They pick from the same area each time. I chose to sit there, to try to get picked. I'm concerned one of the "gnomes" hurt himself at the 5:00. He kind of took the tramp wall to his chest, when he was a little too low to get back on it. He continued for a little bit, kinda rubbing where he hit, then went off stage and didn't come out for bows. I hope it isn't serious He is the one I've come to think of as "Suspenders": the one who counts the balls out while "Pilot Smurf" juggles.

I have been. Even the one "gnome" who had been a little more subdued previously is really starting to get into it and show his own distinct personality. I had a ton of fun on stage with them! But yeah, lack of documentation can be a good thing sometimes too. I probably would have been a bit more reserved if I knew someone I know was watching.

If anyone else happened to be at today's 3:00 showing and got pics of the weird middle aged lady with pigtails who got on stage during the painting scene, I'd love to see them The perils of visiting the park solo, no documentation sometimes.

Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees
Magenta Lizard replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
The actual WWC experience seems unchanged. If anything, I got a little less wet than usual. TB wasn't manning the tubes when I went through. -
During the train tour, Engineer Steve showed a picture from one of the employee yearbooks from the late 70s. I couldn't see it very well from my position, but I realized that I owned a copy of either that year or a close one (I bought a couple of the yearbooks on eBay awhile ago). I finally looked through my '78 employee yearbook for the KI&MV train crew, and I believe that is him, second from the right:

Huh. I have really been listening for you while at the park, and other than the one I mentioned previously, I haven't run into something like you described. I will continue to be vigilant. If you know who I am and want to hum it to me, I would be willing to give that a go, too. But, I don't know the names of a lot of current songs without help, either. I know how maddening it is to get a song stuck in your head - and often, listening to it again is the only way to get it out.

Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees

Well, I know I'll be keeping my eyes open again at the park Wednesday. Since it's supposed to be 90 degrees, I'll likely ride WWC again, too. I mean to watch the surrounding areas a little bit more while actually on the ride this time than when I rode it yesterday. I can't take pics, obviously, but I'll let you know if I see anything interesting. And I'll take a look near the hammerhead of DB. I have been watching when I ride, and haven't noticed anything yet, but I'll make a special effort. I like the idea of the kitty meaning a wild mouse coaster electricsun. I don't think it's likely, but I would embrace it wholeheartedly! -

Well, if you go to the right of this picture there are no unmarked trees (or marked ones), or anything else that would need clearance, just the two queue lines. And if you turn around and look behind you from where I was standing, you more or less see this: which is a wide area mostly already cleared, and the trees that remain have green spray painted markings too. So that area, at least, I would say it is enough room to not be able to make any assumptions about wood or steel. Maddening, right? -

Whew. I was worried new pictures and descriptions of the destruction area and a tweet directly concerning project 2017 from the park was going to distract the decoding thread from its important job of discussing Cedar Point! I'm glad that didn't happen! I'm very curious about the reservoir seemingly being a nexus of the "paths" that we've seen. There are the "set pile" markers along the (tiny) gorge just next to the reservoir and train tracks, and then the trees either knocked down or marked for it on the other side of the reservoir near the turntable. Maybe my husband is right and this is going to be a new water ride of some sort. I'm also curious about Engineer Steve's comment during the train tour about the train having a different experience next year. But, that could go along with nearly anything, flat ride, water ride, or coaster. Heck, it already has a somewhat different experience with the new crossing. -
^apparently you should follow KI on Snapchat too, because a lucky handful of people today got a Beast tour offered through it.

Awwww https://twitter.com/kingsislandpr/status/737399565670862853 Lumberjack kitten. If there's destruction, a feline is probably involved! I think it's DonKIPR's way of throwing us a bone about the recent 17/18 question. I never doubted '17, just what it will be, personally. -
Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees
Magenta Lizard replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
I was just looking at my pictures some more, and thinking. The thing I find most interesting are the trees marked in between the entrance and exit queues, just before the stairs that take the entrance queue over the exit, to the turntable. All of these^ Now why would those be going? The queues for WWC appear to be rerouted comfortably, and finished. They are unlikely to run antique cars directly through a queue line for another ride... If something was going underground, they would likely have worked on it before finishing the queue, and it could probably be done without wiping out that whole copse of trees. Something has to be going /over/ the WWC queue here, between the reservoir and the path of the former queue. Not saying it's a coaster but, it's probably a coaster -
Yes, I will get the list together soon, and post it once I have. Only about halfway through forwarding myself the songs from Shazam did I think to put a note which act they were from. I mostly know, I think. (Edit: going back through the list, I'm not certain some of these picked up correct music after listening the samples, I am going to need to put in some more time and probably more shows to this). The ukulele interstitials are definitely "Ask a Muppet" by Yosef Vahid Qualls tho, I know people are probably dying to buy that one I was looking at Productions Haute-Vol's Facebook page to see if I could find any names to put with faces/acts (the Hand2Hand performers are identified there) and I found an intriguing post. About a week before Origins opened, they said "We are presently looking for an acrobatic duo act on short notice, please contact us if you would be interested and are available for the summer season". I wonder if it was/is for Origins? The sort-of disjointed nature many of us noticed about the show may be due to a last minute change.

I genuinely thought it was going to be more obvious to people, although it is a little comforting I'm not the only one who doesn't have a clue what 3' OFF B/C means*. I'm also a little curious about the PVC pipe seen in one of those photos. It's a decent sized one. * marking three feet from where the (cow)Boy Coaster track will go? -

Ok, so does anyone have any suggestions of what "3' OFF B/C" means? Check my post on the last page if you missed it. -

So back to actual info instead of sniping, griping, and discussing other parks There are a lot of trees marked for destruction in between the reservoir and the old path (near the pay tubes) These were all marked green on their other side. Also, a couple markers near the new entrance path This one is next to the reservoir. -
I caught all three showings today, and it is really growing on me. I Shazamed the music, and was able to ID everything but the trapeze/trampoline part. My favorites are Valse des Marionettes by Ella Louise Allaire, during the lamppost climbing scene, and The Machine (Red-Eye Remix) by Chris Bohn, during Hand2Hand. The performers this year really show their distinctive personalities, right from the beginning. I need to learn their real names to avoid using terms like "tattooed gnome" and "pilot smurf" in my head . The only name I've picked up is one of the monkey/lizards, that I thought was being called Mika before, possibly is called Paco. As often as it is repeated, I should know, but I'm not 100%.

I know what you mean about the abruptness of the ending. I intended to give them a standing ovation, but there wasn't really a chance. A nondescript "ending", then doors were opened and house lights came up before most people really knew what was happening.

It's been noticed, and good catch. However, it is covered in the areas where it is already very close to a coaster: Diamondback. Not saying it's impossible a different coaster may be going through there soon, but it's no proof either. And welcome to KIC! -

When I said I was thinking Antique Cars, I was referring to the current construction/destruction in Rivertown not readily relatable to WWC. Do I think that KI would start teasing at the beginning of the season for a return of the 'tiques? Not really. But then again I wouldn't have expected them to make as much of a to-do about parking tolls as they did (although I do like the new tolls). I also would have expected heavy teasing at an event like Coasterstock if the prep work for a new coaster was currently happening in the park. My only "evidence" for my feeling is that is what the current cleared paths and markers for further work looks like to me, the strong movement toward nostalgia (including the return of the floral tunnel! Yay!), and antique cars are one of the things I often hear people wishing would return to the park. The only thing I hear more often (from non-enthusiasts) is about recaR. -
Has anyone heard yet what day will be the day off? The website hasn't yet been updated with show times, and I'd be really disappointed if I go this week on their day off. A pic from the preview: I think there is a small chance one of the performers from last year's show has returned. One of the monkey/lizards kept saying to the other one what sounded like "Mika", possibly Michael? The one he was talking to does look like he could be Mike's form and height (their suits are oddly padded, and they're heavily made up so it makes it a little difficult).
-
I agree, this is one of those elegant solutions that when you see it, it feels so natural and obvious. Protects lines from falling objects, protects views from ugly netting, brings back something many people have been nostalgic for, offers cooling shade to the line. It's genius!
-
Yes, the new tunnels are both entrance and exit. I could see from the train yesterday evening that the paths split off just beyond the second tunnel, and there were signs saying which was which. I have no idea about the pay tubes, hopefully they are still off the exit path. There were also trash cans along the path, and ride ops back in their positions, getting ready for today's open. The only thing that wasn't ready yet was that the ride itself was still drained as of that time (about 8:30 PM).

Good point about the chain-wide thing. I hadn't even thought that deeply about it. My current feeling is that antique cars are coming back. My husband (who knows very little of the history or rumors) and I have a bet on what is coming. He thinks it will be a new, larger log flume. My side of the bet is for a coaster even though I'm back to kinda thinking it isn't a coaster again.
