How much of the building is used for Cavern or Terror? I remember 1st inaguaral season they had a dinning event as well.

I'm confused. Is it going to be a cream color or is that the primer?

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex
SonofBaconator replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
**Double Post** So you couldn't see WT going to CGA? -
I'm not denying their success with other parks but if I worked for Cedar Fair, I'd be more concerned with how they work with my chain. There's a huge reason why the chain hasn't worked with Intamin in over a decade. Like I said, I'm all for their return but they gotta show Cedar Fair they can work within their safety/ reliability standards and produce a product that reflects that.
-
I would go at the blitz coaster similar to Maverick which is a top 10 coaster for me. Personally, I'm all for Intamin's return but I'm still skeptical on their reliability. I'm going to have to see how Pantheon turns out before I make a final judgement call. I know their issues with Intimidator 305, Shoot the Rapids, and others have not made them a friend of Cedar Fair. Hopefully they can rebuild their reputation like Vekoma is doing and focus more on reliability rather than taking risks. Until I see a change I think Cedar Fair will continue to buy from Mack Rides.

I mean I feel like they went too big with Steel Vengeance and now they're more or less paying the price for it. Smaller ones are fine, (Twisted Timbers, Joker, Twisted Cyclone, etc) Once you start trying to break a bunch of records with a company you don't have any past experience with things might get hairy. Besides, CF might be more interested in their single rails vs their wooden products at the moment.

I wish B&M would take a crack at a 4d coaster, or at least try and design a prototype
-
Not to make this a two person thread but I agree. I'd rather have us invest in what we have ad opposed to getting new things. Kings Island is one of those parks that doesn't need to be built up like Carowinds or Canada's Wonderland. I think that once Vortex gets properly replaced, we won't really need a new coaster. Honestly I'd like them to look back at theming. You mentioned investing in Racer and Adventure Express but I'd also add Diamondback to that list as well. I think adding more theming to the ride will help. And for God's sake someone please bring some theming back to the train
-
You think Cedar Fair will ever invest in regular season single rider lines?
-
I'm going to say this- I think we need to switch our narrative from coaster speculation to just general year to year additions and changes. The investor relations that @139Signal27 was referring to has made me think more about other things besides just coasters. From now on I'm personally not going to look at just what coasters we could get as opposed to other things. I think we'll soon start to see a hiatus of coasters and will see more smaller additions like flats, updated areas, new experiences, etc
-
I agree with you 100% @139Signal27, I just don't know if we'll see that in 3-5 years. Maybe 5 years at least. Like what you said, CF is focusing on other things vs just big coasters so they're gonna diversify their attractions. When we do get coasters I think they'll focus less on stats and more on theming: IE Mystic Timbers and Orion. It turns out the GP loves theming as much as enthusiasts do nowadays (makes me more convinced that they'll do some updates to BBoBH) You might see them take more of a theme park approach vs the amusement park approach they're been comfertable with for so many years.

I'm not saying its impossible but it seems highly unlikely. I've talked to some CF execs who said they see KI as more of a regional park as opposed to a destination park. Still, maybe the market research they've conducted tells a different tale. Perhaps the presence of an on-site hotel would increase guest spending and draw in more people from Kentucky and Indiana who would turn their one day trip into two or maybe three days. A hotel wouldn't necessarily decrease the number of visitors you get a year. You could even have it open year round when the park isn't open to keep making money during the offseason
-
I'd have to disagree with him on a few things: I was happy Orion was placed where it was. CF already had two front gate gigas so I'm happy we broke away from that trend. I don't think there needs to be a coaster over the Oktoberfest lake and Tower Gardens. Those areas are too pretty to be ruined by a coaster.

Kings Island and Cedar Point opening Mid-May

Not trying to sound rude but are any of you actual doctors or nurses? I'm wondering where some of you are getting your facts from when it comes to this virus -

Amtrak has done that to subsidize their operations. -

I enjoy watching him, we always brings up interesting points Anywho, I don't see them being to able to operate ALL those parks without taking a hit somewhere when this all settles down. They get a TON of money in sponsorships so if some sponsors decide to pull out to recuperate some of their money thats a big loss. -

Not changing the topic but I'm curious how this will have an affect on Six Flags specifically. Will we see history repeat itself or are they more financially stable now than back in the 2000s? -
Kings Island and Cedar Point opening Mid-May

A good friend of mine lost both of his grandparents about 2 years ago. He said he said he was kinda grateful they weren't around for this because their immune systems were basically shot while they were still alive. People with low immune systems are the main reason we're all so concerned about this virus. It drove me nuts when college kids still decided to go on spring break not acknowledging that they could infect their grandparents or someone else with a weak immune system. -

If things reopen, the number is going to spike again. Its not like the virus will magically go away after a month. Until there's a vaccine produced soon I don't see any amusement park opening for a while -
I'm curious how our park would be if we got Dominator instead of X-Flight
-
I agree with @TombRaiderFTW that it's placement is less than ideal. Sometimes I often forget the building still exists (which I'm sure the park is hoping for) Even still, its a more subtle Haunt attraction as opposed to the other giant building in Rivertown

I want to see how this looks now with Mystic Timbers

I would sacrifice both Adventure Express and Backlot for this. Just put it in Backlot's land. I'm sorry if I broke the 11th commandment

Cedar Fair- Attack of the Clones
SonofBaconator replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
@Kenban that's an interesting thought on it and you're not wrong. I love to see clones of certain rides at KI: Sierra Sidewinder (as you've mentioned), and Georgia Scorcher. When clones become an issue to me is when there's more than 3 and they're everywhere: 4d freespins, Batman(men?), Superman flyers, etc. I'd be upset if we got a Six Flags clone but I'd be fine with it if it was one of only 3 (like I mentioned above) and was given a custom theme -

@Kenban with that in mind, would you be upset if KI got a clone of ride from not around here vs a custom design?
