How much Longer does Racer and Beast have before they break down?
Magenta Lizard replied to Xdog42's topic in Kings Island
During one of The Beast tours I was on, Don Helbig mentioned something like 90-some percent of the wood is still the original, too. It's got a really long potential lifespan with proper maintenance. I don't foresee it going anywhere for a long time. Racer on the other hand, for reasons I don't like to publicize, I'm not as sure about. If it is repainted in the next five years, I have much more hope it will be around indefinitely. -
Even if we have an agreement here, it would probably still be hard to avoid if you have any enthusiast friends on Facebook or follow any industry social media. But, I'd be perfectly willing to spoiler tag any of my own references until things are commonly known.

Kings Island 2017 Discussion Thread
Magenta Lizard replied to Magenta Lizard's topic in Kings Island
I asked Don Helbig about it closing weekend, and he said there will not be a blanket invitation for coaster clubs to Mr. T's media day like there apparently was for Banshee's. He did say there will/may be opportunities to win an invite before then though. I'm betting on Twitter and possibly Snapchat contests. -
When it's "only" 120 days until the park opens (probably).

Friday is the 14th next year. I do think the park will be opening on the 15th (Saturday) though. With a preview on Friday I hope. -

Crap, you're right. I'm looking at 2016's calendar in there. Nevermind! -

Sorry to steal your thunder I already have an update tho. Just checked the app, and we do have official word: the park opens to the public April 16th, 2017. 122 days. I'm betting on a preview for passholders on the 15th. -
I know it's not quite 2017, but Kings Island posted on Facebook today that Soak City will be opening in 163 days. That means it will be opening May 27, 2017. No official word yet on when the park itself will open, but we're down to a likely 120-130 days.

I went through my closet to fold and put away my coaster and theme park t-shirts, so I could hang up winter things instead. I have at least 32 t-shirts (I /think/ only two are already folded up and put away with my Halloween stuff), and three tank tops. Which may not sound like a lot unless you realize nearly all of them were acquired starting in 2014. They also were almost all bought off the $5 rack at Coney Confections, or I got them free. It made me feel good seeing them all and thinking about when I'll be wearing them again and buying more.

It's a legitimate rumor at that point, although unlikely to be legitimate information

Gosh, I really hope so. I wish for that area to become anything associated with the park (heck, even overflow parking), far over anything /not/ associated with the park. I especially have worried over the plans they had (have?) to make it apartments. Letting that land go was a big mistake I hope will ultimately be rectified.

It still has the mark http://www.trademarkia.com/amusement-dark-85883354.html I do like the name, I wish they would start using it somehow.

In one way I'm a little resistant to the name Demon Drop (it having been a very different kind of ride), but then again anything would be better than the hyper-generic name Drop Tower.

KIC Off Season Poll Series 2016 Week IV: COASTERSTOCK 2017 Predictions
Magenta Lizard replied to BB1's topic in KI Polls
Last year and this year, I have had so much fun at Coasterstock! The first year, I didn't know anyone very well yet, but this year getting to enjoy it with friends made it even better. I have no idea what Coasterstock III will have in store, but I have no doubt it will be unforgettable. I want to get some "behind the scenes" touring of Mr. T but I won't be broken up if it is impossible. The first year I was a little hesitant to do the event. After all, I had a season pass and went to the park every week. This year, twice a week. I still thoroughly enjoyed Coasterstock and would not dream of missing the next one. I seriously have been looking forward to the next one as soon as the previous one was over (maybe once I got a full night's sleep anyway ). It is well worth the money (which is really minimal for everything you get). -
I want Cedar Downs but I can't think of anything at KI I'd be willing to give up that CP would want. Maybe they'd take Firehawk?
-
I'm super excited!

First I dream-predicted Winterfest, now this!https://www.facebook.com/AmericanCoasterEnthusiasts/photos/a.10150090246943145.268684.33053518144/10154449984213145/?type=3 But, don't do it to Vortex! Or maybe do! But it would kill capacity

Roaming entertainment. I thought they were moving in the right direction with the KI Paint Department (improvisational drummers), and the KI Five (Dixieland Jazz band). But in 2016 the drummers were gone as far as I can tell from 60-some visits, and I only caught the KI Five a handful of times throughout the whole year. It's possible they were weekend-only this year (when I usually don't go), which I think is a mistake because a heavily crowded park is when roaming entertainment becomes more of a roadblock than a fun diversion.

Beach Mountain to Open for 3rd Season
Magenta Lizard replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
What was the prior pricing structure? I found that confusing as well. "For the first time ever, general admission passes will allow you to play all day for only $19.99 per person." Were you previously not able to get a full day pass? Was it just a different price? I don't understand what part is "the first time ever." -
Just wanted to note that we're now a little under five months until opening day, assuming a mid-April open.
