncing basketballs were.

Sadly, I feel like HW's shiny new toy is hardly item one on KK's list of issues.
-
^It is amazing how much of a difference little things like that make on a ride. Good job HW!
-
Is HW really cheaper? How much is admission to to KK? (I realize parking, drinks, etc. also plays into this.)

I really wish I could get myself into this mind frame. Patience is a virtue that I cannot seem to find in myself when it comes to waiting in lines, no matter what is there to entertain/distract me.

^I would fall into that camp. Banshee is an amazing ride, to me Diamondback is just more fun. To each his/her own though!

It looks like the Newport Aquarium is adding a 100ft rope bridge across its 385,000 gallon shark tank. The bridge is set to open mid-April along with a new otter exhibit in mid-March. In addition, the aquarium is acquiring multiple new scalloped hammerhead sharks. Source: http://www.attractionsmanagement.com/detail.cfm?pagetype=detail&subject=news&codeID=313472

I loved Wild Eagle so I would most likely enjoy Gatekeeper as well. I was think the same thing before I rode Gatekeeper. I absolutely LOVED Wild Eagle but found Gatekeeper to be incredibly mediocre after the first drop (that part is fun though).
