It was on and off before that. I think it did eventually drain to the lake, so yes… I think that’s when it was rendered totally inoperable.

Ive tried to find the FestHaus fountains pictures.it was similar to the coney one -just smaller (there was not the big round planter that I’d there now. I only have sketchy memories from a trip WAY back in 1984 (first time at KI-lonnng before moving to Cincinnati from Tennessee) but I remember them as having underground resivoirs that the water would flow into (like splash pads of today -way ahead of their time LOL or very similar to the big fountain in Soak City where the water pools on the concrete but then flows under a grate in the pavement. The Rivertown one you can basically figure out from looking at it now since all they really did was turn it off and fill it with soil a bit-but the stream channel is still visible. As you can see from this picture-they’ve trashed a beautiful park over the years and are SLOWLY getting it back into shape

I’m still hoping for an indoor wild mouse in the TRTR building. With minimal changes there’s a mine shaft theme right there. Use the old preshow room for load. Maybe tack in additional building on the back side for unload to speed up throughput so cars come back empty and continuously load. Use the separator room for additional switch backs. There is FINALLY enough growth to the bamboo etc to almost hide the building from the front, and the sides could get additional landscaping and glass building fronts built to hide the box-open up the path back to use the original entrance-exit of The Beast and theme the wild mouse to one of the abandoned mine shafts of the Miami Valley mining operation-which was suddenly abandoned in the early 1900s when a mysterious beast was rumored to be wandering the woods where the mines are located.

As we’ve seen before… nothing is totally sacred (Vortex station) and that LaRosas is old and not that efficient for anything else. I know enhanced food operations is a priority for them moving forward, and I could see a lot of “original” food “stands” going the way of coney bbq or other designs with a mix of prep-service and seating to elevate the overall experience.
-
I’ve been raked over the coals for saying it, but I really wish The Vortex spot woujd become a lake/calm boat attraction that a new “Rivertown food hall” multi stand dining location (where the LaRosas is now) would overlook the lake with tiered outdoor dining. Home style “country sandwiches”, Bone in fried chicken, Even a great Tex-mex, burrito place that would free up the space where Hanjs is and get burritos out of German area. Agree about the water-there used yo be so much more. Waterfalls in tower gardens, waterfall in Rivertown, FestHaus fountain, coney fountains, adventure village waterfall, elephant fountain in Hanna-Barbara.

Totally agree. There was 109% no reason that needed to go there other than it was a vanity project that they wanted top “visibility” for- but ironically it’s not really that visible other than in ways that makes in confusing as to how to even get to it. No idea why they left the curb cut/ paved path from the antique cars. I see so many people go that way to BLSC and you can get that annoyed if they “cut” in line from that point as the park almost invites it. CF definitely inherited a mess from those last few paramount years.

I know it will NEVER be like this again, and truthfully SHOULDNT be so devoid of some of the great additions over the years, but seeing an image like this you realize how much just some cleaning up of visual clutter and focusing on guest comfort (seating area by the lake) would do to engance the overall experience. KI could definitely look to it’s past to create an elevated, multi age, multi sensory experience without multi million dollar capitol expenditures.

I pretty much feel that way about any show in there. It may have been a great venue when it first debuted, but I’ve never seen anything in there that really got the attention it deserved. It’s an odd mix that doesn’t quite work in a theme park the same way it does at s “dinner theatre”. Maybe if it was something like the ice skating type shows that extended further out into the main room, but that would cut down on dining space. I just don’t think a “scripted” show works in there.
-
Yeah- I’ll be pretty bummed if that foam head, click track show comes back again this year after we’ve had a real show in there. The Charlie Brown show is cute, but definitely more fit for FestHaus or International Showplace (where it would be right next to Planet Snoopy)

There’s no reason they couldn’t flip that set between haunt and Winterfest. Neither one are super complicated (unless PLEASE PLEASE-we are getting a new show of the caliber of Knotts this year in that space.) and the lobby display could already be removed-nice but not needed for an extended run.
-
If only they had a well developed, spooky, funny, family friendly, Halloween appropriate show that took advantage of the capabilities of that space, and that people would line up for. Nah-there’s no way they could ever come up with that…cough cough…phantom theatre… cough cough.

They aren’t doing a haunt show in KIT unless I’m missing something-it would be great if they did!

He is still a big part of the history. I still wish the “kid” in off the rails had been named Gary. Would’ve been a subtle nod to a “dreamer who put his all into doing amazing things” without being too obvious.

That is a nice touch on the non firework nights. Honestly that song so perfectly sums up the park that I wish they’d record it with a few tweaks (no 50) and use it all the time for in park, and external marketing.

Wurlitzer Band Organ to be restored in 2022!

I let’s give it a day or two THEN decide if the sky is falling or not. -
There are a lot of subtle things in this like FUN (Cedar Fair) and Ive tried to figure out a company with CCC possibly in California - I've seen "some sign" here for a while, but for some weird reason was really drawn to look closely at it today. If like others have said it was installed in 2020 (after copperhead strike opened) and was part of that teaser campaign for Copperhead - it's even more telling that when you look at the list that says, They create Sheds (mystic) Seaside Boardwalks (CP Boardwalk) Camping Complexes (Camp Cedar) Midcourse Brake Runs (any recent coaster with them - like Beast), and corn cribs (Copperhead Strike?) - everything BUT the Topspin Structure has come to pass. Maybe this was a derailed teaser campaign for something in the old TRTR that pandemic years stalled. May be nothing, but fun speculation around an old (or new) sign.

I feel like there’s some bad blood in there someplace. I agree it’s odd that they weren’t mentioned that much.

Yes. Non working. They need to take a lesson from Dollywood with their “Ned Oakley” hotline.

Anyone know how long this has been around? Interesting that this kinda hints at Beast related things. CAREFULLY read the copy ESPECIALLY the part about projects in NC AND SC that show the direction of the company (meaning this can’t be that old since it seems to reference comments they have made about the new project at Carrowinds catering to all 5 senses. And hmmmmm what’s that part about TOPSPIN STRUCTURES???? 2023 might be an “off” year, but methinks some wheels are turning for down the road

In that location!

Not sure how much “in house” totally drove the development of those shoes. The corporate director of live entertainment was the one always talking about all of the entertainment, and I believe the director of live entertainment for Knotts actually wrote PTE. I think it was awesome that they were very site specific, but I don’t think they were fully developed in house.

I actually hope they DONT return it next year. I love the “elusive lightning in a bottle” aspects of things like this. Next year I want sone SMURFS darnIT!!!!!
