Amusement Insiders just posted an analysis video of the layout and the concept shared on this site. He thinks we have a winner, as do I

Proof? I don't think anything new will be coming to that building for at least 3-4 years
-
Like what @Shaggy said there's no sign of electrical or plumbing which would suggest that it has nothing to do with the ride itself. Usually these two things are some of the first to consider when building any type of attraction, also remember that they can't congest that area too much as the transfer for Flight of Fear is right next to the area.

A lot of people are forgetting Kings Dominion got a giga in 2010 before the rest of the high tier Cedar Fair parks got theirs. Its not necessarily about who's better.
-
Also SOB and TRTR we're both extremely complex rides. When it comes to maintenance Diamondback, Banshee, and MT are fairly easy by comparison.
-
They could afford other types of coasters though. Holiday world spent $22 million on Thunderbird where as CP payed $21 million for Maverick so I think the money's there for Holiday World's sake. I don't know if HW got the ROI they wanted or not but they got something to differentiate themselves from KI. HW might get another big coaster like a Dive or something that KI doesn't have which would certainly keep them competitive.

Why is everyone sold on blue for the color? I'm still in the green party.

With the 2020 project on everyone's mind, I thought it would be a nice change of pace to something different. Knott's Berry Farm has been updating and changing the theming and animation of their rides over the past couple of years and Cedar Point has it's fare share of theming and animation throughout the park. Kings Island was big on animation and theming at the beginning of the 70s as animation wasn't as big in the Midwest as it was out in other parts of the country. With that being said do you think we've gotten better at theming or worse?
-
Regarding the land construction north of Racer, remember the doors to FOF's transfer track are also in close proximity so they wouldn't want to completely block that area off with expansion or a coaster.
-
What do you think KI would get in 2020?
SonofBaconator replied to KI Master's topic in Coming Attractions
Hydra: The Revenge is an awesome looking coaster that is, in my opinion, extremely underrated. I wish we had more coasters like it across the country. -
So if we get a 299ft coaster, will this thread still exhist?
-
@fryoj you seem pretty knowledgeable about how blueprints work. Can you confirm, based off the leaked prints, whether 300ft will be peaked or not? You might have said it earlier but its a long thread.

In the 90s, Inverts were the craze as nearly 20 were produced from 1992 to 1999. Now we're getting close to the 2020s and newer models have surfaced, one of which being the Dive Machine/Coaster. Dive Machines have been popping up around the world and have taken the GP by storm. With their popularity I think its safe to argue that Dive coasters are becoming the new invert. Sooner or later I think we'll see different variations of the B&M Dive Machine such as 100ft multi-looping models similar to Gerstlauer and possibly even a giga dive, (if a park is willing to shell out the money.) What are your thoughts?

Which Giga name will be coming to Kings Island

All of a sudden everyone on this forum became astrologists

I always feel bad when they announce these huge rides for Magic Mountain and Great Adventure then St. Louis just gets a new water slide. Also, I wish they would drop the "Six Flags" name to give each park more individuality. Magic Mountain, Great Adventure, Great America, Discovery Kingdom, and Fiesta Texas would be easy changes. Georgia, St. Louis, and others would be a little harder.

I feel like man made lakes are a pumber's nightmare.

Skyrush, in my opinion, is an I305 style- "twister" layout. The hyper being installed will have a plethora of airtime and tall hills. Also this ride will be a "front gate" coaster that's the first thing guests will see when it walks in. Like Diamondback our new 2020 coaster will be in the back of the park.
-
Every new coaster, whether at a regional or destination park, should have a "wow" factor that will attract people to that park; something that's worth the price of admission. In this case I don't think people would travel to KI just to ride another Diamondback which keeps me positive.
-
For a second could we talk about the pros/cons of this ride being just at or under 300ft? I guess if it is short I want to know the benefits that were foreseen. This is all speculation.
-
My classification is the initial hill has to crest 200ft to be a hyper, 300ft to be a giga. Goliath as SFOG is 200ft but has a drop of 175 and I still consider it a hyper. Yes Apollo's Chariot is a hyper in my book but only because the initial drop exceeds 200ft- but that's still a stretch for me.

Its just odd to me that we are debating whether or not this coaster will even peak 300ft. Going over 300ft seems elementary for Cedar Fair nowadays.

Kennywood adds Steelers coaster!
SonofBaconator replied to Creed Bratton's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
If its anything like the Steelers' offense last year, they're in for a doozy -
You mean..... a diversion?
