  1. Great report! I'm going to make absolutely certain I have enough money in my budget next year to do Coasterstock. As for the Color Me Rad 5K crossing your entrance route, I came out of Soak City around 8:30 and was held up at the road along with several dozen other people by KI security for a couple of minutes before they stopped traffic to let us across to the finish line. So it seems they figured things out and were making the race participants take turns with vehicular traffic. (Which is fine, because it was not a timed or competitive event.)
  2. They say the park is set to open May 23. Um, that's THIS SATURDAY. Really? Can they really get even a reasonable number of rides (never mind all of them) ready for the season by then, having only JUST gotten the financing? Financing that is contingent on opening by Memorial Day, which is next Monday? I'm trying to be optimistic here, I really hope they can succeed, but IMO this has failure written all over it.
  3. At first I read that as Millennium Falcon, and I was like "what the ****, man?" But then I realized what you actually wrote. Carry on.
  4. Organize your rides something like this: Diamondback Firehawk Woodstock Express Vortex Invertigo The Beast Banshee White Water Canyon The Bat Flying Ace Aerial Chase Adventure Express Surf Dog The Racer Race For Your Life, Charlie Brown Delirium WindSeeker Drop Tower Backlot Stunt Coaster Congo Falls That will really rack up the steps.
  5. Back on closing weekend last year, KIC got a lights-on tour of Madame Fatale's. IIRC (and somebody please correct me if I'm wrong), that building has quite a bit of space to expand the maze if they so choose to.
  6. According to a photo I saw on Facebook today (posted by a friend of mine), the arms have now been removed in addition to the cars. One person commenting on the photo said that he spoke with Don during ERT last night about it; that person said that Don said it would be back open "within a couple months", but with "no specific time frame" (quotes are the words of the commenter).
  7. http://www.lrc.ky.gov/Statutes/statute.aspx?id=41877. The link will tell you which types of records are exempt from disclosure. IANAL, but I don't see in there where lease agreements are exempted, unless they are covered by paragraphs K or L.
  8. I hope they get arrested. It is a violation of Ohio law to throw anything off a tower ride like that.
  9. Well, that's stupid. I would think that citizens ought to have the right to know what their government is agreeing to. Apparently not.
  10. Can the actual lease agreement be viewed online anywhere, and if so, where is it?
  11. Well, her profile says she's 18, AKA an adult, so I didn't think too much about being school age. And how does friends splitting the cost of gas on a road trip turn it into a vehicle for hire (which I would interpret as charging a fee with the intent of profiting, as with a taxi)?
  12. OK, this is an honest question, not an attempt to dispute. Exactly how could Republican control of the government affect Kentucky Kingdom? I mean, I get that Hart is buddy-buddy with the Democrats, but precisely what actions could a Republican government take to negatively impact KK? I thought all the loan and other contracts were already signed, finalized, and binding. What am I missing here?
  13. Well, if you already bought the ticket, then it's apparently a done deal. However, check with your school as to whether they'll let you drive to the park separately, or if you're required to ride the bus. If they'll allow you to drive separately, the cost of gas might be less than the cost of the locker (especially so if you have a few friends that are willing to ride with you and split the gas in return for using your car as a locker).
  14. How much is the discount? Sorry, but I'm a bit perplexed as to how you would save over $14 off the online ticket price of $41.99 Mon-Thurs/$44.99 Fri-Sun. I would think the school, even at group rates, would have to lose money on the deal to offer you that deep of a discount.
  15. I think people are misintepreting the thrust of this topic. I interpreted it as not so much about unpopular opinions, but about coasters that you yourself think are bad coasters, yet you find yourself occasionally riding and enjoying them anyway in kind of a masochistic way.
  16. Is it a full-sized backpack or one of those little drawstring bags? The latter probably could easily fit in a small locker with a couple of cups. The former would depend on how full it is and how much you can compress it. Is this discount greater than the cost of a locker (which I'll note is $14, not $16, if you don't need phone charging capability)?
  17. Fair enough, but this option is ruled out for me under the circumstances in which I’m going. And what are these circumstances?
  18. This. Get a good pair of cargo shorts, preferably with zipper pockets (you can add zippers with a little sewing machine work), and carry nothing but a small wallet, your keys, and maybe your phone. Unless you have a medical condition that forces you to carry extra equipment, that's all you should need; if you're carrying a backpack or a bag of any kind, then you're carrying too much stuff.
  19. None. I'll ride anything once for the credit, maybe twice in different seats, but if I decide something isn't fun, I generally don't waste my time on it in the future. Examples: Invertigo and Vortex.
  20. SR&R last year, Monster this year, and Scrambler next year? Possibly? Did SR&R's breakdown start a trend here? Stay tuned.
  21. Yes, they have "limited quantities", but they rarely sell out, and typically only on the busiest of days (which a Friday probably won't be). Absolutely wait until you get to the park and get a feel for the crowds yourself. And by that I mean walk around a bit and look at all the major ride lines after the initial rope-drop rush goes away, then decide. It's likely, but not guaranteed, that you can get through most everything without FL(+). In particular, hit Firehawk and Flight of Fear immediately after rope drop to bypass the long lines they will have later in the day; they are usually walk-ons or almost so during the first 15 to 20 minutes or so immediately after rope drop.
  22. You're going to tease us with the perks of the Florida parks all summer, aren't you?
  23. ...hence why I prefer to pay full price for each drink. (Well, minus the 10% Gold Pass discount, anyway.)
