When did the Troika change to Shake, Rattle & Roll, and what happened to that fantastic color scheme and lighting package?

Advice on a trip to Kings Dominion
TheCrypt replied to Snowman's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I second Terp. Busch Gardens Williamsburg is a fantastic park with a great collection of rides, not to mention the fantastic landscaping, theming...pretty much what The Interpreter said. Snowman, take lots of pictures and tell us about your experiences! -
Advice on a trip to Kings Dominion
TheCrypt replied to Snowman's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
No trip to Kings Dominion is complete without a ride on Dominator, Volcano, I305, Blue Ridge Tollway, Flying Eagles, Triple Spin, Shockwave, and The Crypt. The Crypt has the best theming of any Top Spin named The Crypt IMO. Oh and Berserker is more painful than it is fun. You should definitely skip it. -
^The log flume upgrade at Knott's has me wondering if we will see something similar happen at one of the other seasonal parks. Boocifer's castle in Mason, OH needs a massive overhaul.
-
It probably was. When I went through it last season, there were all these random sprayers and water curtains in roped off areas. I wish it wasn't roped off; a maze would be fun!

I have been loosely following this Kentucky Kingdom discussion, so please bear with me. Ed Hart wants to run the place, so why won't the fairboard let him? The park is located on fairboard grounds, and I understand they don't want to take a risk, but they could be missing out on potential revenue for the state. Right now, the park is collecting dust and, I would imagine, is costing the state money. If the man has the ambition and presents a believable plan, why not supply Hart with the money, even if only a fraction? It all seems to tie into this quote, to me anyways. "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." -Wayne Gretzky

I really hope WindSeeker will operate more next season. Even if I don't go on it on a certain trip, it is a spectacle to see in the surrounding area. It adds something to the atmosphere of the park, but I can't place my finger on it. Easy: Adventure Express Hard: Ticket booths outside front gate Expert: Linus' Launcher

Do you know if Tower and FoF are still connected like that?

I hope I won't yell at my kin!

They also need to check how to spell Leviathan.

The rugged sign is to define that area of the park as the old rides. Classics that have made it though the worst. They are the rides that remain as many other rides have changed/ been removed though out the years. The Yin and Yang is for the fact that if their was no blue racer running it would be unbalanced. They need each other to make it a race. One could also argue that more people will ride it if the two are racing. A classic amusement park (which Coney Mall was meant to resemble) doesn't strike me as rugged and old.
-
I should have been clearer in my question; I meant what Terp is saying.
-
The trash can would stop more people from entering the queue than would a sign. And may I ask, how does a rugged Yin and Yang symbol fit The Racer? I just wish rides located at dead ends in the park *cough* Invertigo *cough* would have associates standing farther down the pathway to tell people the ride's closed. I don't like walking to a dead end to find the ride is closed.

Perhaps the attraction was no longer profitable for the park.

I agree. The music volume needs to be increased inside the bowl. You can really only clearly hear it at the MCBR and brake run. That music deserves to be heard. As far as the video goes, I don't really think it's that our of date. The only part of it I can see needing a change is the clothing everyone wears. As far as on ride experiences, it varies in each seat I sit in. When I'm in the front, I get to see the track and get more of a "view" (although there's not much to see besides glimpses of track). The hang time is pretty good in the corkscrew. When I'm in the back, I get inundated with crazy positives in the inversions. EDIT: I had breaks in the writing, but the site's formatting must have screwed up. EDIT2: Nevermind

I stand corrected. And this lets me ask a question I've always wondered; how do people get to that net? It doesn't look easily accessible.

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been forced to buy a pair of shoes. I'm pretty sure I've seen people walking around the main park without shoes, so I don't believe there is a managerial mandate requiring shoes. I could be wrong though. Luckily for me, I didn't have to buy any shoes. My sister's friend had a flip flop identical in all ways but size to my left shoe. I wore hers until mine could get retrieved at the end of the day.
-
I've...uh..done that...Funny story, really. I was sitting outside the station, waiting to unload. My older sister was sitting in front of me. She reached back and punched me, so I tried to kick her, and my flip flop flew off.

Could you post the conversation? iPod user, here.

I see no problem with your picture. It does show a bit of the rock, and the plants covering it. Seems valid to me.

I've seen a stuffed animal and an object that looked like a knife.

Being frequenters of Kings Island, we are all familiar with the nets placed under track, to catch falling loose articles. But have you ever looked up into the nets, to find there is a strange object or two, far from the usual baseball cap and nickels? It doesn't even have to be at Kings Island, but any amusement park across the globe. So, what have you found?

This is kind of a creepy question... I used to hang around The Crypt a lot. But now it's not the staple for me in Rivertown (for obvious reasons), so I rarely spend time in Rivertown, often times only to ride The Beast. I recently re-discovered the beauty of Adventure Express and the Coney Mall flats this past season, and you are most likely to see me in the general vicinity of those rides.
