  1. I thought I heard a rumor that Cedar Fair bought a barrel ride a while ago along with other fair rides but i could be completely wrong. Three main things I'd change with Oktoberfest: Retire Hank's Burrito Shack and turn it into a proper German eatery Remove the latter game as well as relocate Slingshot to make room for potential flats Don't be afraid to add more German decor, music, architecture, etc
  2. While talking about combining dives with traditional looping coasters I went planet coaster and created this: Basically what I just made it 175 feet high and gave it a 170 ft drop. I gave the coaster 7 inversions and drew them out a little bit more for hangtime. The length is around 3,000ft long and has a top speed of 67 mph. I didn't give it a mcbr because I wanted to see how it was paced and it rode fine. Of course the elements would have to be tighter and the height would have to be shorter to make it a true dive-looper but that takes a better mind than mine to figure out. This ride would have a pretty big price-tag so it would have to be shorter than what I've made to keep it closer to the mid- to- high $20 millions. When you look at it its basically a larger, faster, longer, higher capacity euro-fighter by B&M. I would be fine with something like this replacing Vortex as well; I even built it with the plot of land in mind until I got carried away with the cutback after the sea-serpent element. It would knock out the need for a 90 degree drop as well as gain back some of the inversions we lost these past two years.
  3. If we got something with similar to Dominator or even Hydra with a dive, I'd be 100% on board with that
  4. Personally, 2019 was my favorite season this past decade. I-Street got a major overhaul, the Glockenspiel returned, the antique cars came back, The Beast foot prints returned as well as the original train color scheme. If we had more seasons like 2019 where we got a huge nostalgia, fix I would be beyond happy. I hope we do see Soak City get some additions as well as repainting Diamondback and Racer. Additionally I'd personally like to see some theming returned to the train ride, Boo Blasters retire and, most importantly, return Oktoberfest to its former glory.
  5. When Steel Vengeance was built, RMC utilized a lot of the original structure and built up. In fact, there's a decent amount of wood from the original Mean Streak structure that isn't necessarily essential. http://www.incrediblecoasters.com/SteelVengeancePhotos.html Look at Iron Gwazi which is pretty much a ground up coaster compared to Steel Vengeance. The support structure is minimalistic and is very similar to Six Flags Great America's Goliath. https://amp.reddit.com/r/rollercoasters/comments/ecwh6e/iron_gwazis_drop/ I think you'll start to see more and more of these new ground up hybrids and wooden coasters have less supports than people would think which will be nice for carpenters who have to inspect less wood
  6. I changed the title to include the idea of additional 200ft coasters- not just wood. With that being said I think in terms of 200ft, a dive coaster seems possible in the distant future since they're compact and GP magnets. Others say that a coaster replacing Vortex might hit 200ft. (I'm talking about 200ft drops so Orion is off the table)
  7. I'm fine with these too @MrSourNinja when you say ground up RMC do you mean a single rail or a hybrid? I also wouldn't mind a Steel Curtain type coaster as you mentioned as long as it packs in the inversions
  8. Nope, it'll be over 4,600 ft in length so it won't need one really and it'll speed over those hills. It bares a lot of similarities to Orion if you think about it
  9. @FUN&ONLY! that midway needs some love imo
  10. I might be the minority here thinking it might be bad for business to open up the park, even to reduced capacity, at this time from a public relations viewpoint. To me it wouldn't look good for their PR if something bad were to happen like a potential spike in cases after reopening, employees succumbing to illness, people filming others not practicing social distancing, etc. I feel like the risk to open the park back up might outweigh any foreseeable reward. At least by staying closed they're not opening themselves to controversy. If other local attractions open back, they could look at opening the park but if I were Kings Island I wouldn't be the 1st to open my doors.
  11. I wonder how the alleged Addams family coaster would've changed when Cedar Fair took over. Also it would've given us 4 dark rides which is a cool thought
  12. I'm just going off of speculation. In their proposal to Santa Clara, it mentions an impulse coaster 150'+ which matches Possessed's description. Add that to news that Possessed is being removed so I just put two and two togeather. I could be wrong, it just seemed likely since CF is trying to build up CGA and a relocated impulse could satisfy that desire until they build another group up coaster like a hyper.
  13. So coming back to this topic, I think its a safe bet that Possessed from Dorney Park will find a new home at CGA. Its a good fit for the park considering that its small footprint and the fact that the park doesn't have a launched coaster. What's funny is that the park's direct competitor, Discovery Kingdom, has an impulse of their own so it'll be interesting to see what people will think if CGA does in fact get Possessed. Also, any word on the hyper? I know Covid-19 is reaking havoc on the amusement park industry so we can't really expect anything legit like blueprints for a while
  14. A topic I'd like to bring to bring to people's attention. Should we be allowed to promote/share content such as articles, videos, etc if they are not entirely accurate?
  15. I recall it was once speculated that Swan Lake was drained to accommodate a blitz coaster similar to Maverick. I believe those speculations ended when land started to be cleared on the other side of the path and into the canyon. I think it would've been interesting to see a wooden coaster in that part of the park, I'd imagine it would almost be like Hurler in that plot of land with an RMC conversion decades later. That being said, I'm happy with how things are now. Mystic Timbers and Diamondback are in excellent spots they really help make it the best section in the park.
  16. I don't think RMC is really gone. I'd like to see them work on projects like converting Grizzly at CGA and Hurler at CWS. Not every park needs an RMC and the ones that do don't need have ones as big as Steel Vengeance. Six Flags used RMC as a way to get use out of old wooden coasters that they didn't take good care of. Cedar Fair takes way better care of their wooden coasters which is why I don't think we'll see an RMC at almost every like you see with Six Flags. I consider Cedar Fair and RMC's relationship to be on an "as needed" basis
  17. Some more questions I thought of: Would you want Vortex's replacement to cover the empty space or leave some room for something else? Would you want it to pay homage to Vortex in some way (colors, name, logo, etc)? What types elements would you like to see on a the potential new coaster? (I'd personally pick a zero-g stall and a banana roll)
  18. Thank you, I appreciate that You don't have bad observations, but at times they come off as trollish
  19. You're not obligated to post on this thread you know
  20. @coaster sally you're looking at just Cedar Point, the "Thrill Captial of the World", where Kinzel flooded the park with Intamins in the 2000s. Look at the other top 3 parks in the chain. What have they all gotten since the Cedar Fair acquisition? Collectively KI, CW, & CWS have gotten 8 B&Ms, 1 Mack, 1 GCI, (and a triotech coaster). Even Cedar Point has gotten 2 ground up B&Ms and converted their stand-up. All the rides mentioned are safe and reliable which is what Cedar Fair is all about. There's a reason you haven't seen a new Intamin in the chain since 2010.
  21. Yes you are correct but I am not looking at all of this from an enthusiast's perspective. As an enthusiast I'd love for KI to get an Intamin like Maverick but I know it'll never happen financially. I've argued B&M is the safest choice just because of reliability. The general public could really care less about what manufacturer a coaster comes from. Not a lot of GP have ridden Medusa, Bizzaro, Scream, Rougarou, and other floorless models. You could argue B&M installs cookie cuter Hypers but yet Cedar Fair bought 3 of them as well as 3 of their giga models. Dive machines, which are the most cookie cutter coasters of all time, have been installed at 2 of Cedar Fair's parks and I'm sure there's more coming down the road. As I got older, I started to learn that KI and Cedar Fair try to cater more to the GP because they're the ones who make the parks the most money. I recommend watching Eltoro Ryan's video on I305 if you want to see how going more intense and catering more to the thrill seekers doesn't always reap financial rewards. Maybe we won't get a B&M, maybe we'll get a Mack, an S&S or maybe an RMC single rail, but whatever we get please understand this- when they do decide on a manufacturer it won't be with the enthusiasts in mind but rather the GP who ultimately pay for the coaster.
  22. Hey I agree with you there. We need to gain some inversions back with a high capacity looper. Still I wish they'd prefect their product, especially since its their 1st type of coaster ever built. If we had a painless one the size of Vortex at Carowinds or Georgia Scorcher I'd be fine.
