When it first opened, your "destination" on Adventure Express was to be Outpost 5. Later, when Son of Beast was built, it was themed to Outpost 5. It could be a reference to that.

Interesting choice. It kind of reminds me of the Close Encounters of the Third Kind poster and the font used for that sign does have a 70s/sci-fi kinda look. (Although, it also reminds me of the T2 logo.) But I do wonder how that area transition will work. It seems like it would be somewhat jarring

That looks amazing! Seeing that blue streak in the night sky makes me think of the Enterprise going to Warp Speed.

They're not being toxic, let it go.

Not only that, but you also can tell by the character models. Still though, I wish I could find a concrete source that specifically states that HB produced it.
-
It had some "Bye, Felicia!" level energy too.

Online Reservations NOW OPEN on KI's Website
Joshua replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
You can also find it on the KI app. Unfortunately, it won't let you copy and paste it. -
It's found here: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/welcoming-you-back/when-youre-in-the-park Indy mentioned the possibility earlier in this thread, and also included it in his Newsroom post, which I quoted in my above post. Now that's not to say it doesn't become permanent, but since there is no use for a mask-free zone when masks aren't required, there are good odds the smoking areas might return.
-
The park is offering: They most likely converted the old smoking areas and a few others places into these "RelaxZones." Which very likely could mean this change is temporary.
-
I used to be a smoker. Last year I quit for good. I had terrible cough that didn't go away for 4-5 months. Even though it may not have been related, I never want to go through anything like that again. Also, while I enjoyed the act of smoking, I absolutely hated the bitter aftertaste, smell, and the effects it had on my teeth. So the negatives certainly outweighed the positives.
-
Has the park made a statement as to why they made the change? Claiming it's to shun smokers seems a bit much. If so, they would ban it wholesale from the park. Also, if it was anti-smoking push, because "families and stuff," I doubt they would place the new smoking area at the front gate, where everyone could see. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe the park has made an official statement regarding why they made the change. But it could easily have much to do with the pandemic (itself a respiratory virus) and their current mask policies. If so, then in theory this change would be temporary.
-
Hopefully, they will be more watchful on the queues. It's been suggested before that the park may not have every ride open during this period. If true, then maybe they'll delegate a couple extra hands to watch over the lines on the rides that are opened. That definitely seems more manageable than the midway. The park does have a knack for micro-managing the stations, so there's a skill that can be put to use.

Well, life can be annoying sometimes. You can either complain about it or you can roll with the punches. Either way, you're not always going to get what you want.
-
Which is the unfortunate part. Public health shouldn't be a political issue. Heck, it's not even an American issue. It's an everybody issue.

Considering the webcam debacle(s), could you imagine what it would be like if that had downtime?
-
True, but lately the term has been used as a negative, often in the same breath as "SJWs" and "snowflakes."
-
And yet, some will claim such logic is "virtue signaling."

Hello, Bratwurst!
-
Tower Gardens used to look horrible because of that. Yea, I wondering about that. The front gate doesn't seem to be any better.
-
I'm seeing the option but once I click on it, it just goes to a blank page.
-
Where was it relocated?
-
Today, I witnessed a 40ish "country boy" throw a hissy fit in an Ulta because he was asked to wear a mask. Why can't people be like, "You know what, fair enough!" and turn around? Do these people not realize how ridiculous they look by acting this way? Anyways, bringing it back to KI, my condolences are to those working the front gate and thus forced to deal with such behavior this season.

Kings Island Vintage Photos - 1973-1992
Joshua replied to TombraiderTy's topic in Kings Island History
This may be a controversial opinion, but I think the area looked better without the Festhaus. -
Wait, did it? I thought it merely swooped by the track while you were leaving the station?
-
Backwards Racer would be amazing, but I'd also be happy if they restored the ride to its original paint scheme.
