  1. It seems like screens are the affordable way to go without breaking the bank. I myself am a fan of practical affects and props
  2. I was under the impression that the site is supposed to promote park policies and not argue them.
  3. I think Invertigo's years are numbered personally. Its life might've gotten extended with Stinger's parts but I don't see it lasting past the decade. I also believe another Paramount built coaster will be on its way out within the decade but I'll leave that for another time.
  4. Here's the link: https://movieweb.com/disneyland-splash-mountain-song-of-the-south-princess-frog/ I'm honestly suprised the attraction's lasted this long with it current theme. Song of the South is arguably the most controversial Disney film ever made, so much so that its not on Disney Plus and its almost impossible to find a copy of anymore. Changing the theme wouldn't be a bad thing if I'm being honest. Even though the ride just shows the animal characters and not any of the humans in the movie its still a remnant of the movie nevertheless. Plus The Princess and the Frog is still a younger movie that takes place in a bayou so it would be a seamless transition for a water ride.
  5. In my opinion we've lost too many inversions already so we need to gain some of them back.
  6. I had to pay some money to promote some content on a Instagram page I was working on and I had different options and payment plans I could chose from. Those were pretty affordable though and nowhere near the cost of a tv/radio or billboard advertisement.
  7. But do you have an actual number from a source? Even if you're correct I'm sure we'd all like to see
  8. You do realise its free to post on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter right?
  9. If they rethemed BBoBH to the Peanuts, they could do it two ways. They could theme it to the different tv specials and comics where guess pass by different seasons and stories much like the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh ride at the Disney parks. The second way they could do it, and this would be harder and require more work, would be to keep it one generic theme throughout the regular operating season and then alter parts of the ride scenes for holidays like Halloween and Christmas.
  10. I can understand that. I remember seeing old POVs that the animatronics didn't age well due to the material they were made with so adding a bunch of flat ghosts and still figures made sense from an operations standpoint. Still, I wish Paramount had invested more into keeping the theater around longer and updating it as the years went on. If they turned it into a Peanuts themed dark ride they'd have to remove the lazier tag aspect because they don't want you shooting at Charlie Brown. Unfortunately I think the gun experience will never leave as it gives the younger audience something different to do besides just sitting and watching scenes go by. @goettablitz you are correct in that IPs are hard to come up with, especially if you want to do something different for each park. I still think it could be pulled off though. Phantom Theater was basically a spin off of the Haunted Mansion that you see at Disney Parks and Snake River Expedition is reminiscent of the Jungle Cruise and other themed boat rides. I remember when I was watching an old KI (or maybe Coney Island) documentary where someone said that you didn't really see a lot of animation in the midwest since you only really get it either in Florida or California. If the park brought in some more dark rides with generic IPs, people might get a similar experience to Disney or Universal. I'm still impressed with the animation I see when I go to Cedar Point and that's nowhere near Disney/Universal quality.
  11. I'm sorry but you have to do more than just that. Don't you want to expand your audience so you can have more guests ride it? Here's an example that supports my theory. The Bengals had the 1st pick in the 2020 draft and for months they kept hyping people up, teasing who they might pick and getting fans excited. When they eventually drafted Joe Burrow, their social media team didn't let up as they kept posting about their new qb every chance they got on their social media accounts. Any product you have you have to market it, even if people aren't able to experience it yet.
  12. It wouldn't have been any different. There wasn't much marketing before the virus became an issue in the US.
  13. I'm sorry but as someone who has a background in marketing that logic is somewhat flawed. You still need to market your product to people regardless of what it is. Social media has given companies the ability to market their own product without having to rely heavily on commercials, tv advertisements, etc. Amusement parks can provide updates on their rides, show unique footage and camera angles, and can reach an audience so vast its literally world wide. If you're hoping the ride will market itself based solely off of height, without any additional tools or techniques, then you've lost a lot of potential exposure that could've built up anticipation and boosted ridership even more.
  14. Here's my argument and maybe people won't agree with me: if I'm spending 30 million dollars on a ride, I'm going to market the heck out of it and try to give it as much exposure as possible.
  15. I don't condone any type of behavior that violates park policies but enthusiasts are like hungry animals- if you don't feed them, they're going to search for their own food. That's why we have idiots flying stuff over the park and upsetting management. I think people felt deprived and wanted to find out stuff on their own. I'm sure the park is super proud of their giga but I think their quietness leads people to believe they aren't. Sometimes keeping things a mystery has unfortunate consequences.
  16. Heck Mystic Timbers had some additional theming added to the station throughout the course of the 2017 season if I remember correctly
  17. In response to your 1st point, hopefully it would be something to incorporate in later seasons if and when the chain is able to spend the money In response to your 2nd point, if it is indeed already paid for and might not get installed even when the ride debuts, at least its something extra to look forward to down the road
  18. Hopefully the theming was already been paid for a while ago
  19. At multiple points in its history Kings Island has had a total four dark rides/enclosed attractions operating: Flight of Fear, The Crypt, Action Theater, and Boo Blasters on Boo Hill. (You could argue we have had six with the scenes on Adventure Express and Mystic Timbers but I just consider them show sections) In the recent years the number of dark rides/enclosed attractions has dwindled to two with just Flight of Fear and Boo Blasters. The Crypt obviously had its issues and the Action Theater kinda lost its luster during its final years before it retired. So what happened? Are dark rides not worth investing in? Are they too complicated to maintain? I know Disney and Universal parks have plenty of dark rides but those companies have the capital to pull it off. There have been a few dark rides that have bit the dust within the past decade: Curse of Darkastle, The Crypt and Action Theater are the only ones that come to mind but I know there's more I'm missing. With all this in mind, could we see more dark rides return to Kings Island and possibly other parks in the chain? I remember when people thought we'd get a Triotech dark ride like Wonder Mountain's Guardian which never happened. The Crypt building is still standing to many still speculate that something will be installed inside. What of Action Theater? Can it be brought back and operate or does it need to be overhauled? Look how long Boo Blasters has been at the park unchanged since 2010.
  20. I agree I wouldn't mind a side coaster update. I think we all know that in vertigo's living on borrowed time and that's most likely going to be the next coaster to bite the dust so we will be without a "front entrance" coaster. I know I beat this concept like a dead horse but I wouldn't mind if we got a dive coaster to fill that space and sacrifice Congo Falls as well. It wouldn't have to break any records or anything, just be well themed, have a 90° drop, and look visually appealing. I know Cedar Point has Valravn but I don't think it would matter since more and more dives are popping up around the world. Maybe there's a better type of coaster to replace Invertigo and serve as eye candy but I can't think of one off the top of my head. @coaster sally I wouldn't be opposed to a parking lot coaster as long as it's not like Scream! and has grass and looks like its part of the park
  21. I have a few ideas on how to update Oktoberfest for the better: Relocate Slingshot to Area 72 or to a different section of the park to allow more room for a flat Get rid of or relocate the ladder game and shorten/reroute the Adventure Express line to accommodate an additional flat Rebranding Hank's Burrito Shack to something that represents German cuisine: "Hanoch's Goetta Haus" or something along those lines Finally (calling in the 11th commandment) maybe theme Adventure Express to Oktoberfest while keeping the name? That one might be harder to pull off
  22. Along with a lot of random thoughts that come through my head on a daily basis, I churned up some old memories of people talking about wanting a front gate coaster as well as an updated front entrance. With this in mind I decided to make a poll to settle whether we should get a front gate coaster along with an updated enterance or not so please feel free to vote. I personally said that we don't need an updated entrance or a front gate coaster. I think emerging on the other side of the restaurant and seeing International Street with the Eiffel Tower and the fountains is a pretty awesome experience. It's very similar to one you're at a sports arena and you walk through a tunnel and you see the whole field open up before your eyes. Also I wouldn't want a front gate coaster like GateKeeper, Leviathan, or Fury 325 because it would take away from viewing the Eiffel Tower walking up to the entrance. In theory if you do it right anything will look good but for now I'm happy with the front gate how it is.
  23. Seeing Scooby Doo at another park is like seeing an old girlfriend with someone else
  24. I understand why they stopped the actors/actresses because it became a transport ride in the late 80s so it didn't make sense. Still if you look at other amusement parks that have railroads they still offer props for guests to view. Look at Cedar Point:
