Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees
Magenta Lizard replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
Just finally rode the train today (last one of the night). Was going to around 1, but they were evacuating Soak City since the storm closed it temporarily and they requested only those people who needed to go to SC (cars, lockers) to ride the train. So, I noticed they finally started cutting down trees on the right side of the train just before the currently unused Haunt station. They've been marked green for removal since the markers first went up, so it's not a surprise. They hadn't started in that area yet when I rode last Wednesday tho. -
Good news!! I noticed this cart had a pic of frozen bananas so I asked $4 ($3.60 after season pass discount) Yummy! And at only around 200 calories, it's a great frozen treat!

I've taken one of those string backpacks with my shoes (change to sandals) and stuff in a big plastic bag inside. More than once this season, nobody said anything.

More clearing back toward the train station. Pictures taken from the WWC queue between the floral tunnels. -
The one thing I don't like about Diamondback

Backlot at KI has no seatbelts currently. The only belts that really bothered me were on the Gliders before they banned snapping (don't bother me now because I haven't ridden since then). I don't like needing to wait to be let out, even though it is a good idea for the kiddies I guess. -

Actually, at that time I first mentioned it, it was the wildest of speculation to get things rolling, rather than any actual detective work. Something I noticed that I thought interesting enough to mention, but I didn't seriously think it was intentionally a clue. I'm surprised it came to be anything, but accidental or not, the whole Tin Man, Tin Woodsman, Lumberjack thing seems pertinent. Too bad my two tulips were dead about a week after I mentioned them... but maybe that was a conspiracy. The two lips didn't know when to stay shut! -
I feel like I should mention the multiple times I've seen people driving up into the courtyard in front of the gates (once all the way up to the gate), because there are no bollards between the parking lots and walkways... I don't really mind the security checkpoints all that much, although I think their billable hours could be much more effectively used. I feel more in danger from people who shouldn't be behind the wheel but are without specific malice, than I am from anyone wishing me harm.

Well, as long as he wasn't intoxicated too. Fifteen year olds can be a lot more responsible than they are given credit for. Probably the distraction of his drunken parents was more dangerous than his speeding. That speed sounds more like what one often needs to drive to not have other drivers dangerously changing lanes around one in annoyance on Ohio interstates.

I believe Chuck was talking about seeing a pic of a chocolate covered frozen banana on the window of one of the stands at KI.

That's the question tho: do they? Obviously, they need to have the complete schematic to actually build the coaster, but I'm not so certain that the entire plans need to be submitted to the city. -

This is another interesting search: http://www.trademarkia.com/trademarks-search.aspx?tn=&fs=01/01/1960&fe=06/30/2016&pri=&gs=Amusement%20park&cn=&st=2 If it copied right, it includes things that are registered with "amusement park" in the description. -
Mmmmm. I can honestly say I haven't seen them at the park, but I'm hoping it is one of those things I've just missed. I love chocolate covered frozen bananas!

This is a start: http://www.trademarkia.com/company-cedar-fair-lp-222594-page-1-2 Nope, nothing new. There is also a company page for KI specifically, but Banshee, which is now there (I think), was originally registered under Cedar Fair. I've also been specifically looking for trademarks of "Lumberjack", "Timberjack", "Woodsman", and others, but haven't found anything of note. I think CF may have gotten good enough that we won't know the name until they announce it. -

GavPenn, I don't hate you and I'm not going for your blood. You asked for an evaluation of your trustworthiness and I gave it, specifically citing your behavior in this thread. What you have posted is all any of us know of you, and like it or not, my three scenarios are what I've taken home from all of your posts in the thread. This is a place that welcomes wild (or tame) speculation. It welcomes verifiable information. However, as made abundantly clear by the ToS, it does not welcome people coming to say "I /know/ this but I can't tell you how I know it." I'm sorry you couldn't enjoy participating in the thread without engaging in that behavior. -

If information is reliable, it is repeatable. You (or others) would be able to go to the park and see for yourself. Walk into Mason City Center and get copies of the plans. Look at the news sites to see what the park has sent them. Information that comes from a single source, which can't or won't reveal how to confirm the knowledge, is much more suspect. That goes for pretty much every part of life, not just this thread or these forums. -

Yeah, I generally do leave the ToS enforcement up to the moderators. GavPenn specifically asked when he had been untrustworthy (or claimed not to have been, I forget, and he has since edited the post) and I was referencing his ToS violations in addition to his disrespect of his source. Your "devil's advocating" for him having some special relationship with his source, their not giving a crap or actually encouraging some random guy who has pretty much not ever posted about anything other than how much he knows but can't tell us about, doesn't account for that part. So let me make it extremely clear so you don't feel the need to advocate on single parts while ignoring the whole. One of the following cases applies: 1. He is untrustworthy for sharing information that he doesn't have permission to share. 2. He is untrustworthy for sharing information that he has implied or explicit permission to share from the source, but is doing so in violation of this forum's explicit rules that require identifying sources, that he agreed to when he created his account and has been reminded of. 3. He is untrustworthy because he is out and out lying about having any special information, and is making the same educated guesses the rest of us are making, while the rest of us are honest where our information comes from (eyes at the park, plans from Mason, etc). -

Read again about the /forum's/ ToS, devil's advocate. KIC's rules don't agree with anonymous leaks. -

Ah, I was wondering what the utimate source was for that 3D rendering of the layout. Relieved it is basically fan fiction, because I didn't much like the looks of it. Btw, when I have had "insider" info (not on this specific subject, but occasionally I have learned things that weren't ready to be public) I wouldn't post about it or tell it to others. If I were an insider myself, and learned someone I knew was claiming to have insider info (either dangling it or outright sharing it), whether or not they outed me as the source, I would no longer discuss anything with them. Basically, GavPenn: either you do have insider information and you are disrespecting both your source (by sharing that info) and the rules of this board (by not naming the source of your info) or you are lying. Either way, yes, you have proved yourself to not be trustworthy. -

Well, to be fair, more than one train spieler has been saying approximately that ("Over there is where they're rebuilding Son of Beast.") On one of my recent rides, a group of teenage girls behind me weren't really listening to the spiel but the mention of SoB perked their ears, and they started trying to get him to repeat what he said. I turned and told them what he had said but explained he was kidding. That there may be a new coaster but they aren't rebuilding SoB, and that either way, the spieler was making a joke. -

Was that you that left to go ride Flying Ace when I mentioned it was open? Has anyone got/seen an upload of the interview today? Or know if it will be replayed? I am at the park so I couldn't record it. -
I remember it. I don't have any recordings tho.

I'm thinking I might not be crazy thinking the name on the Tin Man boat by DB was painted darker after I first noticed it. I think maybe my wild speculation may be a real hint at this point. Laying my odds on Lumberjack for a name at this point, but no proof. -

How long before the Banshee announcement were the combs sent to the media? -
I seem to remember waiting four hours for Mean Streak the summer it opened. The first time I was ever disappointed by a roller coaster.
