Interesting to note the ticket prices for 2016. Online, single-day tickets to Kings Island as of now (they may go up when the park opens) are $39.99, and are advertised as saving the customer $24 off front-gate pricing. If this is true, then front-gate tickets this season will be $63.99. For the 2015 season, I believe front gate was $61.99 and online was $41.99 for weekdays and $43.99 for weekends. So they have lowered online prices but raised front gate prices. They've widened the gap.

Does anyone know if there's a preview night like there was last season? I saw on the website that there's a Soak City preview event but nothing about a full park preview night on the day before opening day like there was last season.

I just noticed that the same structure that is at Kings Dominion operates half of the slides under two different names. The slides that drop the floor from underneath your feet is called Tropical Plunge. The other three slides are known as Aqua Blast. The entire structure is known as Hurricane Heights. Will we see a similar naming strategy happen at Kings Island's Soak City? Personally, I like this naming strategy, except for I think the one slide that has the 360 degree turns in it should be named separately from the other two dueling tube slides. So that'd being the number of names to 3.

For anyone who owns a Disney Vacation Club membership or is interested in DVC, at the annual December meeting, Disney Vacation Development announced renovations for Disney's Beach Club Villas, Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas, and Disney's Vero Beach Resort. The real question: How many parks can a company successfully manage and integrate its brands without compromising each park's uniqueness for standard theming? The difference IMO is that not a lot of people are aware of Cedar Fair as a chain. If someone has a bad experience at "a Six Flags Park", then they won't go back to a Six Flags park. If someone doesn't like their experience at Kings Island, they won't go back to Kings Island. That doesn't say anything about not going back to Carowinds or Cedar Point. Brand recognition. They sure are needed, but there will be much pain and suffering to get there. I'm not exactly looking forward to the 2016/2017 seasons when it comes to Imagine Western Row. But I'm sure, as always, I will soon see that the result was well worth the pain and suffering that it took to get there.

I don't think it's reasonable to expect Disney or Universal quality-theming at Cedar Fair or Six Flags parks, and therefore would be not fair to compare Disney or Universal to Cedar Fair's theming. With that being said, Cedar Fair still does try to take a stab at theming (Banshee's gravestones, giant ID sign, mist, etc.). Personally, I love what they did with Wonder Mountain's Guardian and Voyage to the Iron Reef. It reminds me what I'd expect from a mildly themed park such as Busch Gardens or Silver Dollar City. More themed than a Cedar Fair park, but not so much that they have to go to the extents of Disney.

Well, distance is obviously the primary problem for you; however, I feel the need to inform any readers that 3 years ago, when I was 15, I applied for the 2013 season, but was emailed back to not come for an interview until I turned 16. I knew someone who also ran into this issue. He received an email that claimed "Your application will be held on file for the rest of 2014, and you will be contacted if a position becomes available." He turned 15 1/2 in April, and applied in February.

As I recall, refills were not available at the Freestyle machines. At least they weren't at the Jukebox Diner in Coney Mall. Free refills are most definitely offered at the freestyle machines. I filled up my cup multiple times there. Coke products are Coke products. It'd be silly to say you could get it anywhere else but the Freestyle machines. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I just realized that the new WWC entrance comes terribly close to Diamondback's first drop. I hope they have the first part of the queue enclosed or something so people won't be dumb and try to enter the restricted area and subsequently get hurt, injured, or killed.

Nope. That land is earmarked for an expansion of DVC-either for a new phase of the Poly or Floridian. Given its increasing popularity, it's a no-brainer. So would that be another DVC only resort like Disney's Old Key West Resort? I know when they originally wanted to develop the Mediterranean resort, they had trouble with the land.

Considering Kings Island hires 4,000 associates per season, I'd find it hard to believe that the full blown Ark Encounter project (fully matured through all of its phases) can employ and run on only people who only believe in Creationism. Disney's Mediterranean Resort may just be the fourth installment of a monorail resort, since it requires little expansion of the current monorail system. That is, if it is placed in between the Transportation & Ticket Center and Disney's Contemporary Resort. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
