That’s what I’m trying to figure out. Would people be just as comfortable riding a surf coaster if it had a standard lift? For example let’s say that our park orders one with a chain lift- would there be a noticed difference in comfort or would it be the same?

Vortex’s replacement will bring with it a new theme to the back area of the park (the area encompassing WindSeeker, SRR, and BLSC) Phantom Theater Returns Soak City gets some major changes within the next 10 years as some slides begin to show their age More passholder specific perks Something is done with the former Wolfpack building (recycled for another haunted house, demolished, something else, idk just something) Experimental Haunt Thursdays We see another coaster leave by 2030 Planet Snoopy gets overhauled within the next 10 years.

My question is- is the launch crucial to a good experience? Not to say that some people don’t already prefer launches to lift hills but would a surf coaster with a chain lift be a bad experience?

Online tickets only good for specific day?
SonofBaconator replied to jensenracing77's topic in Kings Island
Tickets can be dynamically priced which is why they’re day-specific. If I recall correctly from previous seasons, you simply exchange the ticket. You might, however, have to pay an upcharge if you go on another day. For example if the tickets you bought were $49.99 online and you go on a day when they’re $54.99 online, they’ll have you pay that difference. If you go on a day when the prices are the same, it’s a simple even exchange. Finally if you spend $54.99 and go on a day when they’re $49.99 you still get in but you’re not getting reimbursed the difference. Once the tickets are scanned though, they’re irredeemable. -
Possible coasters that could be gone in 5-10 years for parks
SonofBaconator replied to dropdasher's topic in Rumors
For me personally, it’s the restraints. Much like riding Vortex, the OTSRs on Invertigo can be overbearing with the head banging (at least from what I experience when riding.) If it somehow had vest restraints I would ride it more. -

I shared this on another thread but I think Invertigo and Congo Falls will be replaced after Vortex. -
I was surprised that B&M agreed to debut new trains WITH a launch. The company has always been known to play it safe and considering they’ve only done two launches prior to their Surf coaster, its certainly interesting that they would debut new trains on something that wasn’t a chain lift styled ride. Maybe they agreed to make it launched because the trains were standup and having a standard chain lift would mean riders would be standing for longer on the lift hill.

The 2010s was a huge decade for Cedar Fair and with that came risks that were taken to push the envelope as they became a much larger chain following the Paramount Parks buy. Within 10 years we saw Dinosaur Parks, interactive dark rides, first generation coasters, next generation coasters, new thematic elements, and so on… Fast forward to the 2020s where we’re still only 3 years in, yet it seems like the chain has taken a seat and shifted their focus to other priorities such as food, theming, and overall experiences with VIP suites and so on. Again, we’re only 3 years in and had a pandemic to contend with. That being said, do you see Cedar Fair experimenting like they did in the 2010s or will it be toned down? Do you think the 2010s was a standalone decade considering all the large corporate changes they made?

RMC knows how to mess with fan people, I wouldn’t read into it.

I still think this would be a cool addition: a mini dive that focuses on inversions which we’ve been missing since Vortex and Firehawk’s removal

Someone will buy it

I’ve seen quite a few people take a spill on that attraction and always wondered why they kept it running. If you’re a pro at that kind of stuff that’s one thing, but seeing people while out on it always got me nervous.

Maybe so, I’m just looking at this from a maintenance and staffing standpoint. You could also have a 3 for 2 where you replace CF and Invertigo then replace The Bat:
-
IMO, get rid of The Bat and let trees grow back there. Get rid of Congo Falls and Invertigo and replace is with a modern coaster:

I never really got the point of “shooting” rides. Sure the overall goal is to earn points but I personally I like to ride rides to well…. RIDE. If I wanted to look at a screen and shoot at things I’d be at home. I understand wanting to appeal to the “gaming” audience with all these high tech rides but the novelty wears off quick. As you said, most popular dark rides are just that: dark rides.

I always felt like the Dinosaurs Alive concept wasn’t bad, but as a chain wide attraction, it could’ve been done a lot better. I understand there was a contract with the animatronic company but if they were to have done it differently, I think they should’ve done the following: Create a test park. I think they should’ve picked one park to be the guinea pig and learned from that. They could’ve learned how to enhance the product before adding one to another park. Not have it inside the park if they wanted to charge. This could or could not have worked depending on what park we’re talking about. In a perfect world, I would’ve preferred the DA attractions to be their own property so people could go enjoy it as it’s own thing instead of having to pay an up charge on an existing park ticket. Of course Gold Pass members could get in to both properties. Like I said “in a perfect world.” Have it be more than just a walkthrough attraction. At this point I’m treating it like its own park. I don’t necessarily think that they could’ve added large coasters or anything like that, but a small kiddie coaster and some small flat rides could’ve complimented the experience, along with a restaurant and maybe a zip line course. Paint the Dinosaurs. I understand accuracy is crucial for education but all the Dinos in DA were brown or grey which, if you have young ones, can make the experience visually unappealing. Im not saying paint them wacky colors, but maybe freshen them up a tad.

So do you think Sally took advantage of the recent film? -

The casting was great, the film wasn’t. Matthew Lillard IS Shaggy. -
I think we’re going to see some downsizing in Action Zone in the future. Regarding Congo Falls and Invertigo, I don’t think there will be enough ridership in the coming years to justify operating, maintaining, and staffing the two rides. Could they replace them with a new ride? Sure, in fact they could consolidate the staffing from the two current rides into one new attraction. The green area in the edit above obviously represents Congo Falls and Invertigo. They can put a new ride in the green space I provided but make the entry plaza right at the edge of the green space. This would also make the attractions in the area seem closer together. Even though Invertigo isn’t far from other Action Zone attractions, it sure feels off the beaten path, and not in a fun way like The Bat is. It’s hard to explain.
