  1. We really need summer heat and humidity to get here to evaluate if an opening is possible. It's coming. There's conflicting reports, but most of the science I am seeing says it will help. Whether it will help enough is another question altogether, and we will just have to wait and see.
  2. Yes I'm sure the 3.25-million-people that filed for unemployment LAST WEEK would rather collect unemployment. C'mon...go read something.
  3. I can't speak about what an August opening would look like attendance-wise, but something tells me there will be a lot of people more than happy to fill any job openings.
  4. I'm hoping for some miracle-combination of warm weather and medicinal knowledge to tackle this thing early so we can enjoy the parks in June. I understand that is optimistic-talk. Every day advances are being made by doctors, I think. New techniques to save lives, and all that. I'm not gonna say "cure" because technically there is no cure for a virus other than a vaccine, but if doctors figure out how to bring people out of this successfully we could indeed see a "miracle". Time is on our side if we can slow this thing down, and let scientists figure it out. Not saying it will happen, but just hoping.
  5. Yes. If ruining the entire month of March wasn't enough, I don't know what is...lol.
  6. Without addressing your specific question, I think seeing Tom Hanks test positive, and the whole Utah Jazz / NBA shutdown really made this real for many Americans.
  7. Yeah, but in the case of drive-thru-testing it's the same gloved-up person giving tests one right after another. They don't change gloves or attire. Not saying it's unsafe, but self-quarantine is the best thing you can do...if you can do. Just stay put.
  8. Folks, the National Guard in just about every state is being called up right now. So you might see them in your town soon, doing something, somewhere. And they kinda look like the military because THEY ARE THE MILITARY.
  9. I don't know. Might have something to do with Governor DeWine calling up the Ohio National Guard. Perhaps. Just a random guess.
  10. Right now? Today? They are probably hoping they have a job tomorrow. Once this is over they are back in business full-throttle I'm guessing. Depends how long this goes on though. Ford, Chrysler, Fiat, Honda all shutting down. So I doubt coaster designers/manufacturing is much in demand.
  11. Strange times. You are my favorite KI Central member no matter what...lol. But I actually mean it! :-)
  12. @King Ding Dong hope no hard feelings. But I don't think Chad was making a political statement. It obviously triggered, but I don't think that was the intention.
  13. KI Central is not the place for politics. To many of us Fake News means false information. Which is real. There actually is Fake News.
  14. You're gonna have to explain this post to me. "controversial political ideology"? I honestly have no idea what you're referring to. Please explain.
  15. Calling in the National Guard to fix the parking lot sounds a bit extreme, but you're not going to see me complaining.
  16. Something tells me Freestyle machines are going to feel very nostalgic very soon. I like them, but I don't know, man. ;-)
  17. There's another thread for this, but the market is an interesting thing. As of today, I would value the Amusement Park industry at basically $0. Their business is shot, and even their major assets aren't worth much of anything. Of course, over time that will change. Roller-coaster-market for sure right now!
  18. It's safe. Not nearly as good as the Mariah Carey washing-hands video I saw yesterday though.
  19. Groceries, "pharmacies", and gas stations will remain open. That means booze, smokes, and---I suppose---the lotto tickets are still a go. LOL. But the CDC probably recommends at least a 2-week-supply. :-)
  20. That would meet-up with the end of the CDC's 8-week-recommendation of no groups over 50 people. And---at this point---would be a best-case-scenario. I hope so, but we shall see.
  21. Virus' DO spread in summer. Just not as widespread. You can get a cold in summer for sure---we've all been there, just not as much as winter. The Australia numbers are worth watching though. Most of their cases arrived on airplanes. Do I believe hot weather will end coronavirus? No. Do I believe hot weather is likely to slow-down its spread? You bet! The sun's UV-rays alone cleanse outdoor spaces. Not to mention heat. It's a thing. Getting complacent? No.
  22. Yes, we understand this is a pandemic. "massive" pandemic even. Folks here are trying to think about some other things, sort of. Happy things.
  23. I believe once this is over businesses everywhere are going to pull out all the stops to get people in. I think everything is on the table to do it.
  24. If you listen/believe the mayor of NYC he's talking about 6-9 months. Which I think we can all agree sounds excessive. But it's out there.
  25. You might be right, but we just don't know. Things are moving heavily towards shutting practically everything down to make this go away as soon as possible. If successful, perhaps a Summer opening is possible. Maybe hot weather helps too---nobody knows. We just don't know yet. So many unanswered questions, but time will tell.
