Favorite ride at Cedar Point.

There's no excuse for comic sans, ever. No matter where it's being read. -
While you could set that up yourself, using programs like Icecast and VLC, there are third party streaming providers that will handle all that for you. All you do is put a blob of HTML onto a page of the site, then use the mobile app from the provider to start the stream. You can accept ads and do it for free, or you can pay to get rid of the ads. EDIT: If you are setting something up and have a question, feel free to ask me. I've handled live streams of events with several hundred viewers at a time.

Leaked? Everything posted on this forum is public record. Building plans are protected by copyright, even though they are public records. Perhaps Warren County needs to do a better job keeping smartphones away from high profile project plans.

^ Certainly not Wildebeest or Mammoth. The coasters can build up lines too, especially before of after crowds are at the water park. If Voyage is only running one train, a station wait can take forever.

With so many people posting to YouTube, Twitter, and other sites all at once - even LTE is bound to be slow. (Not trying to discourage you, just be prepared for the stream to cut out!) By the way, if Ustream gives you any issues, you can always push to my icecast server and post that link.

Ed Alonzo's summer show ends on August 18. I don't know whether there will be shows on weekdays during the week of the 12th.

I was also there a year ago from that date (Monday, August 13, 2012). See this thread: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/26292-holiday-world-813-and-814/ Everything was a walk-on because bad weather and cool temperatures (mid 70s). I was one of only about a dozen guests ready to enter the park as it opened, during a thunderstorm. I don't know how crowds would have been had the weather cooperated. Since Wildebeest was closed, I returned to the park on Labor Day to finally ride that before the season ended. Crowds were also light then, despite dry weather and temperatures in the low-to-mid 80s. Labor Day was a great time to buy merchandise and clothing, since much of it was marked down at least 50%. I'm debating whether to make another visit this year, either during the week of August 12 or on Labor Day (September 2). Or I might end up elsewhere, perhaps Dollywood (for the first time in several years) or Kennywood (thanks to homestar92's trip report).

Perhaps they'll enclose the first drop, and it will steal Gold Striker's record. It's apparently popular with guests in California, and it could explain the owls and 10:00pm announcement. Not to mention that Mr. Helbig has experience with that particular (and probably unintended) record. (If it happens, we should all thank Prudential.) Very unlikely, but I'd be more surprised to see 10 inversions.

Was the point of creating this thread to criticize those who wear one?

The usual term for this is "achievements". They're usually used either in games or to engage new users. On a discussion forum, an achievement might be to post an image, start a popular topic, or log in X days in a row. Personally, I'd consider such a system to be noise.

Save the Date - New World Record Breaking Attraction

That would be the Terp effect, and it's rather contagious. Next thing you know, you'll be reminding people who could care less that they do care some.- 38 replies

The date and time were sent, along with "Save the Date", to anyone who subscribed to "KI Club" updates. That's a pretty safe assumption.

Would using the Coliseum building (ballroom/arcade) for a dark ride be economically feasible? The ground floor has low ceiling clearance and an excessive number of supports. The second floor has limited means of ingress and egress. Both floors likely have an insufficient maximum load. Such a remodel would certainly require extensive modifications to meet modern building codes. Edit: fixed "Coliseum"

^ How about a 10,000' "sky coaster"?

Some context: URLs on websites like Cedar Fair's, with content management systems, generally operate with a set of rules. These rules get interpreted by software running on the server, such as Apache's rewrite engine. Each rule defines one or more valid addresses. For example, there's most likely a rule that defines visitkingsisland.com/rides/*, with the * being a wildcard. This rule might turn a friendly address like visitkingsisland.com/rides/Thrill-Rides-12-14-11-44/The-Beast into a less-friendly address like visitkingsisland.com/content.cfm?id=Thrill-Rides-12-14-11-44&format=rides&name=The-Beast . When no rule is found, the default behavior is apparently set to redirect to the home page. The fact that a rule exists for visitkingsisland.com/Banshee only means that someone on their IT/web staff defined it. Keep in mind that the park knows that the enthusiast community is well aware of that trademark application. Web developers can be sneaky people, and even they might not have access to details of the ride yet. Perhaps they used this name for testing an announcement page, not yet knowing for sure what the name would be. It's still premature to draw conclusions.
-
The fact that http://www.visitkingsisland.com/Banshee directs to a 404 page, whereas http://www.visitkingsisland.com/anyslug does not, indicates that the Banshee url is defined. Slugs that aren't defined redirect back to the homepage. One plausible reason would be that updates to a configuration got transferred to the production server before the new content. (Hopefully they don't push the content the day before the announcement, like Cedar Point did with Gatekeeper.) Edit: Beat by seconds by Dom497

^ Just wait until you have to repair it. Then you certainly wouldn't want to have an Apple coaster.
-
Sometimes it's funny to compare this forum to PointBuzz. 45 minutes ago, Tony Clark tweeted "Gonna need some help with the 2014 announcement. You in?". Total comments about it on PointBuzz: 2.
-
^ As several people have hinted, picking two numbers between 1-31, combined with "there may not be a day", seems to indicate two announcement dates. Recall that in 2011, WindSeeker and Dinosaurs Alive! were announced on separate dates.

^^ Asking is a lot better than trespassing, for sure. The latter is a crime. Since none of us are the customer, contacting Clermont Steel Fabricators about their B&M coaster track is not appropriate. I wanted to make that clear. We don't want anyone from this site harming Cedar Fair's business relationships by annoying their vendors.
-
I was going to say something similar, but you kinda beat me to it. If people want to take pictures of track on the CSF property, why don't they just call them ahead of time and ask....or drive over there, stop in the office, and ask in person. Ohio law is very clear on that; entering private property without authorization is trespassing. You should never call any of Cedar Fair's vendors to inquire about anything related to their parks. Trust me - vendors hate when they are contacted by customers of their clients. This can strain these types of relationships. Take photos from the road, but stay out and leave CSF alone. Please.

^^^ I think Brian's idea was more about making the TOS explicitly clear that content suggesting park rule (or law) violations is not tolerated. (eg. unauthorized photos/videos, "jokes" about trespassing) Looking at http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/4128-terms-of-service/ , I don't see anything specifically about park rules.
