  1. I've noticed this virus is impacting compact big cities really hard. It's hard to ignore. Besides climate, NYC and LA are completely different as far as how they live. LA is a sprawling city/area stretched out over miles and miles and miles. NYC is compact, with people living on top of each other by the thousands. See also Chicago and Detroit where people live on top of each other where the virus has hit really hard, versus places like St. Louis, or Dallas, or...Cincinnati.
  2. That's how it used to work---more or less. But then the lady in Texas fell off, so we got belts, and...I don't know what their liability policies are these days.
  3. Yep. For sure employees will still have to do their part to provide ride safety. No getting around that.
  4. Yes! In the old days Beast just had a lap-bar that covered both seats. Now it's an individual-restraint PLUS a belt. I've ridden it all sorts of ways. Still here.
  5. Holcomb has informed the people and left it to the people of Indiana. Simple as that.
  6. DeWine still thinks he can enforce a 14-day-quarantine on outside visitors. He's been progressive, if that's a good thing, but it's ridiculously un-enforceable. I anticipate him following Indiana's lead. Nobody wants what Michigan got...I'll just leave that there.
  7. Strap in! 'Merica full-speed-ahead. ;-) And yeah...I think so.
  8. Here in Indiana the plan is be all-things-open July 4. No restrictions. As of May 8th---not this weekend but next---churches are open no restrictions. I think by the time Kings Island opens there will be no government restrictions. The park may do some things to make people feel good, but...nothing enforced except perhaps on their own employees. Keep in mind July is still two months away, and things have changed dramatically from March 1 to May 1.
  9. Indeed they will. And I promise you they want my money.
  10. LOL! Of course not! And KI may require face masks. And I'll respect that and make my choices accordingly.
  11. If you're worried about getting Covid-19 at Kings Island...don't go to Kings Island. Do you also have to make my decisions about going to Kings Island for me?
  12. https://wmbriggs.com/post/30429/ https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/factcheck/hospital-payments-and-the-covid-19-death-count/ar-BB130qmW If you are stage-4 cancer, and you get Covid-19, and die...it's a Covid-19 death. By the numbers. This is CDC and World Health Org guidance. Car crash, no. Practically everything else, yes. 90-years-old with pneumonia and you test positive for Covid-19...add it to covid-19 death toll. Hospitals are being paid more via Medicare for Covid-19 deaths. So one could argue they have incentive.
  13. Some good stuff here, but I don't think ride nor park capacity will be limited. Some guests will wear masks, most will not.
  14. Outside is safer. And the suns UV-rays might cut down on the "few minutes". But yes, if you go the grocery or the Midway, you might get Covid-19. If you stay home for the next ~2-years you won't. I now presume you have the data you need to decide if you will or won't attend Kings Island, or go to the store. Now if we can just inform the public of the same. *most people already know this*
  15. I won't go to the park if masks are required. That's not because I'm a jerk---already covered that ground here---but I just can't do it. I have done it in the stores, but it's simply playing nice, trying to appear to be playing the game. I touch my mask when it moves up and blocks my vision, and I just take it off and throw it on the dash soon as I'm out of there. Then put it back on next time. Ugh.
  16. I am admittedly completely uninformed on the dorms at Kings Island, and if they will even open if the park does this year. I'm guessing maybe not with a shortened season assuming we're lucky enough to even have a shortened season?
  17. It's okay to eat the virus. You just can't inhale it or wipe your nose and eyes with it. True story. "Food is not inhaled into the respiratory tract and any virus present will likely be inactivated in the stomach" -Angela L. Rasmussen, PhD, a virologist in the faculty of the Center for Infection and Immunity at the Columbia Mailman School of Public Health, adding that she is not aware of any human coronaviruses that can be transmitted through food.
  18. And what do you do on a beautiful hot, sunny day...and then a thunderstorm rolls in? Pack the Festhaus? Ummm... *Edit* I think you send people to their cars.
  19. Yeah, I don't know. I'm sure this has to be on their list of things to think about though. They could still cook the food inside Festhaus, and have employees bring it out--as in outside---to a more distanced "line" for customers? And then on to Timber to eat and watch? Not sure.
  20. Like any business it'll be critical to keep their employees safe. And I don't know what we'll see with rides by the time they do open which I still think will be July, but I'm guessing workers in masks, rides wiped down after each cycle, and hand sanitizer passed out to guests like candy. Can they move Festhaus eatery and entertainment to Timberwolf somehow? It'd be much safer for people to eat and enjoy the entertainment outside, than in the Festhaus.
  21. If you think Kings Island cannot open without "ensuring nobody with Covid-19 is inside the park", you are terribly out of touch with reality. No business that's already been open this whole time can ensure nobody with Covid-19 is inside. And guess what---more things are about to be open. All kinds of things. Restaurants are opening, movie theaters are allowed to open soon...not a one of them are making sure Covid-19 isn't in the building! For one, it'd be impossible for every business to ensure it. For two, most of America doesn't want to take a test just to watch a movie or have a meal. Or dare I say...stand in line to ride a roller coaster.
  22. Couldn't agree more! Complex indeed. Covid-19 vs. public health. Volumes will be written.
  23. The Indy 500 has been rescheduled for August 23rd. Just the other day Indiana governor Holcomb absolutely refused to rule it out, whilst at the same time admitting Indiana is going to see new Covid-19 cases in all the foreseeable months ahead. He also said something to the effect of if you're over-60 with pre-existing conditions you might not want to attend the Indy 500 this year. It also might yet be shut down. I think this is the example of good governorship. People are going to get sick going forward---good God we all know that---but hopefully few die. And people are going to have to make their own decisions about what group gatherings they choose to attend, understanding the risks.
  24. Interesting. It sorta sounds like you now think the human body can indeed build up an immune response. Personally, I think testing of all kinds is key. Antibody testing is being done because scientists are pretty sure if you have antibodies you are okay. Testing will provide scope of spread, death-rates, and so on. And potentially allow people to relax and enjoy...all kinds of things. Unfortunately we do not have that data tonight. Hope we do soon!
