  1. Great. My wife and I were talking about this last night since this will be our first year we'll be able to go. I figured it would be the night before, but hadn't been previously so I wasn't sure. Thanks!
  2. Has anyone heard any info about the Gold Pass Preview Night for people who renewed their Gold pass in time? Do any of you have any guesses on when that might be held?
  3. Oh lord, I just realized what was going on. "Monroe," I get it now. Ignore my previous post lol
  4. I never said any one of us had control over what happened to that property. All I asked was what anyone would like to see. This wasn't anything official, I was curious about everyone's opinion.
  5. Hey guys, So I've been posting comments on here today, but for whatever reason, it will not let me post a comment in the "Article: Designing Phantom Theater (Theme Park University)" thread. It happened first at work, and I just thought maybe it was a problem with my computer or the connection there. However, I noticed that I could comment in other threads. I tried again later after I got home, and the same thing happened again. I typed up my post again, clicked "Post" and nothing happened. The text I typed in the comments field greyed out a bit, but nothing happened. I refreshed and tried again, but still nothing. It's weird, because I'm able to start new threads and even post in others, but for some reason, it will not let me make a comment on that thread. Any thoughts? Is anyone else having this problem, or is it just me?
  6. What do you guys think would be a good use of the property? http://www.journal-news.com/news/news/local/monroe-making-plans-for-former-americana-amusement/nqRKw/
  7. I'd like to see that ride expanded into the entire building again with a super immersive dark ride. And even though it won't happen, I'd like to see the return of the boat system again.
  8. Wow. I was not expecting the article to be so in-depth! What a great read, and very informative! I think I might have even learned a thing or two. It was nice to see that you included some background info on the park itself. That was a nice surprise. Great job!
  9. I placed my order before this and have not received anything stating that the candles won't ship as ordered. The scents aren't proprietary, so if the name is changed, I'd imagine the candles can stay the same. I must have missed my chance because all the candles had new names, and when I checked the description, completely different scents. I'll keep my eye on this page and hopefully they'll make a return.
  10. So, after reading the article and checking out the "Disney" scented candles, I showed them to my wife and we discussed a few that we'd like to try. Going back to the Etsy page tonight, we noticed that all the Disney candles have been removed and replaced with pictures of new candles, with new names and scents. Hmm...I'm wondering if she's removed them permanently or what? It's interesting that just yesterday the article was written stating that the Disney scents were back up for pre-order, then less than a day later, they've all been removed. Thoughts?
  11. Just took a look at those candles and they sure do sound interesting. I'd be curious to try the Haunted Mansion and Black Pearl candles.
  12. I know it would never happen, but I'd love to have a log flume/dark ride similar to Splash Mountain. Obviously it would have a different look and theme, but a log ride that takes you in and out of various scenes and then sends you down a large drop at the end would be fantastic! I guess we can dream though, can't we?
  13. I thought I'd jump in here and give my two cents. Just for the record, I'm the type of person who can get motion sick on certain types of rides. You will never see me on any type of "spinning" ride. For whatever reason, my brain just can't handle it and I get dizzy and sick to my stomach. That being said, I'm able to ride Banshee just fine. Not sure if you're the type that has a tendency to get motion sick on rides, but if so, if I can do Banshee, you should be fine. One thing that works for me, and it was mentioned in an above post, is not to get fixated on one point. Don't watch the track above you and don't stare straight ahead in any direction for long periods of time. Shift your eyes around and focus on different points. This helps to minimize the blurring and spinning of everything flying past you. For me, this helps to reduce the disoriented feeling so I don't end up getting too dizzy. I use this same trick on Surf Dog and it works well.
  14. I remember when the Peanuts Store used to be a Scooby Doo Store. Can't exactly remember the Nickelodeon Store.
  15. Seems like whenever I call for any type of customer support, technical or otherwise, there is always a foreigner on the other end trying to convince me that if I just turn it off then back on again, my problem will go away. That's not always the case, but they'll argue with you about it regardless. One time long ago, I had Sprint. I had the same phone for 2 years and by the end of my two year contract, my phone was literally falling apart, The plastic shell of my phone was cracked and falling apart. I did have insurance though, so I called customer support to ask for assistance. The guy (more than likely an outsourced foreigner) kept telling me that if I would just turn my phone off then back on again, that my phone would be fixed. I was unaware that rebooting a cell phone could also mend broken pieces of plastic. I'm not sure how long I argued with him and tried to explain to him that that could never and would never fix my problem. He just kept at it though, "Just turn it off, then back on again..." I finally hung up. Companies think they're getting off cheap by outsourcing, however, it just ticks customers off when they have to put up with crap like this.
  16. Wow, what an interesting read! Brought back memories of visiting KI as a child. I also enjoyed the little blurbs about Fantasy Farm and LeSourdesville/Americana. Thanks for posting!
  17. I've never had the opportunity to eat at the Chick-fil-a at KI, but that's mainly because my wife and I usually just ride out the park for a few hours when we visit and end up eating somewhere outside of the park. That being said, we do really like Chick-fil-a. We don't eat there too often, but we'll usually pop in once every couple of weeks or so. There are two locations that we visit, one is at Bridgewater Falls in Fairfield, and the other one is out on Kemper across from Tri-County Mall. Those two locations have excellent service. Every employee is very helpful and ask "How can I serve you" and respond with "My pleasure." They'll even come around while you're eating and offer to refill your drink or take your trash for you. I've been to very few restaurants that have such polite service. Even though I could get food slightly cheaper at another fast food chain, it is worth the extra few bucks to get treated with respect and kindness. Having said that, I wish I would've eaten at the location in the park just so I could've compared the types of service received at each of the locations.

Probably best to collect the money upfront. When my wife and I went to Disney back in 2014, we had multiple on-ride pics taken during our visit to the parks. A couple weeks after I got home I got an e-mail telling me we could review our pics (up until that point I was unaware that they were collecting our photos). Although the preview pics were of low quality, I actually found the original, high quality pics hiding in the cache. I was able to retrieve all the pics (and videos for that matter) and view them in high quality and save them and even print them if I would've wanted to. Now, granted, most people probably wouldn't know how to do this, but if many people were to figure it out, it could result in a loss of print sales. It's probably wise for KI to collect a flat fee upfront and then grant you access to all your high quality photos instantly.
  19. I always sort of liked Action Theater. It wasn't one of my favorite attractions by any means, but it was fun to check out when lines weren't too long. I remember Action Theater from the very beginning when it opened up as Days of Thunder. I was there that opening season with my dad to check it out. It was ok, but I felt like the later 3D shows they ran in there were more immersive. I really enjoyed the 7th Portal and Sponge Bob. Those two were probably my favorite of the shows they ran in the theater. I'm a little disappointed that it was removed and is now sitting unused for more than 2/3 of the season. One pet peeve of mine is how KI shuts down attractions and then hijacks those structures for Haunt attractions. It just leaves for a lot of wasted space during the main part of the operating season and looks bad for visiting guests who might not know about Haunt. I've never been thrilled with the placement of WindSeeker and felt that it sort of blocks an entrance to the Action Theater (or at least makes it feel tight). If they were to open it back up, or at least put something new in it's place, I feel like that area could get real crowded real fast. You'd have Vortex's exit, WindSeeker, and then the entrance to the new attraction all stuffed back in that space. One good thing that Action Theater has going for it though is that extra long queue line. Hopefully that would be enough to contain everyone that would want to ride/experience the new attraction and we wouldn't have guests spilling out of the entrance into the WindSeeker area. That would just be a mess. Who's to know what might happen with that building. I'd really like some kind of dark ride back there, if there was the space for it. Anything would be better than letting that building sit empty and only using it for Haunt. I'm sure they could some up with something that could make great use of that space and revive that space again.
  20. I haven't gotten an e-mail notification in weeks. I even tried changing my e-mail hoping it would sort of "reset" everything. Unfortunately, that didn't work as I'd hoped. Still no e-mail notifications for me.
  21. Gosh, I spent WAY too many summer days at this park! When I was really young, we used to visit Fantasy Farm next door to this park. Once we got older though, we graduated to Americana. We used to joke around saying that basically Americana was the poor man's Kings Island and that Fantasy Farm was the poor man's Americana lol. Although I basically visited all three parks growing up. Each park was unique to itself and offered things that you couldn't get from the others. Fantasy Farm had caves that you could explore, it's own version of Disney's Flying Dumbo ride, and a horribly designed, low-budget haunted house. Americana's rides were somewhat bigger, and they too offered a variety of unique attractions. I remember this park well! They had some pretty fun rides and interesting attractions. I remember they had a ripoff version of Disney's Country Bear Jamboree in the building that was close to the train station. Even though it was pretty ghetto, I found the show rather interesting. It was, though, about on the same level as the show from "Lester's Possum Park" in A Goofy Movie lol. I remember they used to have some kind of circus show/magic act in the big tent-like theater. I remember riding the sky ride and thinking how unsafe the thing felt and clinging on for dear life when I reached the other side and went around the big wheel to send my chair back around to the loading station. I was always afraid of coming unhinged and falling into the lake with the giant catfish. This place was fun enough, but really couldn't compare to the type of stuff they had at Kings Island. I do, however, consider myself lucky that I got to grow up and experience these types of parks, even Fantasy Farm next door. There was something that was sort of unique about them and they gave you a different type of experience that you couldn't get from the bigger parks.
  22. I grew up in a single parent home. My mom babysat and taught preschool so that she could be home with us after school and not have to send us to daycare. We never had much money to do anything, but other things were more important to us. I knew that my mom would never have enough money to take my sister and me to Disney World and I just kind of accepted that. My dad, on the other hand, could afford to take us and he promised he would when we got old enough to appreciate it. I'm actually still waiting for that trip to happen lol. I was 17 before I ever made it to a Disney Park and I paid for it myself. It was the fall after I graduated and me and two friends from church decided to fly down there for a week. My one friend had grandparents who lived about 45 minutes from Orlando, so we stayed with them and drove into the parks everyday. We packed our lunches and spent money only on what was needed. It would be another 3 years before I'd actually visit Disney World again and visit it for the first time with my mom. I was 20 years old the first time we had a Disney vacation as a family. However, you're never too old to visit Disney, so we highly enjoyed ourselves! People need to stop buying into the myths our society feeds us. No one is entitled to anything. You do what you can, and sometimes you just have to do without. I knew my mom couldn't afford to take us to Disney when we were younger, so when I was old enough and was working for my own money, I took myself. I never had any bad feelings towards anyone or anything. I just accepted how things were when I was growing up. If more people got out of the "I'm entitled to what everyone else has" mindset, there would be a lot less complaining and a lot less issues.
  23. I remember way back when I was about 10 years old and I took a ride for the first time on Adventure Express. At the time I was still deathly terrified of roller coasters, so I wouldn't ride any of the "big" ones. Because this one was smaller and had no significant drops, I decided to try it out. I absolutely loved it! I remember wanting to ride it over and over again. I went back later that season with a friend from school. There was no one in line that day because it had been raining off and on, so we marathoned it for quite some time. I think the reason I liked it most was because it was part roller coaster and part dark ride. I loved the coaster element, but I also loved all the themed elements as well (I'm talking about when the theming was new and actually worked). I thought it was awesome that the train took you through different tunnels and in each tunnel was something to see. My favorite though, was the very last tunnel with all the natives banging their fists up and down. As a ten year old boy, I just found this to be so cool! I loved the ride so much that I even bought me an Adventure Express hat in the park. I used to wear it often as a way to advertise my favorite ride. Even though I've liked new rides since then, I don't ever remember liking one this much. Adventure Express also helped me to transition to the bigger coasters, so I think that's another reason I like it so much.
  24. I've been working full time since I was 16 (now 35), plus I fit college in there too. I've never missed a season visiting the park. It's quite easy to make it to the park being a full time employee. During the summer, they're open til 10. When I worked til 6, I would head out to the park and get there around 7. That's 3 full hours during a summer week night. That's more than enough time to do anything you want. I'd also make it out on the weekends when I wasn't working. Even though weekend crowds are worse, sometimes that's your only option to visit the park. Check out the park's operating schedule and compare it to your work schedule. Shouldn't be hard at all to plan some visits to the park. Goodluck!
  25. A new blog article was published a couple days ago giving some info and showing pics of the ark being constructed. This thing is actually taking shape. https://arkencounter.com/blog/2016/01/04/ramping-top-noahs-ark/
