  1. Oh, wow! Good find @Oldschool75! However, it appears Timberwolf is still on the park map (the online version, that is).
  2. I voted for Mystic Timbers, with Firehawk as a close second (yes, I liked Firehawk that much! ). Do note that I have not ridden Orion yet, so my answer might change after next Sunday. Mystic has a great ride experience and a great theme (the shed contributes to this theme). Firehawk is second in my book as it was just so cool and unique. Also, it was a relic from the early 2000's and one of the only coasters of its type ever made. EDIT: Also, Banshee would probably be third, and this makes Diamondback last. Not a big fan of Diamondback, but reading the above reasons why some voted for it, I understand the ride's significance (IIRC, it was KI's first B&M).
  3. I am loving seeing all these updates in this thread and the "Current Wait times" thread. While driving by today, the parking lot looked packed (which is a VERY good sign) and I could see Drop Zone, The Bat and WindSeeker running. This is getting me really excited for next Sunday! I am just so ready to come back to the park after being gone for a year due to the pandemic.
  4. Here's an article about Cedar Fair investing in the parks this year: https://blooloop.com/theme-park/news/cedar-fair-theme-park-investments/?source=newsletter
  5. I'm confused @BoddaH1994; what do you mean by backfilling? Is that when some shows are pre-shows to the actual show (like how The Mistletones "opened" for the Charlie Brown Christmas Spectacular when it was moved indoors during the 2017 Winterfest)?
  6. I'm excited about the Area 72 dance party; looks like we're going to have our own version of Luminosity!!! Also, I'm curious what stage "Busker Jam" will be performing at in Rivertown? The only stage I can think of is the LaRosas's stage. And, Brew Beats pretty sounds cool! Finally, I wonder if Stick(y) Paint will be replacing the Petting Farm? Definitely will be checking most of these shows out at some point during the season
  7. Just to update this thread, perhaps we can add this one to the list: Also, just out of curiosity, has there been a "big" announcement of all the rides that will be removed from the SIX parks, or are they all piecemeal announcements concerning which ride(s) are being removed at each individual park?
  8. I am so excited by this news; I will finally be able to go to the park this season (wasn't able to go last season)! Very much looking forward to riding my favorites in Action Zone as well as taking my first rides on Orion! See ya'll on Opening Weekend (not sure if I'll be going Saturday or Sunday)!
  9. Did not know this! While a 200-ft floorless* would have been pretty cool, Maverick is great ride. *Info from here: https://www.coaster101.com/2019/06/27/7-things-i-learned-about-cedar-point-from-john-hildebtandts-book/
  10. Just found an update via Twitter: That paint job looks nice; reminds me of Stealth (now Nighthawk @ Carowinds)'s paint job! Link to Stealth's paint job for comparison: https://rcdb.com/583.htm#p=506
  11. Brewhouse -> Reds HOF Grille Diamondback --> Swan Lake (+ surrounding area used to make room) Closed during the regular season* --> Action FX Theater (With moving seats, please!) *Keep it open during Haunt, though...
  12. Disaster Transport was fun! It was like riding down a hill in a grocery cart (because of the way the cars rolled along the track as they weren't connected to said track)
  13. Wow, that's rough! However, I partially agree as it's very noisy and disrupted what was once a quiet area of the park. On a related note, here's mine: Diamondback is overrated.
  14. I can attest to this, based on the numerous number of Night Rides I've gotten on coasters right before close (specifically, I'm thinking of Adventure Express and The Bat). One time, I marathoned The Bat 5 times in a row (one of the other riders with me got about 10 rides or so, IIRC); good times!
  15. Here's another thread about the Cicadas: EDIT: Interesting thread; thanks for bumping it!
  16. Yeah, IIRC, it was closer to the Kings Island (Paramount) Theater (on the way to Action Zone) at the time I saw it as a kid. Then I remember seeing it near the ride entrance, revealing the logo. I think if I was an adult back then, I'd think the box idea would be really cool. I have a question, though: Was said box around before Son of Beast was announced, or after it had been announced to create more hype?
  17. That box (I remember it being closer to Action Zone) used to scare me as a kid. I remember thinking that I didn't want to be in the park on that day that box opened up (and subsequently, when whatever was in said box got loose). Also, as for the ride itself, it was one of my favorites when I first rode it (it was my first looping coaster and a very epic ride), but yeah, that Rose Bowl was painful a lot of the time. One time when riding as a teen, I got off and complained that my sternum hurt... And yes, I agree @silver2005; the 90's/early 2000's coaster lineup seemed pretty epic. Most of those things you mentioned still exist today. but they are either at a different park or in a different form (Rougarou)
  18. I looked that up and it looks pretty cool and unique... even if it essentially is a family coaster. Link: https://rcdb.com/17617.htm
  19. Happy Pokemon Day! Today is Pokemon's 25th anniversary! :D

  20. I think I barely remember that old Lazer Tag building in Coney Mall back in the day (or at least the idea that there was lazer tag back in the day; in any case, thanks for posting that pic). Also, never realized that the location of the (inflatable) Kings Island theater is where Tower Gardens is today; I guess I always assumed Tower Gardens was always there (as in, it opened with the park).
  21. The rainforest (trees) that surround the ride says hello... I know what you mean (a themed queue like Top Gun used to have), but the natural scenery (and my imagination) makes the ride themed enough for me! On the other hand, yeah, Diamondback is kinda just out there in a cleared field... more theming would be nice (maybe a themed queue). I do like @IndyGuy4KI's idea of lights giving the appearance of snake skin on the track - this effect could be used every time a train pulls out of the station (on that pre-lift straight track directly following the station) as the train could be "shedding its skin", enabling it to move forward, ready to climb the lift.
  22. It would be cool if Adventure Express got some love in the way of restoring all the effects. I know that over the years, more parts have been working (arrows in the second tunnel, "creaking" sound effects on the lift, etc.), but it would be cool to have all the old effects working.
