^ The quote is from what Don told us at the June KICentral event. He also posted it in this thread, on page 115:
-
Sure. At face value, the statement hints that the announcement will occur after summer ends on September 1 (meteorological) or September 22 (North American calendar definition). If you try to "decode" the meaning of the hint, you might conclude that the announcement will happen at night (so there's not a day) or will be read by someone other than the park's management. ("...when we announce..."). I was half-jokingly suggesting that "this summer" might suggest a 2014 announcement on the day of the year that a previous summer ride announcement (eg. Diamondback's) happened. Fire-Beast-OF FEAR suggested a meet-up at the park to celebrate the anniversary of Diamondback's announcement five summers ago, so I suggested that he could be on to something. Or, as Jon noted above, the hint could mean nothing whatsoever. The statement is guaranteed to be true because of the "may not" wording.

"There may not be a day this summer that we announce what we're building for the future." Perhaps Fire-Beast-OF FEAR is on to something. What if Don's quote implies an announcement date coinciding with another attraction's anniversary from a previous summer? Corny, I suppose, but it beats Intamin vs. B&M debate.

^ Use Google Play's audio search instead. It has a bigger database - everything for sale in the Play store.

^ If the forum is working, you're on the new server. The forum on the old server is now offline.

All photos from that plant in this thread were taken from public property. Trespassing is bad.

Sit in the front seat of a car. The front of the 5th and 7th cars tend to be most popular around these forums. Riding in the back of a car is not fun, especially if you're tall. I ended up hitting my knees, banging my head, and even graying out.

He was trapped on the old server, posting things that most users couldn't see. Being isolated from the rest of the world was a common theme on the Rod Serling show.

The server change resulted in new authoritative DNS servers. Changes to these can take up to 48 hours to propagate across the entire Internet, so these issues could continue until 10:00am Sunday. Apparently, adding the new records to the old authoritative server isn't possible due to a Wordpress error. I'm not sure of those details. If you get to the old server now, the workaround instructions I posted are displaying on a "maintenance mode" downtime page. EDIT: By the way, Terp is trapped in The Twilight Zone.

I'll certainly be there!

More posts lost during the server migration: Something we should probably take into consideration is the possibility that they have not yet built the remaining footers for the lift hill. I've seen recent construction photos that have shown dump trucks traversing the area where those footers would be placed. By not constructing those additional footers yet, it would make it easier for the trucks to move through the area without running into a footer that has already been constructed. They may be waiting to build them until after they've finished whatever they're doing in the construction zone just on the other side of the fence adjacent to Delirium. There were also several posts not related to decoding 2014, which I didn't quote.

I'm still getting the old server on some devices. I posted a message there, so anyone else ending up there knows they're getting outdated pages. If anyone is having problems seeing new posts, you may have a bad DNS server (*cough* time warner *cough*) that is storing the cached IP address longer than the TTL allows. Clearing your computer's DNS cache, rebooting your device/router, or simply waiting a few hours might resolve the problem.

Starting to Decode gone?

^ Well said. This website has no obligation to host anyone's content. A discussion forum, like this one, exists to facilitate civil conversation. Comments that don't further this purpose have no place here. -
Nothing wrong with that; walking is great exercise! You should see the way I go around Cedar Point when I'm alone... Ha. I do that too. Glad I'm not the only one! Probably good that the three of us ended up together on KIC Day, then.

You're correct. This respect shouldn't have to be communicated. Unfortunately, not everyone uses common sense. As such, it's not enough to simply not encourage illegal and unsafe activity. We need to actively discourage it.
-
It certainly would be that person's fault. Entirely, though? I think not. Many of us share blame for the attitude that may have contributed to today's unfortunate event. Luckily, we all can help fix it. Perhaps we need to cool down the hysteria a bit. We certainly don't want to contribute to someone's bad decision because we're worked up about some new construction activity. More explicitly, we need to communicate respect for the law and park rules at all times. In this specific example, if a member is suggesting that someone visit the park to take pictures of construction, we need to be explicitly clear that we're not suggesting any trespassing or rule violation. As recent events have reminded us all, safety is the priority in this industry. If "enthusiasts" are compromising that in any way, parks would be smart to have nothing at all to do with them.

No announcement doesn't mean that harm hasn't been done. The fact that Ryan was made aware of misbehaving member(s) speaks volumes. People who consider themselves "enthusiasts" should set an example for other park guests. Others may be ignorant or indifferent of park rules, but "we" should know better. The sad fact is that, perhaps unfairly, these actions have reflected badly on all of us. Thus, we all need to be committed to ensuring that nothing like this ever happens again.

Windows 8's user interface (Metro) is extraordinarily bad for a desktop computer. It works well enough for touchscreens, tablets, and the like - but that's not where most people are using it. Sure, you can "get used to it" and regain productivity, but arguing that is missing the point. For desktop productivity, Metro isn't intuitive and doesn't lead to a more productive workflow. The only entity that benefits from you learning to be productive with Metro is Microsoft, who would really like to sell you your next phone or tablet.

I was just wondering what dinosaur of a camera took this picture. Please for the love of GOD, if you want to share a picture make sure people can make out what is in it. At least these were not as bad as http://www.flickr.com/photos/95776358@N02/9353295890/ It was probably taken with MDMC01's non-smartphone camera. He wanted me to post them here, since no one else had posted any after last night's hysteria.

^ yes. Matt sent them to me to post here.

Whatever's visible from the tower must be so awe-inspiring that no one can stop looking and post a picture. That, or everyone has a DSLR without a usb host cable for their phone.
