  1. As themuska11 stated, that's what the park did for Club Blood in 2007. They built a brand new structure that is used only one-and-a-half months of the year. I've always wondered why the park didn't continue to utilize that space for a haunted attraction - even though they found a more ideal location for the maze (the old mining building where Diamondback's queue now resides), that empty field still served as an unoccupied piece of land an attraction could be built every fall.
  2. I was in Planet Snoopy yesterday with my younger cousin, and was surprised when "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands" (a religious American spiritual) started playing over the loud speakers. Anybody else find it odd that such a song would be playing in the park?
  3. I just wanted to remind everybody, as a former Kings Island ride operator, that if you ever enjoyed something an associate does PLEASE don't hesitate to stop by Guest Services on your way out or shoot the park an email to compliment them. It gives those hard-working associates the recognition they deserve, brings them to management's attention, and can also boost their morale and continue their excellent performance.
  4. According to a friend of mine who was a ride operator last season, Eiffel Tower and Grand Carousel are one crew, and Boo Blasters is paired with three small Snoopy attractions. Both crews are in "Planet Snoopy" though, and therefore cross training is probably common.
  5. For anybody who saw the marquee over the past month, the new screen itself looks great - it's very vibrant and bright. The graphics though were mediocre at best - it almost looks like someone sat down, opened up Microsoft PowerPoint, and tried making the graphics on that. They were that bad. Thankfully, as of today or earlier, the screen's graphics look GREAT! They're now animated, colorful, and easy to read (formerly, the font choices and colors were horrid). The Dinosaurs Alive! one "chomps" down on the text, the "Connect with us" screen shows large social media icons and legible URLs, the military admission advert has a waving American flag. All in all, an awesome change to the sign.

  7. I hope the park isn't done giving attention to the ride. It still has a lot of military characteristics: the painted stars and American flag in the queue line, the lighting fixtures, and some funky yellow and black striped speakers in the station. Hopefully that short tunnel in the queue is painted, and it'd look fantastic if the park replaced the lighting fixtures with the gothic lighting style around Banshee. I also woudn't mind seeing the chain link lock-out fence replaced with a wrought iron fence like Banshee has - that'd look far nicer. Finally, I highly doubt this would occur, but I wouldn't mind seeing the queue rails repainted or replaced. They're currently the faded, grody gray that the supports used to be.
  8. As Voicetek said, it only ran for part of 2006. Prior to the film starting, while guests were loading into their seats, the Cartoon Friends song from Enchanted Voyage piped over the speaker system. It was a nice, nostalgic touch.
  9. I'm pretty certain that Phantom Theater was never listed as an attraction in Hanna Barbera Land. Did you not click a single link XGatorHead posted? Phantom Theater was part of Hanna-Barbera Land from 1992 through 2002. The only time the main attraction that building has not been part of the children's section, but instead International Street, is 2006 onward. Eh, not quite. In terms of operations, International Street and Planet Snoopy are a single section, and all the rides associates have the same uniform there. And the crew that specifically operates Boo Blasters is also responsible for 3-4 other Snoopy attractions.
  10. No it hasn't. Enchanted Voyage was part of The Happy Land of Hanna-Barbera from 1972 to 1981, and part of Hanna-Barbera Land 1982-1983. Smurf's Enchanted Voyage was part of Hanna-Barbera Land 1984-1991. Phantom Theater was part of Hanna-Barbera Land 1993-2002. Scooby-Doo and the Haunted Castle was part of Hanna-Barbera Land 2003-2005. It wasn't until 2006, when Hanna-Barbera Land was transformed into Nickelodeon Universe, that the dark ride transitioned to International Street. It's been part of that section since.
  11. ^Hey now, let's not get our hopes up.
  12. What's your source for 2018?
  13. Kings Island tweeted the incorrect information in the link from April 2012. Coney had two Scramblers prior to Kings Island's existence, and as The Interpreter stated, our current one opened in 1969. According to Charles J. Jacques, Jr.'s (wonderful) Cincinnati's Coney Island: From the above, it sounds as though the 1957 Scrambler may have been removed after the boy's death, despite the accident clearly being rider error. Also, unrelated, page 191 also mentions that "Rides were purchased only if they could be used in the new park", then it goes on to say that Olympic Bobs were added in 1969. Kings Island didn't add their own Olympic Bobs (Bayern Kurve) until 1973 - does anybody know if the two rides were the same, but the new park just kept the attraction in storage for the 1972 season?
  14. FearFest is a registered trademark of Paramount Parks and must therefore always be capitalized.
  15. Both of those have been around for years.
  16. I can see why a lot of people would dislike the idea ("ruining" the aesthetic appeal of the Tower, etc.), but I honestly wouldn't be against it. It'd be a thrilling new attraction, would add a cool look to the Tower, etc.
  17. I'm pretty positive that the train was delayed in 2006 because it had been operational for Winterfest that year
  18. The Beast queue is very narrow! especially compared to newer attractions like Delirium and Diamondback. It's especially noticeable when you have to leave the queue midway through waiting, and have almost no means of getting around or through the other guests. Opened in 1988 as Amazon Falls, renamed in 1999 to Congo Falls.
  19. No, they sometimes do. It's very, very rare, and the park will do everything in their power to avoid it (including cross-training from different departments, like Admissions or Food), but it sometimes still happens. If you don't have the people available, then not all the rides can run.
  20. But who will administer the punishment? Bubba did not seem to be talking yesterday, so somebody else will have to make them pay... If Adventure Express' sound is anything like Top Gun's was when I worked it, it may have just been a case of the operators not pushing a single button when they started the ride in the morning. I bet, had you told them that the sound was off, they would've looked at their control panel, pressed a button, and apologized.
  21. ^Everything FUNTV is apparently aiming to be is identical to what the queue TV system was when it was installed in (I think) 1995. I'm trying to find a newspaper article I read a couple years back about the 1990s system - you could republish it today and it'd work the same. Regarding FUNTV, I think TheCrypt asked this on the previous page, what are all the attractions that have it thus far? From this queue and elsewhere, I've gathered... Delirum Banshee Adventure Express Flight of Fear Beast Vortex Flying Ace Aerial Chase What am I missing?
  22. The more you read about it? How about actually trying it? Cause until then, you're primarily basing your opinion off miscellaneous complaints on enthusiast boards. And as you of all people should know, enthusiasts are a very vocal minority. Their opinion, no matter how loud or present it may seem, remains a very minor one. And as RailRider perfectly sad above, Disney enthusiasts are especially change averse. Heck, many of them freaked out when Disney announced plans to rename the parking lot sections. The parking lot sections. Coming from someone who has actually used the new FastPass+ and MyMagic+, the system is great. There's no more splitting parties to sprint to an attraction in the morning, there's no more paper tickets or room keys you could potentially lose, there's no more crossing the park again and again without riding the rides the first time through, major attractions no longer run out of FastPasses before noon, and the whole system is far more flexible and convenient. Are there kinks or flaws that need fixed? Of course, just as there were when FastPass was originally introduced. But the company is already addressing them, and they're incredibly minor. This is a very wise investment from Disney and it'll quickly pay off for them in guest satisfaction and increased spending. And I guarantee it'll find its way to Disneyland, and the international parks, shortly thereafter.
  23. As others have stated, it's typically cheapest in the morning. You can buy a ticket then, and then come back at any point during the day to ride.
  24. ^Yeah, as you can clearly see in this picture, the train is travelling the right direction - from right to left.
