Interpreter works for Area 51, so no pics of spacecraft allowed or video for that matter. Aliens don't like being videoed or photographed. I'll stick to my old dinosaur desktop for now.

I'm really digging the new color scheme. That's a great looking coaster. Once they change to floorless, it will be much more fun to ride.

Not to be outdone by the phrase "Because I said so" Thanks to all who looked up the number of rides Vortex had given. 40+ million is awesome and if I'm remembering correctly, there haven't been downtime issues much to be spoken of.

Out of curiosity, I was wondering how many rides Vortex has given over its' lifetime?

I'd like something to go in the old Son of Beast spot first.

I believe it was random. Don't recall that there ever was an assigned side to do one or the other. I suppose it was based on whomever started it.

The Vortex has to be "tired" after all those laps. I hope they don't retire Vortex any time soon. But, I have no inside information as to its' upkeep costs or popularity because I'm not basing any of my opinion on the matter from what I have observed. What I have observed is a small portion of what actually happens throughout an entire season or even over its' lifetime (since I've been around that long), so I can't say with any authority any of the details that we are discussing here. And unless you are someone who has that kind of info, than all 8 pages are simple guesses made from observations...groundbreaking.

That was an awesome video. Makes me wish I knew where to find that video my uncle made in the late 70's or early 80's of his ride on The Racer. Also taped some of the fireworks too.

Personally, I stopped counting coasters years ago. Since my son Trey came along, it's more about overall park experience and the rides we can do together. There's nothing like enjoying rides together, coaster or not.

Yes to Beast standing trains. Yes to Mantis going from standing to floorless. Never heard of non-swinging trains. Of course, never heard of wood coaster standing trains either. One word, "Ouch"

I should have made myself more clear. I wasn't really referring to the locals either. I'm talking about the patrons who come to the park maybe once a season or a couple of times. Those people will probably never know.

I agree Ryan. Mostly, the only people who notice that ride A is located in park B is pretty much the enthusiasts. The GP just sees coasters and other rides and says, "Let's go!" They probably don't even realize that some of the rides they saw in the commercials weren't there.

I still love the first drop on Vortex. It always gets me right in the gut. Not too many coasters do that to me any more.

Hotel Breakers looks like it may now be worth the money that they are asking to stay there. I only paid because it was convenient to walk to the back gate.

I've seen a few enthusiasts who have said it sounds like something Scooby Doo would say. I can't wait to get back there and ride it. The only floorless I've been on is Dominator. I'm wondering if Mantis will have that kind of crazy speed or if the trim on the first hill will even be necessary.

I don't see why B&M couldn't make something like Maverick. All of the technology used in Maverick is something that B&M already does or is working on; i.e. a launch. Other than that, I can't think of anything else that Maverick utilizes that B&M can't replicate.

I didn't really hear anything about Bulldozers for KK for 2015. Twas sarcasm.

New for KK in 2015...bulldozers. Also stated in another thread, but this one seems more relevant.

I think I hear something coming to Kentucky Kingdom for 2015. Bulldozers! It will be interesting to see what KI has in store for the 2015 season. I, for one, am very excited for the announcement since I will be making it up there next summer with my son for his first trip ever.
