@coaster sally you're looking at just Cedar Point, the "Thrill Captial of the World", where Kinzel flooded the park with Intamins in the 2000s. Look at the other top 3 parks in the chain. What have they all gotten since the Cedar Fair acquisition? Collectively KI, CW, & CWS have gotten 8 B&Ms, 1 Mack, 1 GCI, (and a triotech coaster). Even Cedar Point has gotten 2 ground up B&Ms and converted their stand-up. All the rides mentioned are safe and reliable which is what Cedar Fair is all about. There's a reason you haven't seen a new Intamin in the chain since 2010.

Yes you are correct but I am not looking at all of this from an enthusiast's perspective. As an enthusiast I'd love for KI to get an Intamin like Maverick but I know it'll never happen financially. I've argued B&M is the safest choice just because of reliability. The general public could really care less about what manufacturer a coaster comes from. Not a lot of GP have ridden Medusa, Bizzaro, Scream, Rougarou, and other floorless models. You could argue B&M installs cookie cuter Hypers but yet Cedar Fair bought 3 of them as well as 3 of their giga models. Dive machines, which are the most cookie cutter coasters of all time, have been installed at 2 of Cedar Fair's parks and I'm sure there's more coming down the road. As I got older, I started to learn that KI and Cedar Fair try to cater more to the GP because they're the ones who make the parks the most money. I recommend watching Eltoro Ryan's video on I305 if you want to see how going more intense and catering more to the thrill seekers doesn't always reap financial rewards. Maybe we won't get a B&M, maybe we'll get a Mack, an S&S or maybe an RMC single rail, but whatever we get please understand this- when they do decide on a manufacturer it won't be with the enthusiasts in mind but rather the GP who ultimately pay for the coaster.

Another long lost proposed Kings Island Wooden coaster!

Possible another B&M stand up in the near future?

Hey I agree with you there. We need to gain some inversions back with a high capacity looper. Still I wish they'd prefect their product, especially since its their 1st type of coaster ever built. If we had a painless one the size of Vortex at Carowinds or Georgia Scorcher I'd be fine. -
With Vortex's land being the biggest elephant in the room for KI, I think the Crypt building will continue to be put on the back burner as it isn't really losing the park any money at this point and functions as a haunt attraction. Sometime this decade I expect it to be touched but I wouldn't hold my breath with Covid-19 pushing any potential projects back.

Can someone a little older answer me this- what was 2007 season like? I was still in elementary school at the time and wasn't as big on coasters as I am now. What was it like to see Paramount gone and Cedar Fair in charge? What was the atmosphere like? Were you all genuinely happy, sad, mad, etc?

I wonder how enthusiasts speculated back then. "I wonder if we'll get an SLC like Canada's Wonderland"
-
Crazy that was 17 years ago. Back then would you ever think we'd have 3 B&Ms, and a GCI?

I'm often curious of the compulsion some people have to always be right about everything, to not sit back and think to oneself "hey I don't always need to chime in and feel like what I'm saying is right." I suggest a solution to this compulsion: sit back, take a breath, and tell yourself "I don't always need to feel like I'm right. I don't have to always chime in. Maybe people don't agree with me for a reason." Its not hard to do, heck I do it myself from time to time and I feel like its made me a better person. -

Unfortunately its not illegal in the US to not wear a mask so you can't force that on people. -

Hand sanitizer and lysol kill 99.9% of germs, not 100% Like mentioned by others, there is no guarantee that things will be 100% safe. The only way the park would ever be 100% safe of disease would be to never open again ever. People can get sick at KI regardless if there's a pandemic or not. Everything comes with a risk, how big of a risk is the debate that'll decide what opens and when. -
From what I've heard, Six Flags America isn't that great of a park. All the people I know who live in the DC/ Baltimore region prefer to go to KD, or BGW. There's also some individuals who chose to trek to Great Adventure for their thrills. I wonder if gutting it and closing it would financially benefit any chain that would own it (whether that be Six Flags OR Cedar Fair). The east coast is oversaturated with parks in my opinion.

Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks

Before the shut down happened, the arena I worked at discontinued their souvenir bottles and replaced them with paper cups so people weren't handing their bottles over and cross contaminating everything behind the drink counter -
@139Signal27 you bring up a lot of interesting points including the Great Escape one. My main question would be if Cedar Fair aquired Six Flags America, how would that fare for Kings Dominion? The parks aren't that far from one another geographically so I'd be interested to see how thay would play out. I do agree New England would also be a solid choice if it ever happened.
-
Not to create another thread but I wonder how Cedar Fair would run a Six Flags park if they acquired one. (I wouldn't count Geauga Lake) They'd have to remove all the IPs from their rides and replace them with temporary ones like "Flight Deck" "The Bat" etc to start. I'd assume they'd take the same approach that they did with the Paramount parks.

Will Diamondback always be the tallest at KI?

Steel coasters can't be re-tracked the same way wooden ones can so I have no reason to believe The Beast and Racer would ever be in jeopardy. -
Dollar Days Returning to Kings Island

That's where it gets tricky. I'd say focus on the actual spaces. I'd be interested to see how many people they can allow in the parking lot to justify the park being open. -

I say limit the amount of cars in the parking lot -
That's largely why B&M makes longer break runs for coasters that lack MCBRs like Banshee, Orion, Fury, etc
-
It wouldn't serve its purpose if it didn't bring the train to a complete stop
