I agree with you about Mysteria, it really seems like they just pulled it out at the last minute to say "Hey, we have 2 new attractions!" Quality over quantity...honestly, we could have 4 mazes (Massacre Manor, Urgent Scare, Slaughterhouse, and Club Blood) and that would be enough!

Why, Cedar Fair, why? Each park needs to be unique. Now every Cedar Fair park almost has a DA! or WindSeeker.

Brief overview of what I think of Halloween Haunt mazes: Slaughterhouse is so scary, I don't understand how you guys don't agree! I find myself running out of the maze every time. Holiday Horror is funny, which is why it's one of the best (but last night, I did not get one scare out of it). Wolf Pack actually was one of the best and there was a scare around every corner. Club Blood is greatly themed and fun but only a few scares. Cut Throat Cove just plain stunk, cool theme and the pirates looked very realistic, but not scary at all.

What if it's a lie just so people can go "Oh no! We need to get our passes now before everybody else gets them!" perfect marketing strategy.... I think KI's best kept secret are the posters in the Thrill Seekers store. I got a Family Guy poster there for $8, and they have a ton of cool other posters.

I am also somewhat disappointed with Haunt this year, but it is not a high budget thing, like Universal Studios' Horror Nights (or whatever they are called). They could add more scareactors in the mazes, such as Club Blood, Slaughterhouse, and Urgent Scare, and scrap mazes that are just plain bad (Mysteria, Cut Throat Cove, CornStalkers, etc.). Like you said OP, they are going for quantity not quality. Instead of adding mazes that stink (except I loved Holiday Horror), they need to spend time on designing a great maze that will blow everyone's minds and do this once every two years so it is more quality, not quantity. Also, the lack of fear zones don't bother me. There is still a ton of fog and scary music playing around the park, along with Halloween decorations - too many people scaring guests would drive them out of the park!

Wow, I heard it was REALLY bad yesterday with crowds. I went yesterday, and it was ridiculously packed. A lot of people are complaining about apparently the attendance being very high! I feel bad for the people that went for the day (GP)....that must have sucked.

This song for Holiday Horror creeps me out...

^Yup, I went today for coasters but....nah. It was like Taste of Chicago (for those who know what that is like).

It's actually strange how the crowds work out. 7PM: Packed, hour wait for Diamondback, Beast, and forty five minute waits for all mazes 8PM: ^Same 9PM: ^Same 10PM: AZ completley dies down, five minute wait for Club Blood and no wait for Wolf Pack, fifteen minute wait for Slaughterhouse 11PM: Coney Maul is crowded, half hour wait for Massacre Manor and Mysteria 12AM: A lot of people leave, no crowds 1AM: Close

^It was? I went, while it was not crowded, it was not dead for me! Waited half hour - forty five minutes for most mazes.

So, I went last night, and I have some very surprising maze reviews. Mysteria - It was.....GOOD! I can't believe I am saying this. It was actually above average. The fog almost blinded you last night and the people blended into walls and curtains. I got scared a lot, surprisingly. It redeemed itself! 7/10 Wolf Pack - Another redeeming for a maze. So much scarier this time! It was also really gross, and there were a lot more actors inside. 7/10 Later I will post the other mazes I did.....

As in, we liked the ones people have been giving bad reviews to? (for whatever reason) or are they just typed weird? As in, the ones I love you thought were O.K. and the ones that I thought were terrible you thought were good. hah.

I somehow found this topic, and saw this post.... ....whoa.

My friend and I went last night, and I was about ready to leave because of him. In every maze, he would say, "You're not scary dude!" or get up close to their face and act like he was scarier than them. While he thought it was funny, it really isn't. It makes you look like a fool. Actually, some older kids did make fun of him for doing so. I know you guys don't care, but I had to vent somehwere...

That's exactly how it is. I thought it was a long train ride, and that was the whole Haunt. Guess not...

My other mazes for the night: And I didn't put them in order of time because...I don't know. Massacre Manor (twice) - Did this twice because it was 12:45 and everyone was leaving! Surprisingly, at such a late hour, it was a lot scarier than Friday night during the most crowded part of the night. There was no realtor in the beginning of it though...that ruined it somewhat. 8/10 Urgent Scare - Not as good as on Friday, definitley. There weren't as many scareactors and it was really dark for some reason, and you couldn't see too well. Disappointed, but still my top because of the funny lines the people say. 7/10 Club Blood - First one of the night at exactly 7. It was alright, it was really dark just like Urgent Scare and a lot of the people that scared you were hidden. It is still fun to mess with the girls in it, and is still a very fun maze, but not too scary. 7/10 Slaughterhouse, Wolf Pack, Cornstalkers, + Mysteria on the above post! Went last night, four more reviews! Mysteria - I have no clue what the heck this is. It was boring, disturbing, and absolutley not scary. I also have no clue what Kings Island was thinking when they came up with this. It has got to be one of the freakiest (as in weird) and most disturbing things I have ever experienced, no joke. 1/10 Slaughterhouse - Wow, just wow. So much better than last year. This is the first maze I have been genuinely scared. Chainsaws, meat cleavers, gore, strobe lights, and a whole bunch of scares puts this maze at #1 on my list. I couldn't even do it twice it was so scary! 10/10 Cornstalkers - Reminded me a lot of Tombstone Terror-Tory. Repetitive, VERY repetitive. The first couple scares were good (scarecrows camouflaging into the walls), but as you went through it it got more predictable. Also, the location still doesn't work out because you can hear the crowds of people outside it. It ruins the feeling of it. 4/10. Wolf Pack - Another disappointment of the night. As soon as I walked in I thought, "Wow, this looks cool." but the scares just weren't delivered right. The theme was great, and there are a LOT of places a wolf could hide. Instead, they were in the middle just walking around, getting in your face, and growling at you. Kind of like Mysteria....4/10 All I have left to review is Cut Throat Cove, but it always has way too long of a line. Hopefully I'll do it before close! I will post an actual trip report from last night in a few minutes.

Urgent Scare did have the elevator effect when I went last night. In fact, there were strobe lights, several scareactors, and it felt like the room was moving. Maybe they didn't do it for you. Edit: Oh and I also agree with you about the name of Nightmare Alley. It's themed to a carnival, right? Nightmare Alley sounds nothing like that! They should change the area to CarnEVIL, and change the name of the maze.
