  1. I'm hoping for floorless trains on Mantis too. I enjoyed it for a while, because the only stand-up coaster I had been on was King Kobra. B&M took the concept and ran with it. But now, I'm over the novelty of it and I would like to see it become a more enjoyable experience. Plus, if it gets new trains and a re-paint, that's marketing heaven.
  2. Looks like a cool coaster. I know that the Son of Beast didn't turn out to be a really good coaster, but I give them credit for trying to push the envelope. On paper, I'm sure all of these ideas sounded really good. It had two helixes, which is what made The Beast really popular. It had height, which at the time, many parks were racing to build the highest coaster. It had a loop, which was huge and you just didn't see wood coasters with loops. Also, it had that high bank turn after the first drop, which is something that has been done more successfully as of recent. I guess what it all boils down to is other coaster manufacturers learned a lot from the mistakes made in the design and building of Son of Beast. Oh, and I also forgot that The Beast name was used in hopes that by using a variance on the name of the original at the park, it would bolster a lot of interest in the ride.
  3. I would say after the accident at Cedar Point, Intamin has to figure out a way to regain their customers' trust and confidence. Has El Toro had problems? I haven't really been around any message boards for quite some time, so I'm out of the "loop".
  4. The one that I would vote for which is not an option would be wood coaster like El Toro installed at KI.
  5. I agree with APE on that one. I figure all the "enthusiasts" will be up in arms over these installations. On a side note, these mega loop installations got me to thinking. This would be a good installation at Camden Park. I'll go ahead and call it a coaster because it has a coaster train even though it's not full circuit. (See Superman SFMM). I would also note that the Demon at KI really wasn't much more than this ride save for the two towers.
  6. I happen to like the S&S towers. And from what I have seen, so does the GP. I think that the Super Loopers, or whatever they are called, are good, cheap installations. A few of these parks installing them may be getting what enthusiasts would call "legitimate" additions in the following year. I've been on one of the smaller ones at either the Jackson Apple Festival or the Pumpkin Festival in Milton when I was in the high school band. I took my girlfriend on that ride and she was so terrified, that she began to cry once we got going. I had to keep telling her that it wasn't that bad. I had been on more intense coasters at KI and that was back in the 80's. I had probably been on Vortex and Beast by that time. So, even though it seemed a little on the tame side to me, she was scared senseless. I thought it was fun, but not terrifying.
  7. I agree that corkscrew is still a fun coaster. I think that it's a nice transitional coaster for the younger ones not quite ready for the many bad boys that are all over CP. I used to really enjoy the Wildcat as well. It was a fun family coaster.
  8. I guess there's no need to dust when you're in the dark, LOL.
  9. I liked the video. Some of the stuff on there I already knew. A good bit that I didn't know was on there too. LOL at the no bumping in bumper cars. Next rule: No screaming on roller coasters or thrill rides.
  10. I don't know all there is to know on the subject, but I do happen to know that non-profit Christian organizations have the right to refuse employment due to sexual orientation, as long as they don't accept federal government assistance. Meaning, your funds have to come from private donations.
  11. I really need to make it to Kings Dominion. They have an awesome collection of rides and now a great expansion to their water park that sounds really thrilling.
  12. I would like so see an Intamin plug-n-play wood coaster myself. I hear El Toro is a good one.
  13. Looks like an awesome coaster. Now, if we can only get one of these at KI...
  14. I like the color of the track and the name. Great addition for Carowinds. Another type of coaster I wouldn't mind seeing at KI.
  15. Looks like fun to me. Wouldn't mind KI getting something like it. Another coaster that families can do.
  16. ^You mean Carowinds, right?
  17. I had to do a Google search of ALS because I wasn't sure what it was. I've always known it as Lou Gherig's disease. As far as I know, LG's disease is something I have heard about for years. Maybe why this is why it seems new to a lot of people.
  18. I'm all for this. I really want to check out the Creation Museum at least once in my life. I laugh at all the comments about how it won't compete with Kings Island. From the sound of it, it's not supposed to. Totally different experience.
  19. I would agree that this article accurately describes Cedar Point for what it is, a great amusement park. I haven't been there in a few years, since Maverick opened. I may have to get up that way next summer. But first, got to take my son to Kings Island and Great Wolf Lodge.
  20. Saw the video of this in action over at Coasterbuzz. This looks like a very fun ride that can be shared by families. I'm beginning to look for those kinds of rides when I think of going to any park.
  21. I hope it does increase in ridership. I like The Bat even though the industry has really taken off in terms of what can be done. I love the new paint job and name. Brings back some great memories of the original coaster which I was fortunate enough to ride. It was definitely a wild ride as I remember it. I would venture to say it had the coolest cars ever.
  22. Yeah, I hope that you didn't think that I was implying that the subject title was misleading. I was just saying that is what popped in my head when I read the title. I would have to agree with you that today's manufacturers would be able to build those same coasters safely and successfully. On a side note, I remember watching a coaster program on the history of roller coasters and they mentioned one (can't remember the name) that had a full-time nurse at the station. It had a nasty reputation. I'm thinking the Crystal Beach Cyclone may have been the one. The show also mentioned that as some of these older coasters, as they got bad reputations for injury made them all the more popular. It was kind of like you survived riding.
  23. I thought this topic was about coasters ahead of their time. This was more about unsuccessful coasters that pushed the limits too far. When I saw the title of this topic, I was thinking more along the lines of something like The Bat. It was ahead of its' time in the fact it was the first and was only unsuccessful due to no banking on the tracks, not due to injury and death. The first two sound really dangerous.
  24. I'm really liking the Banshee logo, which I voted for. The Beast would be a close second.
