  1. Wow! That is a serious oversight! No regular maintenance checks?
  2. Of course someone saw them in person. How would this info. have been leaked in the first place had no one seen them in person?
  3. Ummm, raging wolf bobs was re-tracked. It only was SBNO for the last season after the accident. I'm lost on that point.
  4. Sure you do. You tear down parks that don't make money and those that make money, you invest in. Simple...ain't it?
  5. If SF was so successful, why even sell? Looks to me more like SF over-developed, realized what they did way too late, then dumped their troubles on someone else. Would you still be angry had SF just closed GL instead of trying to sell it? The mistake was NOT selling to CF. Many mistakes were made prior to that. So, if you don't scale down GL, then, in your infinite wisdom, what is the answer to bringing in more people through the gates? (a hint: the answer isn't marketing) Remember, CF did not start removing coasters in the first year of the aquisition. CF had to try to rebuild the reputation that SF had ruined.
  6. Well, that absolutely makes sense, then. I did check out rcdb.com and it lists the Big Dipper as being built in 1958. That site is usually correct. Was the predecessor also known as the Big Dipper? Or did it have a different name.
  7. SF killed GL when they decided to install 4 coasters in two years. Who, in their right minds would even consider doing that? SF thought that they could compete with Cedar Point and it was proven that they could not. Here is what I think...had CF not purchased Paramount Parks, GL would have been open this season and maybe one more. SF over-developed and GL paid the price. From all accounts that I have read, GL pre-SF, was a very quaint park, maybe similar to Kennywood. SF tried to build it up into another CP. They had a nice coaster count, but negelected every other aspect of the park. What also helped to do in GL was when Sea World pulled out. Many have complained that 700,000 was enough attendance, but it apparently was not enough for GL to turn a profit. My biggest question to GL fans (and I am one and don't have the answer) is what could CF have done to erase all of those bad feelings created when SF ruined GL's reputation? It would take a lot more than marketing.
  8. Well, actually, maybe staying some with the grandparents, some with aunt Jacque, my sister. She is 42 and not having any more babies. She is very excited that her lil brother is finally going to be a daddy. She would definitely be involved in baby sitting, I'm sure.
  9. Screw the theming...I'll take a better ride program any day.
  10. I concur on both counts! Did you mean light as in weight or light as in color?
  11. My wife and I loved Club Blood! I thought the skimpy outfits were appropriate, but not because of the scare factor, but because it's a CLUB! Been to a club lately? Check out the skimpy outfits there! This thread reminds me of a Dangerous Toys song released in the 1980's and it was about Alice Cooper loving scary movies and being scared in general. The song title was Scared. Some lyrics: Hey man, I think I like being scared- And I wish you all were there- Man I really, really think... think that I think- I like being scared- I know I agree...I like being scared!
  12. That's one long ride from Atlanta to Sturgis! I'd have one very sore bottom side doing that ride! Though I would Like To Do This One Year: Iron Butt Ride And if your mom is on a GoldWing - that's one step away from a darn RV! Lord, some folk don't have houses as nice as most GoldWings! They're not really a problem. You just have some folk that are just "busy bodies" and "control freaks." It's similar to folk that buy houses near airports and complain about the jets. I never understood the people that buy houses near airports, then complain about the noise. Back on topic, if MB gets rid of the bikers and grads, who will be left? Not many families go to the main Myrtle Beach strip to stay. They tend to go to north myrtle.
  13. Drat! I think that it was due to Daytona Trip Reports On The Site! Either That or Being Half Asleep! Myrtle Beach has always been problematic for the Bikers. There has always been a branch of the area that has not appreciated the bikers coming to the area. That's really nothing new. On A Side Note, one of these years I'm gonna trailer the bike and go to Sturgis The Daddy Rally of All Rallies! See, I learned something new today. Didn't know bikers were a problem in Myrtle.
  14. Coolness! This is exactly what I am looking forward to!
  15. Woofer, the article is talking about Myrltle, not Daytona. Easy mistake. I just brought up Daytona since I was recently there during bike week.
  16. Not that I'm a biker, but, why get rid of that week? It was bike week at Daytona and they didn't seem to be having any problems. Or, is the old stereotype of bikers still prevalant there? You know, that all bikers are dirty, want to start fights and trash everything. It's just not like that any more. And, they want to get rid of the graduates too? Who will be left to spend money there?
  17. I have a legitmate question about the Big Dipper's 50th anniversary. My grandmother is 86 years old and she rode Big Dipper when she was young. How is it that BD is only 50 years old? Anyway, this will be exciting for the park. Gonna try and make it there on the 18th, as a late birthday present to myself.
  18. CF is infinitely better! Better shows, retro entertainment, 1 new and 1 relocated coaster, fixed SOB, and better program on the Crypt. The next thing that I would really like is a Johny Rockets.
  19. Thanks for the advice, Avatar! Sounds like a good idea. I've never been actually out to sea before. We are planning on returning in a couple of years. Next year is going to be a coaster year since she is not able to ride anything this year. Couple that with the new B&M hyper coming and we are talking about a trip to CP for three days and KI for two.
  20. Add me to that list. I would take a Star Wars themed hypercoaster any day!
  21. I agree. If they thought helixes were loops, then it wouldn't be a stretch to think they never even considered elevation changes.
  22. This reminds me of everyone trying to figure out the name of CP's newest coaster before they announced Maverick. Lightning...interesting indeed. Please, no King Kobra name being brought back. I'd rather see The Bat name used again first.
