Announcing KICentral: The Revival - TICKETS ON SALE NOW!
malem replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
^ I live in Columbus, so meeting in-person probably isn't an option. If you have a PayPal account and a checking account, the easiest thing to do would be to send the funds that way. I could remit them from there directly to the Accesso checkout, then send you the PDF to print. Anyone got connections to Cedar Fair IT? -

First, try installing and using a different browser - Firefox, IE, Safari, Chrome, etc. If it still doesn't work, send me a PM with the exact message the site is giving you, as well as your browser and OS versions. I can probably figure out a fix. Alternatively, if you haven't ordered by the time I place my order, I could order yours as well. Splitting the $6 inconvenience fee would be a bonus. (Though you'd have to trust me to handle your digital ticket.) -
I trust you didn't make her cry? That poor kid from your trip report earlier this year... On a related note, did they used to be faster? I recall some painful collisions in years past, though being younger could have been a factor.

It's Google Analytics. I have no idea how nicely Accesso plays with it. If even 0.1% of customers get an unrecoverable error message when ordering, that's hundreds of thousands of dollars of lost revenue every year. Many times what fixing the bug(s) would likely cost. In related news, the Accesso store is finally reliable on the Linux version of Flash as of this year. (A bug which I've been complaining about since 2010, long before Cedar Fair came aboard.) Back on topic, I'm excited about this event. I'm 98% sure that I'll be able to make it, and I should be 100% sure later this week. -

If Cedar Fair is smart, their analytics software is tracking such error messages and reporting the estimated dollar amount of lost sales. Sadly, I doubt this is happening. -

Apple computers definitely open it, though yours apparently does not. Does the text "Error #2046" appear at the bottom of the page when you attempt to launch the store? That message, and some other related messages, are connection errors usually caused by a bad or missing SSL certificate. To fix this on OS X, first ensure that all OS updates are applied. Then, reset your system caches by rebooting into Safe Mode. Finally, reboot normally. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564 -

Paypal is an accepted payment method on the Accesso store, but you still have to do the Flash checkout and pay the $6 fee. If people want to reduce the fee, it would be possible to send money via Paypal to one person, who would complete the checkout and split the PDF file containing e-tickets. -

^ See the (edited) original post for purchase instructions, or follow this direct link. The price is $22 for season passholders and $50 for those needing an admission ticket, not including the $5.99 processing fee for each order. Also, Adobe Flash is required to access the store, which means that it won't work on a mobile device. -

Bumping the thread for anyone who didn't notice that tickets are now on sale. If anyone wants to order as a group to split one $6 online processing fee, send me a PM. (As with all Cedar Fair online ticket purchases, a processing fee - now $5.99 - applies to each order.) -
You'll be in the park until almost midnight anyway, with movies starting at dusk (initially ~9:40pm). I wonder if Soak City's hours will be extended these days, so there's something to do there before the film starts. I also wonder if they'll prevent people from crossing over to Soak City after Kings Island closes at 10:00. (What if they have a locker rented there?)

^ A less visible route would be to exit onto OH-48 and take that to Columbia Rd.

If roller coaster track is indeed coming through Columbus, the project involved can't stay secret much longer. In case anyone's interested enough to reload traffic cameras over and over, here's a traffic camera of I-71 south of the I-70/I-71 split: http://cmhimg01.dot.state.oh.us/images/CMH/CMH069-L.jpg (left side is southbound) In case one camera's not enough, here's a list of them all: http://www.buckeyetraffic.org/services/Cameras.aspx To be truly thorough, one might want to check I-270 bypassing Columbus. That list should include every operating traffic camera in the state.

From a historical perspective, marking Saturdays in August on your calendar might be a smart move. (But not 8/10, because that's CoasterBuzz's Beast Buzz.)
-
Do they charge less for forgoing them? Menu board prices there are for "combos" of pizza and breadsticks.
-
You won't be charged for tap water, whether you request it in a (miniature) cup or in your souvenir bottle.

I don't know if the Accesso store will let you reprint the ticket, if you didn't save the PDF from the first time around. Since you've visited once, it's considered used. Assuming you do get it reprinted, my suggestion is to visit Guest Services if you have problems getting in. The policy is that it must be signed both times at the gate, with the second signature matching the first. This prevents ticket fraud. As to whether they'd let you in anyway, only the park can give you an answer. If you can't get it reprinted, you could visit Guest Services with your e-mail confirmation, photo ID, and the credit card you paid with. Again, absolutely no guarantees. You may want to call the park beforehand, if the ticket's validity will affect whether or not you visit.

According to Canada's Wonderland's website, the price for new and renewed adult platinum passes is going up to $192 from $180/$174. Anyone planning to purchase, renew, or upgrade should do so on/before Monday. (Same advice applies for gold, which won't be available at any price once the early season promotion ends.)

Excellent report and pictures. I really enjoyed reading it - thanks! It's especially uplifting to read about a differently abled fan enjoying the park. Glad you all had a great time!

^^^ Also, TombRaiderFTW was nice enough to write a mini-tutorial with step-by-step instructions for posting photos here. http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/26752-tutorial-how-to-upload-photos/

^ Now the article's correct, if not necessarily complete. "Ignore all rules" is intended to apply to situations where policies are being used to support an undesirable result, such as a factually incorrect article. In this case, simply deleting the factually incorrect information is almost certainly better than adding original research. I'm aware that the policy doesn't mean to literally ignore all of the rules.

All facts in any encyclopedia should be come from verifiable secondary sources. For most amusement parks, however, the current operating status of individual attractions generally isn't published. Perhaps remove the status completely, if the article is to contain only citable information? Then add it back later when there's a citable article about the Knott's WindSeeker reopening. Or maybe WP:IAR applies here.

I would assume that on a cell phone, it would connect you to the 911 service that would serve the area in which the tower resides. Especially on a non-smartphone that doesn't have GPS. In the US, even non-smartphones have had GPS capabilities for emergency calls since 2006. Your 911 call is probably routed to the municipal/county 911 dispatch center applicable to your location. Unless it's Disney World/Reedy Creek, it's not going to be internal to an amusement park. Most 911 calls and police dispatches are public, so all-too-eager local journalists can jump on non-stories and report them as news.

Not ride ops, but the admissions people at the Cedar Point resort gate decided to lower the metal gate as I walked towards it. After looking at me like I was crazy for several seconds, they raised it back up and let me in. As I walked away, the admissions and security reps were chuckling. Well played, I guess. EDIT: Several guests witnessed Cedar Point slamming the door on me. One found me at Magnum and asked how I knew those admissions people. I didn't. Combined with the truck horn incident last year, I'm almost convinced I have a secret enemy who works at Cedar Point.

There was a tweet that said 308 That tweet was in response to @gahannaman on Twitter asking the park to think of a meaningless number between 300 and 309. http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/26972-a-diversion/?p=501485 Clearly, @gahannaman was trying to extract a hint about a giga coaster. Perhaps the response was a hint, or maybe it was a false clue. Or it might have just been Don picking a number.

Your registration question appears to be answered on the CoasterMania webpage, https://www.cedarpoint.com/rides/Calendar-of-Events/CoasterMania There's no pedestrian path outside the park to get between the main lot and the resorts, so it sounds like you would be going to the admissions window at the resorts gate. Or perhaps the beach gate, if that's open early.
