  1. Yes. They do. There’s an entire promotion based on it.
  2. Dated stuff should never be resold. Either mark it WAY down last night if two, or write it off and trash it. There’s nothing “special” about limited edition stuff a year later. That’s just the “cost” of this type of product. It’s gotta sell or be gone.

  5. Check out the new show at Knotts this year. THAT is what needs to be in KI Theatre. Move snoopys silly spectacular to festhaus and change it up a bit each year (like the Christmas pop show at the handstand, just keep it more “traditional”) but it couldn’t be that hard to restage a few numbers each year. Get rid of the “snoopys missing” bit and just make it a “Peanuts Christmas Review” Then spend sone $$$ partially enclosing (heat, extend the roof, maybe some temp side walls) the International Showplace and put Timkers or some variant of that there.
  6. Opening night the tree lot wasn’t lit and didn’t even look open.
  7. Awesome. I think you captured the spirit of the event EXACTLY. glad you had a great time!
  8. Anyone think tomorrow will be a wash-out cancellation? They only closed one night last year due to weather and it was a weeknight before Christmas. Assume it will go on since it’s probably a “prime night” being the day after thanksgiving, but be interesting to see if there’s a rain cancellation or reduction in hours.
  9. Tons of them. In fact a lot of the seating was almost unusable unless you like to sit in a bubble bath. Soap snow is cool, but when it’s blown at a lower height like they do, it really doesn’t dissipate before it hits the ground. Would almost be better if the machines were on the rooftops of the buildings pointed up to get greater height.
  10. They need to be just a WEE bigger. The bases of the “fountains” hang over a bit, but yes, I’m impressed they went to the effort of doing this instead of just plopping the fountains in the entrace or in a random flower bed.
  11. I also liked that all of I street lighting was integrated with the show. It really makes for an immersive environment.
  12. So impressed all the images in coney BBQ have been changed to past Winterfest pics. They are upping the details big time. Quite a few technical issues with lighting thus eve in coney and on I street, but opening night always has a few glitches. Seeing kids have a great time interacting with the 4 drummers makes the “oops” moments fade. And the queue house trim on mystic looks great. Nice new addition. and it looks like EVERYONE had a great night. Love the characters - official or otherwise- that come out for Winterfest!
  13. I think when they add that next year (hint) they will either have to open a hour earlier and push everything forward, or eliminate the last performance of all shows since essentially all of the casts become the parade performers.
  14. Since they are starting to announce dates for this at carrowinds and valley fair, anyone know when this will be at KI next year? If they are still rotating the two sets of floats and costumes, it’s going to be tight if it’s still running at the original 4 parks

  16. These were a holdover from when Lazarus in cincinnati was Shilletos. Lazarus in Columbus did not have these guys.
  17. Disney has LOTS of competition in that area now.
  18. Thanks. I had forgotten how much more was in that. I loved that in the original the ship (and even the room) interacted much more with the video. Anyone remember the “groping blackouts” and the cut to live cams showing the actual people in line? Good fun!
  19. I do agree something more exciting in the main ride, but interesting story point. If you ever saw the original long form queue video (not sure if it’s still part of it) the ship “came to life” and the video was a “acid brain trip” with swirling colors and patters” that the aliens were “broadcasting” as a brain experiment. That’s what the interior is referencing with the colored lights. We’ve never been “launching into space” rather being taken on a brain trip experiment by the aliens now that we are in their control.
  20. Wow. Great job. Much better allocation of resources this year to create themed areas. Coney had the energy it was lacking last year. The passage around the tower “wintetfest way” has the more organized look if lacked last year. Just an all around great job. There were of course a few technical glitches like no moving lights in candy cane lane, but I’m sure they’ll be addressing all of that as the event continues. I’m still amazed at the detail they put into trim elements (decor in the wreaths and trees) that is barely visible after 6 when it’s dark. They certainly could open earlier and it would look great. It’s an event that is definitely NOT just all about lights like the zoo.
  21. Its so refreshing to hear honest talk about operational issues instead of cinnamon bread loving "I'll have great time even if it's closed" don't bash the park-res that populate TPR. A lot of people really love Dollywood and want to see success, but are honestly frustrated about the closures and question their ability right now to successfully deal with the situation. I for one thing DW is a superior park, but am getting a little nervous about what this situation is also doing for their long term growth plans, which Im sure were based on the revenue lift and attendance lift that this attraction would bring. Buying that Lighting Rod shot glass right now is a little like salt in the wound if you are one of the MANY that have not been able to enjoy it.
  22. I think at this point the public (those who don't follow forums like this and know the recall was for a cylinder for the restraint system, and the delays and recall were never for safety) don't know what the delays and closures are for are are starting to assume it is for safety reasons. I was at the park last week and - got to ride it during a few hours of up time, but definitely heard a lot of "you'd never get me on that thing - its not safe" type comments while people were standing there gawking during all the down times. The longer the park plays the "its just commissioning - technical rehearsal" card the more it starts sounding like they are hiding something. Truthfully at this point I think they should really explore the idea of PUBLICLY STATING that the ride - while totally safe is having serious operational issues, and that the ride will not open for the remainder of the 16 season so that they can readdress those issues and have a successful "relaunch" next year. The on again, off again operation certainly isn't doing anything for their marketing, merchandise sales, and must be playing havoc with payroll as you have ride ops and hosts show up to "maybe" work a few hours, then sit - wait - be redistributed to other areas of the park, be called back to LR - be sent home etc etc etc. Its a shame, because it IS a great ride. It COULD be an awesome calling card for the park, but the longer it goes on like it is the more damage I fear it is doing to the long term perception of the ride and the park.
  23. Its a forum to express opinions - Mine are expressed. If you don't like them - sorry, but I can still have them and express them. Im not negatively affected - I don't sit at home for hours as a pastime dreaming of Kings Island - I just see the potential in this park that would appeal to me.
  24. Oh and "moved on" from a Starlight Spectacular but left half of the lights hanging out of the half dead trees - Replaced it with nothing in the way of evening entertainment (except for the 5 min firework "spectacular" set to the oddest chopped up soundtrack I've ever heard. These have all been GREAT changes.
  25. and the "huge" Starbucks is unthemed to anything other than "Starbucks" and the petting zoo looks like a temporary event that just stayed. We also tore down a nonfunctioning waterfall and added MULCH to an area that looks disgusting with dead trees filling all the old stream beds and nothing but a few shrubs filling the "Tower Gardens" while the haze of smoke fills the air of this "relaxing spot" right next to the grand carousel with burt out light bulbs, chipping paint and missing wood detail.
