  1. This is a great trip report. I saw the thread title and I was like, what? I thought maybe there is a Chuck E. Cheese near KI or something and he went there before heading over to KI, which is insane considering KI has La Rosa's. One thing that concerned me. Where are all the ride ops? Chuck cares nothing for rider safety. At least have an automated spiel. And no height requirement signs either? What's with that mouse?
  2. Yes, that would be the one. I only remember riding this huge ferris wheel, which terrifies me still. I can handle 400ft coasters, but get me on a dropping ride, ferris wheel, or skyline and I freeze up.
  3. Very good points KI Guy. I myself have only been to four amusement parks. 3 large scale: Kings Island, Cedar Point, Geauga Lake. 1 small scale: Camden Park. All of those are what I call local to me. Although, now I think about it, I went a very few times to the old Myrtle Beach Pavilion when vacationing with my family there and one other park down that way that I can't remember the name of. It may still be there.
  4. SF overexpansion lead to its' demise, ruin, however you want to word it. And there's no saying that current management would have been interested in downsizing it either. I can't imagine that locals would be too excited over that either. Instead of protesting or save Geauga Lake campaigns, you would be having discussions more like Michigan's Adventure, where people would say how they were screwed by removing a majority of their rides which would later turn in to a gripe fest about how they never install anything at GL.
  5. Where's John Conner when you need him? Great pic Thrill Biscuit!
  6. And Conneaut Lake is in the midst of a comeback is what I heard. I liked Geauga Lake. But, I can see where SF basically ruined that park. Pretty much, when it was acquired, it was destined to be closed down.
  7. Or, maybe they are working courtesy of Skynet?
  8. Awesome pic! Would love to see some more shots of Ki, exclusively brought to you by Drone, Inc.
  9. I've heard parking garages mentioned before. Anyone think that may be a viable idea?
  10. I prefer the back row on Vortex. I love the way you get whipped around the loops and over the first drop.
  11. Next headline...Halloween is Dangerous! Prayers to the family.
  12. But, I thought they were asking for the tax benefits for the Ark Encounter, not AIG. I am a little confused. Are these two separate business entities?
  13. After running the CF chain for a few years now, it seems most everything is on the up and up. I won't be going back until the 2015 season to see how everything has come along. Come to think of it, I haven't even been to KI or CP under Ouimet's reign. Should be an interesting trip.
  14. If AIG is doing the hiring and not Ark Encounter, then as a non-profit religious organization, they can put stipulations in their hiring practices like as were mentioned.
  15. ^Yeah, what are they trying to do by not washing their hands, spread Ebola virus around or something? Looks like harmless fun to me.
  16. Interpreter works for Area 51, so no pics of spacecraft allowed or video for that matter. Aliens don't like being videoed or photographed. I'll stick to my old dinosaur desktop for now.
  17. I'm really digging the new color scheme. That's a great looking coaster. Once they change to floorless, it will be much more fun to ride.
  18. Not to be outdone by the phrase "Because I said so" Thanks to all who looked up the number of rides Vortex had given. 40+ million is awesome and if I'm remembering correctly, there haven't been downtime issues much to be spoken of.
  19. Out of curiosity, I was wondering how many rides Vortex has given over its' lifetime?
  20. I'd like something to go in the old Son of Beast spot first.
  21. Cool article. I guess someone has to be professional roller coaster painters. Not a bad job.
  22. I believe it was random. Don't recall that there ever was an assigned side to do one or the other. I suppose it was based on whomever started it.
  23. The Vortex has to be "tired" after all those laps. I hope they don't retire Vortex any time soon. But, I have no inside information as to its' upkeep costs or popularity because I'm not basing any of my opinion on the matter from what I have observed. What I have observed is a small portion of what actually happens throughout an entire season or even over its' lifetime (since I've been around that long), so I can't say with any authority any of the details that we are discussing here. And unless you are someone who has that kind of info, than all 8 pages are simple guesses made from observations...groundbreaking.
