That's largely why B&M makes longer break runs for coasters that lack MCBRs like Banshee, Orion, Fury, etc
-
It wouldn't serve its purpose if it didn't bring the train to a complete stop
-
Ah I see! I thought you were afraid of posting a POV
-
Notice how the video is gone now I'll supply another one

I think you won this thread with your comment. If you're on this site just to seek out any potential benefits or perks, you're on here for the wrong reason.

It still amazes me how much the landscape has changed since 2008. Now we have three B&Ms, a GCI, a WindSeeker etc. Additionally three of the coasters in this picture are since gone. I love looking at these old shots because you can really see how things change over the years. https://www.KICentral.com/photos/displayimage.php?album=294&pid=7298

Even though Orion is the shortest B&M giga, its going to be one that'll maintain somewhat constant speed. The 1st half will feature taller elements but after the reverse treble clef its going to be closer to the ground. Plus those 4 near miss elements will be awesome.
-
CS is very opinionated about what he rides. When you have the longest coaster in the world, a lot of the elements are going to be drawn out more- larger hills, longer curves etc. The final helix on Fury often gets scolded because its a longer curve that really starts to kill the train's momentum.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Orion will be the second giga in the world, behind Steel Dragon 2000, to have two hills taller than 200ft.
-
CP did that with Steel Vengeance!

I think we might see some recycled Top Gun/ Flight Deck props and the return of the runway that used to lead people to Flight of Fear. With footage showing less trees and the Chaos building providing a backdrop, I think we might see more military-esque theming
-
Woodstock Express?
-
I'm sure management knows a lot of people miss the old theming. Heck a lot of people mention it on social media whenever KI posts about the train or an old picture surfaces on someone's page. I'd say build a theme around Rivertown with the mining companies as opposed to bringing back the old Cowboys and Native Americans (which might be seen as politically incorrect nowadays)

The S&S Axis model gives me hope that the swinging style won't go extinct. I think when the Arrow swingers eventually bite the dust, this coaster will be their replacement. As for a park in the CF chain to test this at, I'd say give it to a mid to lower tier park like Worlds of Fun where it can go through downtime if needed and it won't hurt the park as much. I'm not a proponent of top tier parks getting prototypes because there's often kinks to work out.

Thank you for sharing this! I miss #12's old look from the pics I found online. I'd love to see that large balloon stack return someday! Was there a specific reason why is was replaced? I was told it was to make the engine stand out more from #19.

The actual trains are on the right of the sand colored fence/wall. The lines you're referring to guide the transfer track so that the train can enter a stall. I don't recall if there's two stalls or three but I'm pretty sure there's two with the block section in the transfer building acting as the third stall

I had an idea for turning the chaos building into a walk-through attraction where it gives more back story on Orion and Area 72. Basically a rideless que with theming, audio, etc; an exhibit if you will. No scareactors or spooky alien stuff but just a genuine walk through attraction that can be converted back to a haunted house come fall. I personally loved walking through Cedar Point's little museum that they have. Call me boring but I enjoy walking through Flight of Fear's que as much as I do riding the actual coaster. Am I alone on this?

Canada's Wonderland

I'm not saying remove them now, but if they want to build a new, high capacity, coaster down the road they might have to sacrifice some rides to do so. If they decide to not sacrifice a coaster , they'd either have to build over the lake or get creative with its placement. I saw somewhere that someone had the idea to build in the back of the park over their White Water Canyon. I haven't been there so I don't know how they like to do things but it seems like all their thrill rides are closer to the middle or front of the park. I don't know if they want to keep the back solely dedicated to the kids section or not. -

I find that strange considering how much Cedar Fair wants to update that park. I agree after their top 3, their line-up really struggles where as parks like KI and CP thrive. Considering they're about 100% developed, removing coasters seems like their only option to add new ones unless they find a way around the RMC thing. Do they own that lake next to Behemoth? If so why not build over that? -

I could also see them removing more coasters like other Cedar Fair parks. They got rid of Skyrider but that was pretty obvious. I don't know much about the park and their maintenance costs, as I've never been there, but I haven't heard great things about their Flight Deck and Time Warp. If RMC can't come in I say remove those two coasters in favor of a modern flyer, invert, wing, or something else that is smooth and reliable when the time comes -
Here's a basic concept story for an Action Zone retheme I came up with Kingsville Hollow Back in the late 1800s, a group of Cincinnatians decided to move out of the busy city find their own fortune and find a simpler way of life. The took the Miami Valley Railroad up north to a small village called Rivertown. After disembarking Losantiville station, the group moved onward until stumbling upon an empty field. The lush land and abundance of trees from the nearby village showed a promising future for the for the settlers who started building their own town. In no time flat the town was complete and life began to thrive in this newborn town. There was a schoolhouse, a general store, a town hall, and a large farm. There was a huge ceremony and people came from all over southern Ohio to find prosperity. The townsfolk decided to call this young town, Kingsville Hollow after the Kings family who sold off some of their land to the town. All was fine for a few months as the villagers celebrated a simple life in this rural land, but it came as a cost. After the 1st few months in their new town, the folks of Kingsville Hollow started noticing strange occurrences. Their livestock started to show up missing as sheep and cattle almost vanished before day break. There were several reports from eye witnesses who saw a giant winged creature gliding over the farmland at night. Additionally, there were reports of wailing coming from the attic of the school house as even more witnesses reported seeing a female figure flying through the night. Some of the residents were even seen levitating up in the air, some getting close to 300ft high, before falling straight down and stopping just shy of the ground while others were reported to be spinning around uncontrollably. After only a few short month of these occurrences, the townspeople decided to abandon Kingsville Hollow in hops of finding a new place to live. Now the once bustling town of Kingsville Hollow sits vacant. The old farm was abandoned after all the livestock disappeared and the crops dried out. A lot of the villagers moved to the neighboring Rivertown where most of the townsfolk work for the local mining company. It was rumored that the residents can still see the flying creatures off in the distance followed by the sounds of screams, shrieks, and moans. Concept art will be added if I ever have the time.

Canada's Wonderland
SonofBaconator replied to CedarPointer's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Felt like making this the primary CW thread (I've searched for others) It occured to me that Canada's Wonderland only has one launched coaster in their lineup and its more of a family ride. I think they need a good Mack multi launch next since they already have a good top 3 and need some good intermediate coaster. I wanted to say RMC Wild Beast or Minebuster but apparently Canada has a law where RMC cannot "build" there. I guess any type of construction has to be done by a Canadian based company and since RMC likes to erect their own coasters it creates a conflict. So if Canada's Wonderland wanted to convert either of their wooden coasters, RMC would have to design the ride and fabricate the steel but wouldn't be able to build it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I've heard. -
Please don't touch that lake, its one of the few pieces of nature we have left in the park
