Today, I witnessed a 40ish "country boy" throw a hissy fit in an Ulta because he was asked to wear a mask. Why can't people be like, "You know what, fair enough!" and turn around? Do these people not realize how ridiculous they look by acting this way? Anyways, bringing it back to KI, my condolences are to those working the front gate and thus forced to deal with such behavior this season.

Kings Island Vintage Photos - 1973-1992
Joshua replied to TombraiderTy's topic in Kings Island History
This may be a controversial opinion, but I think the area looked better without the Festhaus. -
Wait, did it? I thought it merely swooped by the track while you were leaving the station?
-
Backwards Racer would be amazing, but I'd also be happy if they restored the ride to its original paint scheme.

If an establishment asks us to wear masks, we should respect that policy instead of looking for childish excuses to break said policy.

The biggest loss is that lava effect at the end.

I've been listening to grumps my entire life. They complain about how "people get too offended these days" and downplay every single issue (that conveniently doesn't affect them) as people "whining." When people protest a business for rejecting customers based on certain kind of preference, they defend that business by saying "they have the right to reject customers based on their reasons." And yet, here I am, listening to the same resentful schmucks getting offended by businesses asking them to wear face masks, and claiming it's "injustice."* Sadly, I used to listen to people like this. As I've gotten older, I realized.. they're completely full of it. *For the record, I'm talking about people I know in person and those who are actively protesting the face mask situation -- as well as the grown men throwing temper tantrums at bookstores and other businesses -- not necessarily anyone here. I'm sure we all have a weird friend or relative like that.
-
And yet theses same people rant about "outrage culture," "a business' rights to turn away customers over certain (often petty) circumstances," and "people needing special treatment."

It was only a little over a month before the planned opening that everything shut down. So it's feasible that they already had a batch printed and have since decided not to hand them out temporarily due to the pandemic.

I would like to see them keep the Boo Blasters building as a "kiddie" dark ride and build a new, more thrilling one (perhaps themed to PT) in another area of the park. That way it could be a little "scarier." But perhaps not too scary that families with older children can't ride it.

Assuming the line will adhere to social distancing, Fast Lane doesn't seem feasible for the time being.

Co-workers from my former job have been saying customers have been extra hostile lately. There's nothing like a bunch of grown men ranting about "wimps and participation trophies" before throwing temper tantrums in public because they are asked to wear the mask. If you actually cared about businesses as much as you say, you'd follow the rules those businesses establish, regardless of whether you agree with them or not. This is the compromise we all have to make to get everything back up and running. I myself hate wearing a mask. It's hot and sweaty, and I feel like I can barely breathe. But I do it anyway. Why? Because its respectful to those businesses, as well as to other people. If KI makes it mandatory to wear a mask, and you don't want to, then don't go. It's as simple as that.

This made me think of Sheriff Woody. "Somebody's poisoned the water hole!"

I almost never ride it anymore because of that. I'd love to see them abandon roping people off in the saucer. Micromanaging lines is unnecessary on most rides. Granted, when the park opens this year, it's possible every line could be super micromanaged for obvious reasons.
-
For those interested, I believe footage of this ride in action can be seen in a TV documentary called "America Screams."

Here's the thing, if someone isn't get their information from: scientists doctors media politicians/government historians ..then where are they getting their information on COVID-19? Supplying a source might be helpful to others in seeing those viewpoints.

Do you think K.I. will return Phantom Theater in the 50th?
Joshua replied to Cedar Fair Fanboy's topic in KI Polls
I can see that. The climate was headed that way even when PT was first installed. I remember parents having a huge fit over Power Rangers and Ninja Turtles. Although, I think a good compromise could be made. The Haunted Mansion is spooky, but it is also "safe" spooky. But I also dream of a Phantom revival that exists in a different part of the park, one that could appeal to older kids and not hindered from being placed in or near a children's themed area of the park. If they ever re-theme AZ to the spooky theming many here are proposing, a PT revival would be perfect for it. Plus, it would give us an additional ride to cool off in, and then maybe they could transform Boo Blasters back into an Enchanted Voyage boat ride. -
Do walk-through attractions do anything for you?
Joshua replied to SonofBaconator's topic in KI Polls
You're not alone. I love this idea. The park could use a walk-through attraction or two. If not a themed one, the museum idea might be perfect for this. -
Does anyone remember what the western-style music was?
-
Wow! I never knew that they played that in the station. I love that score!
-
Was it this?
-
What about this? It was used for the lift hill music before it was switched to Sub-Primed?
-
The Beast also used music from Independence Day: an excerpt from the track titled "The Darkest Day."
-
You can see the track in this video. Sadly, the monorail doesn't make an appearance.

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex

The return of Kenton's Cove would be amazing!
