  1. That's true but Vortex outlived all of them so I personally would want to see a modern looping coaster take its spot. Like what @Benjamin22 said, and what I've been arguing for months, is that KI lost a ton of inversions these past two years- 11 to be exact. If we don't get a coaster that has at least 6 inversions I would be a little disappointed
  2. Its about time they come out with a new model. They started their coaster career with a stand-up model so I would like to see that perfected. While I still believe they could try a 4d model, I think they're another decade or so from attempting that. There's a reason why there's not a lot of large scale 4d coasters out there.
  3. I chose a floorless because it would be the closest modern replacement for Vortex in terms of coaster types. Well technically a B&M sit-down would be closer but there was only 5 of those ever built. I love the experience of a traditional chainlift coaster with 6+ inversions and a B&M sit-down/ floorless would be the only type that would fit that profile. Sure we could get a wing, dive, launched, etc but at the end of the day I'd still think there'd be something missing.
  4. It doesn't help that theres a whole section of it's Wikipedia page dedicated to "Safety Incidents"
  5. Yes, I'm aware, I'm just saying foundations of any kind need to be inspected to determine if they're able to still serve their purpose. Some work fine, like with Verbolten, and others don't.
  6. I think its up to the people who inspect the foundation. Also here's a crude concept I whipped up for what I'd expect a floorless (or even just a sit down looper) to look like in that plot of land. (Yes thats Dominator)
  7. If you want to look at a good flat catalog, look at some of the flats Canada's Wonderland has added in the past decade
  8. I've keep looking at the little midway between the old Vortex spot and BLSC and think it would be reworked. If you relocate the 3 point challenge somewhere else in the park and cut into a chunk of the underused BLSC plaza, you could add a flat or two and really take advantage of the abundant space.
  9. I've been thinking about this a lot lately- Dinosaurs Alive was a good idea if you think about it. When I heard the park was getting DA, I was originally under the impression that it wouldn't be connected to the main park and you'd have to get a seperate ticket to get in. I sometimes wonder how things would've been different if this were true. In a few ways, I'd argue it would make more money. I think having it in the park was a huge turn off for guests and school groups. Most guests didn't want to pay the extra $5 to get in and school groups didn't want to pay for park admission if they wanted to see just the dinos. If they had it seperate from the park where people would pay, say $20 for adults/ $10 for kids (ballpark price) I'd argue it might've seen higher foot traffic. The biggest issue though would be to put it somewhere where people could enter seperatly, installing plumping for bathrooms, installing eateries, etc. It could've been a more popular attraction but I understand they had a contract with the company who supplied the dinos so I always kinda knew it wasn't going to be permanent.
  10. How much of the building is used for Cavern or Terror? I remember 1st inaguaral season they had a dinning event as well.
  11. I'm confused. Is it going to be a cream color or is that the primer?
  12. I'm not denying their success with other parks but if I worked for Cedar Fair, I'd be more concerned with how they work with my chain. There's a huge reason why the chain hasn't worked with Intamin in over a decade. Like I said, I'm all for their return but they gotta show Cedar Fair they can work within their safety/ reliability standards and produce a product that reflects that.
  13. I would go at the blitz coaster similar to Maverick which is a top 10 coaster for me. Personally, I'm all for Intamin's return but I'm still skeptical on their reliability. I'm going to have to see how Pantheon turns out before I make a final judgement call. I know their issues with Intimidator 305, Shoot the Rapids, and others have not made them a friend of Cedar Fair. Hopefully they can rebuild their reputation like Vekoma is doing and focus more on reliability rather than taking risks. Until I see a change I think Cedar Fair will continue to buy from Mack Rides.
  14. I mean I feel like they went too big with Steel Vengeance and now they're more or less paying the price for it. Smaller ones are fine, (Twisted Timbers, Joker, Twisted Cyclone, etc) Once you start trying to break a bunch of records with a company you don't have any past experience with things might get hairy. Besides, CF might be more interested in their single rails vs their wooden products at the moment.
  15. I wish B&M would take a crack at a 4d coaster, or at least try and design a prototype
  16. Not to make this a two person thread but I agree. I'd rather have us invest in what we have ad opposed to getting new things. Kings Island is one of those parks that doesn't need to be built up like Carowinds or Canada's Wonderland. I think that once Vortex gets properly replaced, we won't really need a new coaster. Honestly I'd like them to look back at theming. You mentioned investing in Racer and Adventure Express but I'd also add Diamondback to that list as well. I think adding more theming to the ride will help. And for God's sake someone please bring some theming back to the train
  17. You think Cedar Fair will ever invest in regular season single rider lines?
  18. I'm going to say this- I think we need to switch our narrative from coaster speculation to just general year to year additions and changes. The investor relations that @139Signal27 was referring to has made me think more about other things besides just coasters. From now on I'm personally not going to look at just what coasters we could get as opposed to other things. I think we'll soon start to see a hiatus of coasters and will see more smaller additions like flats, updated areas, new experiences, etc
  19. I agree with you 100% @139Signal27, I just don't know if we'll see that in 3-5 years. Maybe 5 years at least. Like what you said, CF is focusing on other things vs just big coasters so they're gonna diversify their attractions. When we do get coasters I think they'll focus less on stats and more on theming: IE Mystic Timbers and Orion. It turns out the GP loves theming as much as enthusiasts do nowadays (makes me more convinced that they'll do some updates to BBoBH) You might see them take more of a theme park approach vs the amusement park approach they're been comfertable with for so many years.
  20. I'm not saying its impossible but it seems highly unlikely. I've talked to some CF execs who said they see KI as more of a regional park as opposed to a destination park. Still, maybe the market research they've conducted tells a different tale. Perhaps the presence of an on-site hotel would increase guest spending and draw in more people from Kentucky and Indiana who would turn their one day trip into two or maybe three days. A hotel wouldn't necessarily decrease the number of visitors you get a year. You could even have it open year round when the park isn't open to keep making money during the offseason
  21. I'd have to disagree with him on a few things: I was happy Orion was placed where it was. CF already had two front gate gigas so I'm happy we broke away from that trend. I don't think there needs to be a coaster over the Oktoberfest lake and Tower Gardens. Those areas are too pretty to be ruined by a coaster.
  22. Not trying to sound rude but are any of you actual doctors or nurses? I'm wondering where some of you are getting your facts from when it comes to this virus
  23. Amtrak has done that to subsidize their operations.
