The park has had warnings posted for months now. Definitely not their fault that people are freaking out.

^ Good advice. Also, make sure your car windows are fully rolled up, even if it's hot. As for what the heck muffleheads are, I think a picture is warranted. (Thanks Wikipedia)

6/30/2013: Tweet-ups, Scarecrows, and More!
malem replied to coasterfanatic83's topic in Trip Reports
KICentral dominated this tweetup - nice! It's actually scaring people? That's hilarious. Part of me wants a late announcement, just to see what else they come up with to keep the buzz going. Someone's having way too much fun with this. -
Since old tweets are difficult or impossible to refer back to, here's the conversation in chronological order for reference:

There is certainly interstate commerce involved with constructing a large amusement park ride.

Twitter still offers an SMS service; I forgot to mention it above. This will work on any mobile phone, but text rates will apply if you don't have an unlimited plan. See http://support.twitter.com/articles/14589-getting-started-with-twitter-via-sms#

Vortex Gives Its 40 Millionth Ride Last Saturday
malem replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
For big milestones, do they congratulate the lucky rider? In related news, Congo Falls recently gave its 20 millionth. -
You don't have to provide personal information or give up your privacy. Just make up a username and provide a working e-mail address. It isn't Face Book. You don't even need an account to view "tweets". If you want to participate, you'll want an account so that you can reply or prove that you're a "follower". If you only have to show the tweet, you don't need an account at all for that particular "tweetup". As for viewing "tweets", you can: Install the Twitter app for Android or iOS, then log into a Twitter account. If you regularly read posts on several Twitter accounts, it's a decent enough app to use. Visit http://twitter.com/kingsislandpr in your mobile browser Add http://www.twitter-rss.com/user_timeline.php?screen_name=kingsislandpr to your RSS reader Use any of the other thousands of websites and apps that make use of the Twitter API. EDIT: or use SMS, even on dumbphones: http://support.twitter.com/articles/14589-getting-started-with-twitter-via-sms# If you can't, I'm sure someone here can help!

The latest craze in the Twitter world is joining a "tweetup". That is, a meet-up via Twitter. Tony Clark from Cedar Point and Don Helbig from Kings Island have jumped on this, offering special treats to Twitter followers who participate. Prizes so far have included front-of-line access at CP and tours of The Beast at KI. Clues are posted in advance, with the exact time and location revealed just before the meet-up time. The number of winners is limited, so you must pay attention and be quick to follow instructions. To be eligible, you must be following @KingsIslandPR (or @TonyClarkCP, for CP) on Twitter. You must be ready to show the tweet on a mobile device. This morning, Don hinted via Twitter that there will be another tweetup today: If you're at the park today and are carrying a mobile device, show up and represent KICentral!

All store-bought eggs are pasteurized. This is not true. Actually VERY few shell eggs are. The process is patented, expensive and rare. Products containing egg must be pasteurized, of course. This would include store-bought cookie dough, products like "Egg Beaters", egg nog, frozen desserts, etc. Granted, the risk from eating raw eggs is usually low, especially for a healthy person. Still, it's much better to be safe than to risk a day throwing up. Or worse.
-
^^ And eat unpasteurized eggs? You must like living on the dangerous side of life. I still have 8 unread pages of this thread, after ignoring it for a day and a half last week.

If being startled is what you're afraid of, you may have already done the "worst" (or "best") Haunt there with Tombstone Terror-tory.

The subject of the e-mail newsletter sent out by the park today is "Summer flies by. Sometimes at record speed." Perhaps it's another subtle hint. Or perhaps it's not. Maybe it will end up being the fastest ${type of ride} in ${region of the country} that is themed to ${type of evil phenomenon}.

^ Information on fireworks that night is on the park's special events page: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/things-to-do/special-events Given the crowds and the distance, I won't be there on the 4th. Any Columbus-based members of this forum going downtown on the 3rd?
-
^^ Urine in a pool is hardly an abnormal event, and Tidal Wave Bay is huge. Most of it was apparently closed, so any increased "contamination" might have been offset by fewer bathers. They take water chemistry seriously, for good reason. It's quite certain that it was within safe parameters at all times the pool was open - before, during, and after this event.

Do you need to "like" your own posts?

My guess is that your friend is telling a tall tale. If your friend's dad came across project details in the course of his work, he has a moral if not legal obligation to refrain from disclosing them.

A Columbus Zoo food service employee to a guest who tried to order a soft drink: "Water's better for you. What size do you want?" The guest answered, then left with a cup of water.
-
^ I'm sure you're much safer around water, with or without a life jacket, having those skills.
-
^ You make a good point; the deep-end policy is excluding guests. Hopefully they find some portable lights. I'd think that with less buoyancy, water skills would be even more helpful.
-
The park offers life jackets free-of-charge. At many attractions, including the wave pool, they are required for non-swimmers. No matter how tall they are. You really should learn to swim, even if you don't plan on swimming. It could save your life, and it would allow you to participate at Soak City without either wearing a life jacket or breaking a safety rule.
-
The lights-on tours might help you with the mazes. It will be a Saturday, so doing all of them without Fright Lane isn't likely. Ryan is more creative than that. I wonder if Ronny will find another sponsor.
-
^ Please tell me that the ride op didn't let either of them ride.
