They originally appeared at haunt with the various mazes featured in each around the tower. They’ve been wheeled out for carnivale AND Winterfest with different graphics in them. I feel like they look more and more like giant trash cans!

Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks

But there won’t be any “renewal” incentive this year since all passes are good for next. There’s little to move the needle there once those payments for 2020 are complete. There really little incentive to buy a New pass for next year at this point when no one knows what 2021 will look like. I wouldn’t if I didn’t already have this years. I don’t know what they can do to stimulate cash flow once the current passes are “paid off” maybe offer 2 for 1 incentives for dining plan, drink plan? Continue with “bring a friend” deals? Not sure. Honestly if they’d knock 2-3 bucks off “meal deals” Or offer free drink (loss leader) when you buy a 14.00 meal we would eat there more. I think they need to get creative with ways to stimulate spending soon. They’re not even going to have as many days to get the $$$$ this year. Might as well get as much as you can while you have them in park. -
Since now Universal Hollywood, Disney World and Land have all pulled the plug on their Halloween events, smaller parks probably won’t be too far behind on that move.

Universal, Disney land and world Halloween events cancelled as of today.i wouldn’t look for haunt this year. -

Noticed that on AE as well. Don’t understand why first tunnel can’t get some basic LED flood lights just so you can see what’s in there (I swear I even heard snake hissing in there) but that last lift. Wooof that’s bad. Most of the rock work is now gone from overhead. Lighting is almost nonexistent and soundtrack is pretty much silent. Even some basic projection mapping would go a LONG way in there and maybe eliminate the mechanical animations that barely work anyway (if at all)

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex

Not sure what you mean by the question. It’s already a natural depression. You either go with a natural pond and compact the clay soil to hold water, or line it with concrete or an impermeable vinyl liner. Either if those bodies of water could have a large fountain installed in them fir aeration, insect control and aesthetics. -

Didn’t get that deep into the planning, but probably the “entrance” would be to the right of The Beast entrance. At some point you would probably have to cross under the track to get to the lake side. The factory would be by the lake. I’d have to look at a real overhead to see where or if it would work, but just and idea. I love the single rain since the “off road” theme was used with rail blazer, they’ve already gone that way. Add some “natural elements back in the woods like a tunnel, waterfall and rock bridge to over under. Almost like Hagrids at universal where the track stays low and uses the natural terrain with a few overbanked pops herd and there to simulate trail riding. -
All good compromises. My thought was by dropping two days, you really aren’t adding anything, just shifting those hours onto your two longer days. I’m sure things will shift and the last thing they really need is all of us trying to tell them how to run things, but it’s fun to theorize LOL.

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex

“On the banks of The Beast Canyon Lake, Peters Outdoor Adventures has set up shop in the old abandoned factory. Book your off road, 4 wheeling adventure today and explore the backwoods of Miami Woods like never before. Climb aboard your off road vehicle and buckle up for a straight ahead launch into a twisting, exhilarating run through the woods with a final double splash down through the lake. This RMC, single rail coaster will be an exciting adventure that the family can experience together.” RMC single rail, launched. Themed station house references Peters Cartridge building. Track wrapped through the woods (minimal tree removal) Maybe even interaction with Beast ( the immersion has already been broken with Orion) Add lake where Vortex was. Splash down out of the woods “Bounces” across the water like an off road ride. Access ride from the service road behind beast (remove/replace slaughter house with a better themed building or incorporate haunt maze space into new themed “factory” building). Just a thought. -
I totally agree with the time. Even if they CLOSED Monday and Tuesday, had Weds, Thurs and Sunday be 10-6 and Fri and Sat be 10-10 It would give more cool time in the AM and PM. They would still cut out a full shift of front facing payroll and have 2 days to clean, do projects and push the attendance into less, fuller days.

And extend the seating at Larosas around the building with awesome waterfront dining and please replace pizza with a more theme appropriate “signature” dining option like fried chicken and great sides. Maybe even set up like a family style “buffet”. Even if you had to take over the arcade to do it, I do t think that would be a big loss. All of that, including the soccer game should go to coney or action. -

Needed, but that was a horrible spot. It interrupted so much and required so much reworking. Seemed like short sighted planning to get a massive “beast” right in the middle of everything. I think it could’ve been added AND had some of the visibility without wrecking the charm of the area. -
I wasn’t complaining they were doing it (did sound that way) I was just surprised on a BEAUTIFUL Friday evening they still had them to dole our after 4. It’s just doesn’t seem like things are going as well as I’m sure they hoped numbers wise.

Seeing it in person now I suggest nothing but a lake and green space. It’s beautiful seeing from Beast load across open space all the way to coney. There is undeveloped land all over this place. I’d hope they finish clearing, create a water feature that brings Beast station back to its original design AND gives that marque ride the visibility it has earned. OR incorporate a flume ride into the lake going back into the woods trying to keep as much or the tree line as possible as a nod to Kentons. It would be cool if they could make it look like it connects to the Diamondabak lake and really make water the centerpiece of (wait for it) RIVERtown. Enough coasters for now. Really, didn’t we just get one???? -
True. I just can’t see 7 days a week continuing like this. I mean it’s glorious for a park goers who doesn’t mind a mask, but this HAS to be killing overhead. I’m SO IMPRESSED they even swapped out the flowers on the flower carts and all the 4th decor from Monday. They aren’t “cutting corners” with a lot of this.
-
It’s Friday. It’s open to general public. It’s 4pm and they are giving out Orion tickets still. This doesn’t look good guys. The park seems desolate. It’s a beautiful day. Much milder than Monday when I was here and there are less people here. Yikes.

Yep. I don’t think things are going that great. Actually I’d rather at this point see them cut days ( M-W) maybe add an hour each way (10-8) and get rid of reservations. They have to know through gate clicks coming (and figure out how to count leaving if they don’t) the current actual capacity. If you account for a certain % of “be backs” you should be able to know at any given time, and communicate via a digital link, the current capacity. People would have to acknowledge that that could change by the time they got there, and if the preferred, make a reservation guaranteeing a spot, but not make it mandatory. I think it would increase the number of pass holders filling in the gap between the daily sales (that would make a reservation) and hopefully keep the park on a better financial footing. The off days could still be used for general maintenance and minor repairs etc if they need to keep staff on.

Based on what I saw yesterday and heard from staff that could be where things head. Maybe they are waiting to see what happens when ticket sales are added in. I think if passhokdeds could call day of or even through the day and see if they have reached capacity and just head over it would help. People don’t want to fool with the reservation system for every little visit. -
Anyone know how late you can come in? I have rez for this Friday and since we were just there Monday, don’t want to spend the whole day (and it REALLY empties out about 4) so we were just coming later.
-
Yes. Go to entrance of area 72. We got there yesterday at 1 and got tickets for return 3-4. Come back during that time to ride. We came at the end of our slot and pretty much walked right On (I even MADE the kids walk through the preshow as the line wasn’t even routed through there.) when we got off right before 4 the next grouped was backed up all the way to the area 72 entrance, so they hold the line until the next time opens.

That echoes what we heard yesterday from a security guy saying the weekdays were very lightly booked. Maybe they hope opening it up more will increase the numbers.
