  1. They are being removed from what I have seen, Gordon. The Hot Cat building has been destroyed and everything is gone for the Ferris Wheel, including the base. I should have stated earlier that on their web site, there is a new calendar of operating hours for this upcoming season. So, I assume that they will be opening. I sure do hope so as I will be taking my 3yr. old son Trey there this year. He's a little over 3ft., so he'll be able to do everything in their kiddie land this year. I'm thinking he may be able to do the Little Dipper too. On another note, we are already planning a trip for KI in the first or second Friday of May. My hopes are that Ohio schools are still in at that time so that we can beat the crowds a little. It's going to be a great family trip...My wife and I, our son, and my step-son are going. My step-son turned 12 this year and he has reached a height that will allow him to ride most of the larger coasters this year. He is a bit on the small side, so this is very exciting for him. We are planning on spending a lot of time in the new Snoopy kids' section, but we are going to take turns splitting up and taking the older one on the big boy coasters. You should see the look in his eyes when we talk about it. It sure reminds me of that same time in my life when I could finally ride Racers and The Beast. Also told my wife that as cheesy as it is, I am going to get the whole family matching Beast shirts to get photographed in.
  2. I love the show. I haven't had any personal experiences, but my sister has had one. She and some friends held a seance at Chesapeake Middle or High School (can't remember which she said) and she said that the group saw the apparition of an old Native American Woman. I have heard that there's an old Native American burial ground nearby the middle or high school.
  3. Does anyone on here know what is going on at Camden Park this year? I've been driving by the last couple of weeks and first, I noticed that they completely removed the Ferris Wheel. When I went by yesterday, they were in the process of tearing out the Hot Cat. It has been rumored locally that supposedly Wal-Mart wanted to buy them out.
  4. I liked PT too, but I would much rather see another dark ride put in. Something much more frightening and not intended to be in the kiddie section of the park. It's been sooo long since I've been on a dark ride that actually surprised and/or scared me. Then again, I really like being scared.
  5. He was in the short 5 minute type cartoons. I have such fond memories of watching tons of Hanna-Barbera cartoons on WTTV back in the day. Kids of today really missed out not being able to sit down every day to watch cartoons with a host who introduced the cartoons...read letters from the viewers... My favorite was Cowboy Bob at lunch-time...there was also Janie in the mornings before school. Good times. (Which I am guessing Avatar, IndyGuy4KI 7 many others on here can attest too.) Growing up, I watched Mr. Cartoon on WSAZ out of Huntington, WV. I don't think he showed any H-B cartoons. I remember seeing lot of Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Popeye, and Mighty Mouse on his show. Fond memories. I grew up in Huntington too. I now live across the river in Proctorville. I loved Mr. Cartoon. My uncle, who owns Magic Makers Costumes, remade "Beeper" costume, when it needed updating. For those who do not know, Beeper was a mascot character in the vain of the Banana Splits. I wish I had a photo to share. He's not your uncle...he's mine! LOL! This dude is actually my brother... I remember the two of us joking in the parking lot at Wal-Mart (before they had their parking numbered) about being parked in Scooby Doo 7. Love these pics...brings back great memories of spending time at KI with my bro and uncle riding Der Spinnin Keggers, the Bayern Curve, and other classics.
  6. Thank you for the clarification. Can't hardly keep up any more. Got a nearly 3 year old to contend with. Lots of fun! The magic of Christmas is back for me! Sorry for the off-topic comments.
  7. No kidding. Not much like his daddy at all. Seems like they only tried to duplicate some of the roughness. I enjoyed SOB, but it's nothing like the original. No tunnels, no terrain.
  8. I signed up too. Good luck everyone!
  9. That's pretty awesome for this chain. Wonder if CF could do anything like this? Might help with their outlook.
  10. This looks like another great addition for Dollywood. I really want to take my 3 year old son to KI because of the great kids' area, but I'm starting to lean towards DW. Is there enough to do for a child his age who is 3ft. tall there?
  11. I could see myself riding this one! A little danger makes it more appealing to me.
  12. I really liked Son of Beast in its' original layout with the loop. The new transition was lacking and I'm not really sure what else could have been done there. However, I did like the newer trains over the older ones. Whatever is done with it, I'm sure it will be in the best interest for KI.
  13. Sorry, I should have clarified. I meant, is there any food that is can't miss.
  14. I would think that if they want to make it a separate gate, there would have to be some kind of accomodations added to make that more viable. Glad to see the waterpark getting some upgrades and additions. My last trip to Geauga Lake when the rides were still there included a day at the waterpark. I hadn't had so much fun in years. I had truly forgotten just how much fun they can be.
  15. I think this ride looks really cool and this gives me one more reason to finally give in and make a trip to Dollywood. I'm just disappointed that there isn't any ride animation on the site. Most every time something new goes in at a park, there's always 2-3 videos to give you an idea of what it will be like. I hear the entertainment is excellent as well. How's the food there? Anything that is can't miss?
  16. I can relate to those who miss Paramount, although I never really liked Paramount all that well. I miss the days long before PKI when the children's area was Hanna-Barberra Land. Things are always changing and always will...I thought Paramount did some things well and then did some things horribly as well. Whomever owns KI and the other parks in the chain will never be able to satisfy everyone, so you have to go with the majority or your target market.
  17. It was...and quite thrilling too. Never thought it was that rough IMO. They do need to make a decision though. As much as I'd like it to stay around, it seems Son of Beast has cost the company more than they would like already, so I see it torn down before rebuilt into something else.
  18. My brother rode it and seemed to really enjoy it. We are both coaster freaks and this satisfied him, so I imagine I would like it as well.
  19. What a shame. Camden holds many great memories for me as well. Going to take my 2 1/2 year old there this year. The rides that he can ride all seem to be in relatively good shape. Can't believe he's already 35 inches tall. One more inch by next summer will mean a trip to KI. What's the height requirement for the Little Dipper?
  20. I wrote more, but it seems it didn't send to you. Will have to try again later. A quick update, my son is 2 and I'll be 40 this year. Going to start up a new band. That's what the other post is about. Getting together with a guy I knew from the 90's when I was in a death metal band.

  21. I ran into this drummer that I knew from those days and we are getting together to do something new. Should be interesting. Oh, and my son already has his first coaster credit he got at Myrtle Beach last summer.

    Take Care,

    Brian

  22. Not sure I agree with voting on whether or not to keep SOB, but I distinctly remember watching some coaster specials on tv referring to the days of old when woodies were not really that safe. I think it was the Crystal Beach Cyclone that had a full-time nurse on duty at the exit. And, it seemed that the more dangerous the coaster was, the more people wanted to ride them because it was a sort of bragging right to have survived riding said coasters. Just a thought.
  23. Those are some great photos from the herald-dispatch. Still haven't made it there in quite a while. Probably won't look to go until next year. In school currently and find it hard to find time to do anything extra at this time.
  24. At first, I thought this ride looked boring. But, at 300 ft., it would be intimidating to say the least.
