I agree. What I said was more or less in response to people on Reddit talking about how they’ve “black listed” Intamin and RMC. I used “” because I don’t think they’ve ever officially said “we’re not going to work with these companies down the road.” I don’t think they’ll ever cut ties with a company for good because leadership can change on either end. I do wonder if B&M installations will be different moving forward, especially with the dive that Dorney is supposed to get.

I don’t think Cedar Fair will black list B&M- or at least it would be foolish if they did.

I have an idea: If Planet Snoopy becomes Camp Snoopy, relocate Great Pumpkin Coaster closer toward where the barnyard is-they could repaint and rename it to fit the Camp Snoopy theme. Relocating Great Pumpkin Coaster would free up just over 17,400 square feet of space next to the current dark ride building. Not entirely sure what they could do with that freed up space but they could tie that space into the dark ride or do something else. Just a thought.

@Kenban I was initially skeptical about a Camp Snoopy because I wasn’t sure a retheme would bring people in. With the loose rumor of a new coaster coming and the potential for new dining options, I’m more optimistic of an overhaul.

I heard a loose rumor from an Amusement Insiders video that Snoopy’s Racing Railway at Canada’s Wonderland was intended to be cloned for KI and Carowinds. I’m not sure how accurate that is but if it were to happen, it would make sense. KI, CWL, and CWS have all gotten clones of other kid coasters on the past.

Double post. to shift things from the maintenance aspect of it, I’m really interested in the PR side of things. I’m sure the park is not answering a ton of questions until investigations have concluded, but I wonder how big of a blow this will be to the park’s overall image. If the ride gets repaired and it’s clear to open, I’m sure people will be in line to ride it but for other people it’ll take time. That video will always be available for people to see.

I’m wondering if their constant additions to SWO tells of what’s to come for BGT. Between SWO and BGT, BGT seems to be the more “extreme park” in my opinion. Could SWO’s additions be meant to offset something big that could be coming to BGT like a giga?

I understand where you’re coming from, but if the crack in question was noticed by park goers a week ago, if I’m reading posts correctly, then the park either didn’t notice it or cleared it to operate with a crack. Either way it doesn’t seem like a good look on the park’s end regardless of anything else.

I was just about to say that. If they want overall exposure of the Peanuts brand, they might want their characters to roam the park more.

Maybe I’m wrong but, I’d like to assume that KI staff have seen the video and pictures and conducted their own inspections of their B&Ms.

I retract my statement regarding their media team, I guess I didn’t dig deep enough.

Whether someone from the park noticed it or not, Carowinds screwed the pooch by allowing the ride to operate with a cracked support. I wonder if their media team will address this or be quiet about it.

I see a lot of people trying to point fingers at who’s at fault: Carowinds staff for not catching the issue sooner, CSF for possible faulty supports, or B&M for the design? In a two years Fury will be 10 years old, is that old enough to omit B&M from any responsibility? The same can be said for CSF. From a maintenance standpoint, it’s not like a wood coaster where you see a cracked piece of wood that can easily be replaced- Carowinds can’t slap some glue on it and deem Fury safe. It surprises me that they continued to allow it to operate considering that was apparently noticed a week ago. I’m no engineer, nor do I claim to have accurate knowledge on this stuff, but from what I see, the design might be the main issue. Most of Fury’s layout is low to the ground and has twists all while maintaining high speeds- that has to put a lot of strain on the support structure. Compare that to Leviathan and Orion which, in my opinion, are designed more like traditional hyper coasters. Both coasters don’t have as many high speed twists and seem to be higher off the ground allowing the trains to burn more speed going over hills. I’m sure B&M will be out there to look at Fury, but the biggest questions are how many other supports will have to be redone and will parts of the overall layout be altered to ensure this doesn’t happen again?

@jsus I wonder if other supports will be redone as well. Again, I’m no engineer, but if one support has undertaken that type of stress, there has to be other supports under similar stress.

I’m no engineer but it looks like that support should’ve been angled to take the force of the train by instead of being vertical.

That being said, if Cedar Point adds a coaster that doesn’t break records, that doesn’t mean that people won’t show up to ride it. I don’t think Wild Mouse breaks any records. Nevertheless every coaster technically can break a record if you’re creative with it. Diamondback is the tallest coaster in the world to feature splashdown breaks and the only hyper coaster to feature it. Invertigo is the only ride of its kind in North America. Adventure Express is the longest and tallest mine ride in Ohio. I could go on.

Eh, they don’t need to break records. Take Valravn which debuted as the tallest, longest, fastest, and most inversion filled dive coaster at the time. Now you have Yukon Striker which took some records away from Valravn. People don’t ride Valravn or Yukon Striker because they break records, they mainly ride them because of the drop and inversions. Breaking records is just a marketing ploy to generate exposure. I don’t think people rode Top Thrill Dragster any less because Kingda Ka broke its records.

I wouldn’t be so sure. If you’re going backwards from 410ish feet, you’re going to need some height to burn off that speed, unless they plan on slowing down the trains on the rollbacks or not having the initial launch reach the top hat at all and go halfway up.
