  1. It's basically torture, which we claim we would never do, according to the Geneva Convention.
  2. If the gate does go up, I don't think it will be THAT much anyway. Shouldn't be enough to make or break a trip. Maybe fuel prices will be more in line next summer and that could offset the difference in ticket price.

Awwwww! These are the memories that I cannot wait to make myself. Sounds like you guys had a great time. Some of my best memories of KI are with my family. Although, I have to admit that my bro and I have had some great memories at KI, CP, and GL in our adulthood. I rode Avatar last two years and I just think it's a blast!
  4. Morning, Interp! I was not aware that Coasterdynamix makes a hypercoaster model. Or, is that a custom job?
  5. I can't agree with waterboarding being done by the U.S. Glad someone is bringing attention to this serious problem.
  6. Cool pics, Dane! Is that a coasterdynamix model? It sure looks like it.
  7. It's lived up to the hype and then some!
  8. If you're thinking vertical as in 90*, you're wrong. No one here has said 90 degrees.
  9. You mean, how you will have a great time in the future. Delorean Rider has the copyrights to any time machines. rofl It did sound like a pretty good time.
  10. I'm sure that they bought the rights to pki.com, that way any wayward traffic could still wind up at the KI homepage instead of somewhere else.
  11. I agree with you. You don't see much positive news these days. Woofer, maybe the news should cover the EMT's and Paramedics and such. Unfortunately, the only way they'll get coverage is if someone dies.
  12. They're really nothing alike at all. SOB, tall and fast. Beast, low to the ground and not as fast.
  13. Really, there was no reason not to tell about the dry park was closing for good. You're probably right. They could have opened a couple more weekends and made a little cash. The problem with one of the metros you mentioned (Cleveland), is that their economy is in the crapper and has been long before the rest of the economy got there. Why would a lot of people drive from Pittsburgh when they have Kennywood which is a lot closer? As far as Akron, Columbus, Canton, and Youngstown go, I don't know enough about them to really try and answer that.

    Must be.

It does sound like you've been having a fantastic trip. Can't wait to see some pics whenever you can get to them.

Including the ride itself I guess. The entire ride moves notably slower...but since it's me and I have a "scewed sense of speed" it must be my imagination that it takes the top-most portion of the ride much slower than it used to (to the point of wondering at times if the ride will crest the hill.) No, a lot of people did not round it up to 60MPH. If the ride always was set for 0-54, then why does the KI website itself say 0-60? The first time I rode FOF this season, I thought it was a mislaunch because it felt like it was not going to crest the hill. It did, but barely. Directly from the visitkingsisland.com website: Flight of Fear Face your darkest fears as you are catapulted from 0-60 mph in just 4 seconds through 4 inversions on the world's first linear induction launch coaster! Named the best new ride by industry experts during it's opening season, don't miss your chance to feel the pulse-pounding excitement this year! I was saying people who don't know the exact launch speed may have said 60mph because it's easier to remember than 54mph. I never said that the ride statisitics stated on KI's website indicated anything. Quote me where I said otherwise. The word is skewed. And just because it barely crests the hill on any given day on any given launch doesn't mean it has been slowed down either. I know that I have seen Dragster barely make it over the hill some launches and other times it makes it over just fine.
  17. Thats Dr. Helbig to you. Would you absolutely die if it was in fact named Beast Slayer?
  18. It does sound like better news. Well, here's to hoping that the situtation gets turned around. I know there are some who don't look upon 6F favorably, but I think we can all agree that if this chain would tank, it would not be in the best interest of us enthusiasts.
  19. And that name was.... Rider...that was hilarious! It's going to be Helbig!
  20. Glad to hear that you had a great time! Skyhawk is my second favorite flat ride next to maXair. I'd love to catch the BMX show.

I would guess that maybe a lot of people just rounded it up to 60mph.
  22. So, downtown Myrtle is no longer happenin'? My, how times have changed. I guess I'll know from here on out to stay in North Myrtle. I would like to see HRP make it. However, with that kind of gate price, no one is going to come beating down their doors.
  23. You'd actually be surprised how far emails, calls, and letters get you with Kings Island. EVERY email that is received with GR feedback is documented along with the park representative's response. Emails are taken seriously and responded to within 24-48 hours. If a guest leaves a phone number, they'll more than likely be called within that time period as well. All complaints made to the 800 number are documented on a shift report and reviewed by management daily. Many people have even been contacted who posted negative things on this web site. People are usually not only happy with the fact that the park responds to their concerns, but also that their concerns are taken seriously. So by all means, drop them an email, call the park directly at 1-800-288-0808, or stop by GR if you have any comments or concerns. They will be heard. Ryan My experience with emails and KI did not go well at all. I tried to contact season pass sales and they never have responded. I was hoping to work something out since my wife got pregnant and we can go, just can't ride a whole lot and we would now be going less times. I can understand if their policy says something to the effect of, well tough. But, no respones whatsoever. At least they could do is contact me and tell me something...even if there's nothing they could do about it.
  24. Even though it hasn't opened yet, I am already hearing grumblings about it being red. Now, you open the new ride which is red, repaint the FOC red, you have Firehawk which is a shade of red, then there would be three total. Not that I really care, as long as the coaster is kick butt.
